I have a 7 month old puppy who we bought at 4 mos old. He needed to get all his shots before the groomer. So finally we took him here. They did such a horrible job of shaving hos testicles. He went in a happy puppy and came out miserable, shivering. 4 days later, I had to take him to the veterinarian who said this never should have happened. She gave him a steroid injection. He's wearing a cone. He's still yelping and scooting around the floor all the time. If I could give a negative star, I would give a -5. read more

Not Customer friendly , Difficult to make appointments. They quote you one price and when you pick up your pet , it's a whole different price . Tried it a few times was hoping it would get better unfortunately it wasn't. Spoke to other people who have used them and they all had the same issues for example your dog is matted have to charge more and /or it takes for ever until they are done with the grooming You need to book appointments weeks in advance . And when ever you are there the place is empty and it's over priced as well . Can't go back i wanted it to work out it's always nice to support local business . read more

But after being with them for 7+ year I was told she wouldn't be able to groom my dog due to payment history (1 time) I had been going threw hardship and didn't pay a invoice. I truly hurts because my dog had been going to her since she was 11months and now she's 8yrs old. I'm saying this to say, don't miss a payment or you'll be dismissed from Handsome Hound know matter how loyal you are. And at the end of the day I still give 5 stars because it was a great service over the years. But never the less I have a true family at Bravo Veterinarian. read more

I'm sorry that I'm just getting to this review. I've been going to Handsome Hounds for over 3+ years. Dianne has been great to deal with and my Lucy has been groomed and treated great. I had tried to go to someone else very early on because I thought I was paying too much, I was a new dog owner, well it was the worst decision I could have made! My Lucy came home as if she had been traumatized by where I had left her. I went back to Dianne and told her what I had done and she couldn't have been more understanding and welcomed me back with out judgement. When I pick up my Lucy, she is always happy and well groomed. Dianne has been great in giving me heads up when holidays are coming and she might get booked up, so I can get Lucy in, she also is great at quickly getting back to me whenever I need to make an appointment! Took my dog to get groomed here for the first time yesterday. He doesn't get groomed very often just twice a year. Diane was very helpful and respectful of my wishes and of my dog (he doesn't like to have his nails clipped). When I picked him up he looked great and she managed to even trim his nails (my previous groomer wouldn't make the attempt). Overall very happy with how he looks and I will definitely take him again. read more

I'm not sure how more people weren't compelled to leave a review after their experience with Handsome Hound. This is not a review for the quality of grooming, rather for the lack of professionalism the owner approaches her customers with. The owner speaks in a manner that is degrading and offensive to her clients. We had been loyal clients for almost 2 years now and to be spoken to in such a manner is appalling to me. We were bluntly told by the owner that they don't have the time for clients who are not financially equipped to afford their services, as shown through the form of a tip, as we didn't seem to provide one last time we were there (no questions asked here, just accusatory). From the start, the owner was also adamant about not allowing us to bring our dog every 7-8 weeks as we had hoped, rather we must come in every 6 weeks if we wanted to keep our same rate. We were informed that if we waited any longer than 6 weeks, the price would be increased. The owner, while knowledgeable, simply does not make you feel comfortable when dropping off or picking up your pet, as there is always something negative to be said. There's an appropriate way to make a suggestion or deliver a point, but you will not get this with Diane. This is a small business that clearly does not respect or value their clients. read more

I've been taking my three dogs to the Handsome Hound for the past 3 years. The dogs always leave looking beautiful and I have had some interesting and informative conversations with Diane about dogs - their training, their feeding, etc. Diane has a very direct approach with her clients and lets them know what she thinks without beating around the bush. Some people might find that off-putting but I appreciate her for her honesty and directness. She loves the animals and she and her groomers treat them with great kindness. read more

