Great place really nice coaches. Drop in fee is 200 pesos. I think I lost my weight in sweat…read morebecause the workout was so hard. I liked the small class sizes (3 people). They also seem really excited to have visitors -- so, it was a win win. I walked here fro downtown Playa Del Carmen. It was about a 20 minute walk. Not a big deal. I'll definitely come back next time I'm in PDC. Also, I guess they just opened another location that is supposed to be bigger an better. So, I'd like to try that location out.

I worked out here for two days. Both coaches were friendly and spoke very good English. They walked…read morethrough the WOD demonstrating the proper way to do them- not much to explain on a WOD with just a bunch of air squats and mile run, but there was a demonstration of a squat. There was no skill work (or part A or whatever your gym calls it) and so there was little need for super good coaching. The Wods on both days consisted of 2 basic movements, no skill work, a short warmup consisting of a couple of minutes of calisthenics and a cool down of a little stretching of the muscles most used for about 4 minutes. This was easily the hottest gym I have ever worked out in, including Las Vegas, Florida, Arizona, etc. You feel like you get a workout just standing around waiting for the coach to start. Take your bottle of water because there is no water fountain. Also, a small towel might be useful. The biggest problem is that this box is SUPER expensive! There is no discount for more than one person and no discount for more than one day. They are stingy with t-shirts if they even have any. Seriously- $25US for one person for one 40 minute workout and no skill work (about 400 pesos). One of the days the warmup was 2 minutes, the workout was 18 minutes and the stretching was 4 minutes- that means it was $1 per minute to sweat here. I have never been somewhere that they didn't invite me back after a couple of drop ins for the rest of the time for free, you know- "hey, $40 is a lot for 2 days, just come the rest of the week for free" or "since there are two of you, how about just $30 a day". Not these guys. $100 (about 1,600 pesos) later and not a peep of "come on back tomorrow on us" or "how about this cool t-shirt advertising us to your workout friends". It didn't seem worth another fifty bucks to sweat for 30-40 minutes. The hotel gym was adequate for a bunch of squats and a run so we repeated 17.1 at the hotel and it was a better workout and free. There are a few other crossfit boxes in Playa- I will check them out instead next time I am in town.

I love taking yoga classes, I was a yoga instructor for many years in San Francisco and NYC and…read morehave taken yoga classes all over the world. I DO NOT recommend this studio for these reasons: 1. UNPROFESSIONAL - I did not receive an introduction to the studio and they knew it was my first time visiting. Class was advertised as 6pm to 7:15pm. They asked me to come early to sign up and I arrived at 5:45pm. The instructor arrived at 6:24pm. That is TWENTY FOUR minutes late. The front desk personnel waited till 6:15 (this is 30 minutes that I've been in the studio now) to let us know the instructor is running late. Did class still end on time? Yes. Which means I got less yoga than I paid for but was required to pay the FULL drop in price. 2. YOGA? Maybe. I'm open to new styles, but the instructor was moving SO fast I started laughing out loud because literally not one participant was keeping up. Breath with movement? I don't think a hamster could breathe that fast. It was entertaining, it was not yoga. 3. BUGS. I used this as a test of yogi patience. I left with about a dozen mosquito bites. I was SO EXCITED to buy a week pass and do classes here everyday during my visit. I had a terrible visit and I hope it is a one off given the great reviews this place normally gets. At the same time, I want to be honest about my experience because it's important for us all to know and make our own decisions about a studio!
