The air wasn't working and Jacob (my instructor) and I were definitely sweating like we were in a sauna. Lol He was great though as far as answering questions and being patient. I didn't necessarily get far, but I did get an idea of how to play a few notes on an electric guitar and I actually had fun learning. He also helped me pick out a couple of starter guitars that were cheap if I wanted to just grab something, but not feel like I wasted money if I didn't use it often. The manager, Brandon, checked in before my lesson and after. Both individuals were personable. Tip: Go ahead and have an idea of what you would like to play and have a song in mind. I was under the impression that they had select guitars that they would allow you to use and that there were set songs to choose from but I was wrong. It is nice that you have choices though!

I had a Martin 110 SE guitar that I loved however it couldn't be repaired and the warranty I purchased from there covered it. Kilgore and Brandon were amazing with their help and Ron is an excellent tech. They told me what I needed to do and I was able to get a new guitar. Kilgore was there to guide and answer my questions and decided to get the Martin Streetmaster junior. I LOVE this new guitar. Highly recommend Guitar Center Hoover location. Everyone is knowledgeable and willing to help and answer all questions. If they don't know the answer they will find it out. Thank you for always being there for us musicians!

I take piano lessons here from Jay. I was pretty nervous when I first began (I came in knowing…read morealmost nothing), but he really makes the lessons fun and the theory aspect hasn't been the nightmare that I thought it would be. He offers lessons for either 45 minutes or an hour and he's really great about working around your schedule. He's one of those multi-talented musicians that can play somewhere around 50 instruments. I plan on bringing in bagpipes one day just to see if he can play them. (So..if anyone has some bagpipes laying around, let me know.) I believe he offers lessons for many different instruments, but I can only vouch for piano and guitar. The actual store is owned and run by his father, Steve. They sell all kinds of instruments and musical equipment. I've never actually purchased anything from them, but everyone has been really nice when I've come in for lessons.

My son has been taking guitar lessons from Chase for a few years now. Chase is the living embodiment of patients and he demonstrates all other virtues associated with a quality instructor. The spectacular part about this establishment is that is nothing out of the ordinary. Wes, the drum instructor, could be one of the nicest individuals I've ever met. When my son had just started learning guitar in 3rd grade he participated in the schools talent show. Wes was there helping one of his students set up, so he naturally without being asked, walked over talked to my son talked him up, alleviated any nerves he had and helped him set up. After he was done Wes was the first person to hi five my son and tell him how great he did. Chase subsequently volunteered to come, on his own time, the following year to be there to support my son and help him set up. Trip the patriarch of the school is a very fortunate man to have such strong employees. However, it appears he leads by example as he is always positive and friendly and continues to give individual lessons himself. I could not ask for a better facility, more conducive to learning an instrument.

As a music owner myself, I know that it's as difficult as it is important to build a supportive music community, especially for kids just starting out in music. Stickandstrum does exactly just that. Overall, give them a try! You won't regret it. :)