Unfortunately, my experience at the Handsome Hound was not as pleasant as the previous poster. Don't quite understand how a groomer can diagnose a tumor but a vet can't however glad his dog is better. Owner also runs a dog sitting service out of her home. She has watched our dog for two of the past three summers and twice he has come home with an ailment or injury. Upon being returned to us this July, we noticed he was experiencing pain in his hind area.We took him to the vet who concluded the same. To help diagnose the problem, the vet inquired if we recently observed anything that might have caused the injury and requested we also ask anyone, including family, who had been handling him. When we questioned the HH owner, she became defensive, stated that when she watches a dog, she does not keep them in a bubble and lets them act like dogs (was I expecting them to act like anything else?). We then explained that we were following the advise of our vet, in the best interest of our pet and not accusing her of anything. That was followed the next day by a phone call from the owner telling us she no longer wanted our business. X-Rays revealed a disc injury, our dog is currently on the mend. I have been in the customer service business for over forty years and understand that there will sometimes be issues but as a service provider, it is my responsibility to help my customers solve these problems, not give them bigger ones. We will both be better off without each other. read more

Been going here for 3+ years now and I cant say enough great things about them. My older Dog loves them and is always in a rush to get in the back room, I also have a new puppy that they are going through the motions with to get him used to being groomed. I have total confidence that my boys are getting the best treatment when I walk out of that door. Now let me tell you a little story. My older dog was acting very quiet and low key, didn't want to play or anything. I took him to the vet and they said they didn't see anything wrong and he was just getting older and to relax. I listened because he is the pro right? Well he was also due for a grooming that week and thank God because they caught something the Vet didn't. He had a tumor growing on his back paw that was causing him pain. We returned him to the Vet and showed them, had it removed sent out for testing and results were Neg. Dr said any longer and it could have turned into something much much worse. I honestly cant thank these people enough. Its not just a wash and cut (btw is always perfect) but they also put the time in and inspect the animals for anything strange, lumps, ticks, bites or that tumor growing. Just to finish the story he is back to running playing and acting like a little pup again. read more

My 74 year old Mother took her 10 lb dog to have his nails clipped today, he was frightened which caused him to squirm, wiggle, and cry, the entire ten nail cutting took less than ten minutes with Diane talking to a previous client who was leaving with her dog during the procedure. When it came time to pay the $15 dollar fee for the nail clipping, Diane told my Mother it was now $25 because her dog had scratched her during the nail clipping, this indeed did happen, but I would call that it an occupational hazard. Perhaps she should have put on a smock or long sleeved shirt. The dogs apprehension was discussed with her prior to taking the dog into the clipping area and she has clipped this dogs nails before and knew what to expect, no where in her place of establishment is a sign posted; if your dog scratches me you will be charged an additional $10 dollars. Perhaps we should all try that at our places of business, we can tell people- If I fail to follow proper safety procedures to protect myself you will be charged an additional fee - I wonder how long we would stay in business. I was not aware of what had transpired financially until we returned home, my senior citizen mother was made to feel embarrassed and responsible for this Diane's scratches. Diane you chose to be a dog groomer, part of your job is to groom dogs that are going to be difficult customers, it is your responsibility to take precautions to protect yourself, it is not your clients responsibility to compensate you for minor scratches when you fail to use common sense. Shame on you for taking advantage of a senior citizen who trusted your professionalism. If this women can not handle a 10 lb dog with out getting scratched I worry what would happen to her with my 80lb boxer. Very unprofessional and obviously inexperienced. read more

There is something to be said about being well known at a business you frequent. The personal relationship with staff elicits a sense of familiarity, which makes your transactions easier and much more positive. When this positive relationship carries over to your pet everyone is happier. This is the type of relationship I found at The Handsome Hound. At the first visit the owner Dianne showed genuine respect and kindness towards my older dog Cookie. Without rushing she gently sat beside her on the floor fostering a positive, calm environment. At the same time she asked me pertinent questions concerning her health and behavior. Over the years Cookie thrived on the Handsome Hounds staff reassuring environment. And I learned of Dianne's extensive knowledge of multiple breeds. Although she juggled many appointments in a day she was considerate of our scheduling needs. She was also very nurturing as my dog began to fail. Dianne showed sincere compassion and ongoing support as I faced her final few months. In the end this personal relationship made Cookies loss a little less painful. And for that I am grateful. A place of business where you are well known may make all the difference in both your life and your pet's. read more

Our dog loves going to The Handsome Hound and when we pick her up she looks great & is very happy.
