I rented the Hampton Conference Center on 09/24/22 for 2 25th wedding anniversary celebration and vow renewal. This is the letter I sent to the conference center on 09/26/22. We can't continue to allow these people to take advantage of us...something MUST be done!! "I was charged a fee of $1,500, I believe I should be compensated for the deplorable conditions and inconvenience I encountered while utilizing your facility. Listed below are the issues I incurred: Upon arrival, the banquet hall had a undesirable odor - the floor was dirty and sticky; the warming oven was never provided; The recommended bartender, who also serves as the general manager, was paid an additional amount of $200 (not included in the contract) - he showed up at least 30-45 minutes late, completely unprepared, including not having any ice, a major inconvenience to me and my guests; Being late and unprepared was one thing, but how can a bartender operate a bar with NO RUNNING WATER and ADAQUATE DRAINAGE!! Prior to signing the contract I was shown the facilities. Once I agreed on your recommended bartender and fee, I had no idea I would be provided a bar without proper set-up such as running water and proper drainage! Your facility initially provided two trashcans with liners - once full and emptied, you don't provide any additional liners - your trash cans smelled and were disgusting - you should at least provide a total of four trash cans for each event (one in each corner of the room) and each should have an additional liner - you are a thriving business, the liners can be purchased in bulk; My coordinator had no idea the sink was inoperable, waste was depositing into a small bowl located under the sink and already filled with nasty, dirty, smelly water (which could have been the source of the undesirable odor in the banquet hall); And finally, the most disappointing was the invasion of ANTS!! We placed our covered chicken on the designated countertop. Once the food table was prepared, we attempted to move the chicken from the counter to the food table and that's when we realized ANTS had invaded our chicken - they were everywhere!! Several guests complained there were ants in their food! Of course, we could not continue to serve the chicken it was ruined - Embarrassing and Completely Unacceptable!" read more

This is the most disgusting venue I have ever seen in my entire life. It smelled like mildew. The seats they provided were dirty as hell. The padding on the seats had stains on them. The wooden tables were in terrible shape. They don't really follow CDC guidelines and fill their venue to capacity. I am definitely reporting them to OSHA. It's in the middle of the ghetto and very hard to find. The parking is horrible. Whatever you do, go elsewhere. This place is a dump. read more

I am still in the process of hosting my wedding here and I'm already regretting it. We had an initial consult where the owner laid out this wonderful ceremony and reception. We told her what we wanted and she gave up a quote. The quote was VERY high for just a space rental and decoration, but we went with it anyway due to the size of the venue. Well, it's been almost impossible to get the owner on the phone and assistant seems either incompetent or just overwhelmed. Either way, she isn't able to make any decision without the owner who is never anywhere to be found. I cut the number of people to my event and the price went UP. My girlfriend had a great party here - but the headache dealing with the management was ridiculous. Dont Let The Beautiful Venue Fool You -- See her problems below: Had a party at The Hampton Conference Center, Cap. Heights, MD two weeks ago. Here are just some of my issues with this venue: office was not open at posted time, owner sometimes rude on the phone when you can get her, voice mail sometimes full, information changed often, located supervisor to find the bar tender who was missing for the first 40 min. of the party. I decided on open bar for my guest. Staff had no price list for the alcohol. You give them your order, they price your order, you pay them, they order (I was told wholesale) . Although I gave them my alcohol order two weeks prior to my party, after several calls, I finally received prices via text message the week of my party. Everything in my opinion was over priced, e.g., a bottle of Absolut Vodka sells retail $27.99, they charged 77.26, Malibu Rum 21.99 their charge 56.38, Crown Royal Delux 30.99 they charged 94.60, Korbel champagne 14.99 they charged 30.00 etc. The stipulate that any opened -- left over alcohol must remain in their possession. I had to supply my own ice by bringing coolers, yes bring my own coolers. Was not allowed to use the kitchen although the kitchen was there for that ballroom. It was stressful dealing with the staff but my guest and I had a wonderful time. I would never recommend this venue to anyone. Please share my post with your fb friends. read more

Nice space, but if you have an event here, be prepared for it to start HOURS after the stated time. While I understand it may have been the event planners, as I talked to others while I stood outside for almost two hours after the event was supposed to start, they told me that they always start late here. They had been to events before and they showed up an hour and a half late today because they knew it wouldn't start on time. So, it seems to be a combination of this place and whomever is putting on the event. Use it if you want a very late night event. Go here with the understanding that if your ticket says 9pm, you won't even get into the building until after 11 and the event won't start until midnight. read more

The pics on FB are deceitful! The venue is a eyesore a deposit was placed before I was able to get to a thorough view of the facility due to a event that was going on at the time. When I came back to revise the contract I was able to get a thorough look at fifthly walls, chipped paint, outlet wiring hanging from the ceiling, wobbly chivalry chairs nasty kitchen area and a parking lot behind the building with Metro Access vehicles that looked abandon. When we brought these issues to the owner he told my daughter to stop being a BRIDEZILLA her guest won't notice everything we pointed out to him and the wedding is not about the venue. But yet you want her to pay $6000+ for the raggedy facility. Today I called the Wife to inform her we found another venue and we would like to receive a refund and I was yelled at and insulted once again and told we would not get back our refund. I feel like I was robbed without a gun. Bad business this is highway robbery!!!!! read more

I gave this place a rating of two (2) stars because the posted pictures are beautiful and the space in the Big Ball Room is enormous, however, I planned an event here in the small Ball Room. I requested a refund 60 days prior to my event because of economical reasons (The Hampton Conference Center is quite costly). My handwritten receipt did not state NO REFUNDS, in fact, it stated "amount not refundable if event is not cancelled". Well, the event was cancelled... 60 days prior. I am still fighting these people for a full refund and plan to take further measures. I think that customer service or lack thereof warrants me to rate this place zero stars. They never called me back in regards to this matter and they took weeks to respond via email. Once they responded, I was told what the written receipt "clearly stated". (I could not locate my copy and had not signed a contract because it was not prepared on the day that I left my deposit... they wanted me to come back to sign it, but before I could get there, I had a change of mind). Because I had not signed a contract and I had misplaced my original handwritten receipt, I requested that a copy of the receipt that was in their possession be mailed to me... to date, it never was). I have found my receipt and it clearly states "amount not refundable if event is NOT cancelled". I'm at my wits end with this place. Poor customer service at it's finest !!! read more
