Few of the cable machines have been broken and haven't been repaired for the past 3months now which is apaulling. The locker rooms are looking very tired as are the showers. The dated rowing machines are always breaking, For a private gym charging top prices its not really now to a high enough standard and needs major investment in new equipment else its going to lose customers. K2 gym has newer equipment. On the plus side it has a great pool and spa which is one of the reasons why I joined this gym. No other gym in town offers this facility.

The pool area is great the water is usually warmish, the walk down steps make it easy for me to get in and out of the pool and I find the changing facilities much better than K2. Always very clean and tidy. There is no problem with any of the machines I use. My biggest bug bare is that on a Saturday is really hard to find a parking space, not from gym users but from leisure park users in general, however the gym has no control over this.

I took Sammy's 9:15 am 45 min class and I loved her teaching style! very motivating and positive - she explained everything and the class was very doable. we used weights (provided for part of class too) I wondered what the music would be like & was pleased that it reminded me of my old hed kandi tracks. the studio also has the instructor raised up on a platform and theres colored lights, a fog machine and a screen with pictures behind her. It's really something else! Shoes were included and you can borrow a stainless steel water bottle. There were toiletries provided in the ladies locker room, as well as locking lockers, towels, lots of showers, a aaaand a fridge full of chilled lavender washcloths! The bikes have a flywheel and pretty sure you can hook your phone up if you want to sync what your doing on your bike too your machine. You can also go on their website for the instructors play list. This one is right by Victoria station. Wish we had one of these in the states! I very much enjoyed my class! :)

I took two spin classes and one reformer class three days in a row and enjoyed every class. After I took my first spin class, I raved about it to my BFF about how much fun I had! It took some convincing to get her to join me on my next spin class because she hates cycling (with a passion). But to her surprise, she enjoyed the class so much that she said she would do it again! The class felt like a club with loud music and bright lights! Probably the only club we will go to these days...too old to rage like we used to. It was fun feeling like we were at a club and at the same time sweating and getting a good workout in. I wish they had this studio in San Francisco, miss it already! And the smoothies are good too!!

My personal trainer created a great program that perfectly suits my body's characteristics and would boast the best results in the shortest period of time. The activity I enjoy the most is the aquaerobics followed by a deep tissue massage. The facility and the equipment are state of the art and the membership deals are quite affordable to anyone. Pool or pulpit...that is the question!…read more Here at the Virgin Active in Repton Park, they placed a swimming pool right inside a church...how cool is that? When I first entered the pool I was really taken aback and quite mesmerized - it felt a little sacrilegious, but at the same time I very much enjoyed swimming in this beautiful environment. The gym area itself is also quite neat, as you sweat underneath a prettily-decorated vaulted ceiling. There's plenty of exercise equipment, although the weight-lifting area is a little small. This Virgin Active gym is in Repton Park, which was the site of the fomrer Claybury Hospital - a psychiatric hospital. Apparently there's still the ghosts of the past haunting these premises....

This Virgin club is nestled within…read morethe closed community (Repton Park), the best way to get here would be by car, although there is a bus stop just outside Repton Park it is still quite a walk when you are inside. This gym has a Costa Coffee inside next to the reception that also includes food (this can get slightly irritating when working out and smelling food) o_O The gym has quite a few treadmills, bikes, rowing machines, free weights, TRX etc, each machine has a tv screen with the ability to plug in your IPhone/IPod which allows you to listen to your music but also you can store your workout data to your phone too. The most amazing area in this gym is the swimming pool, it is absolutely stunning, the whole gym used to be a chapel for the mental institution, so the decor inside is beautiful. Within the pool area, you also have the sauna and steam room, along with some sun loungers and some juice to drink. The only gripe I have is that there is no air-conditioning (but I don't think there is anything they can do about that due to the building structure).

The floor of the pool can be raised or lowered depending on what event it is hosting - very clever. The gym is very modern with all the latest gear for you to use. It also has a number of indoor courts for volleyball, badminton, basketball, 5-aside football etc. The changing rooms are kept very clean with alternate wet and dry rooms for swimming and other activities. The facility is free for soldiers and their dependents and other discounts are also available. It has excellent opening hours to suit everyones needs. Due to 50m pools across the country being categorised as national assets, swimming can sometimes be disrupted by school swimming sessions, but this is a small price to pay for an otherwise fantastic facility.
