My family and I went to Roost last weekend, and unfortunately, we were really disappointed with…read moreboth the food and the service.
We started by ordering a cinnamon roll for the table, but we never received it despite asking about it multiple times. It finally came out after all of our meals had already been served. Our waitress even told us, "This has been ready, but they asked me to do something else and I forgot to bring it out."
Everyone ordered breakfast except my husband, who ordered a burger. He said his burger was fine, but the rest of us had issues with our food. My brother-in-law's eggs were essentially raw--the whites were still completely uncooked. It was bad enough that he lost his appetite and didn't want to eat anything else. I ordered scrambled eggs that were runny, my bacon was overcooked, and while my pancakes were okay, they were pretty tough.
The most concerning part of our experience, though, was my husband's drink. He ordered a peach Bellini thinking it was some type of peach smoothie or specialty drink. I understand that Bellinis are traditionally alcoholic, but in our defense, there was nothing indicating that this particular drink contained alcohol, and none of us even realized this deli served alcohol. The employee at the front also never asked for his ID or mentioned that it was an alcoholic beverage. My husband let me take a sip, and I immediately realized there was alcohol in it. I am seven months pregnant, so thankfully I only took that one sip. My brother-in-law is also in recovery and almost tried it as well, which made the situation even more upsetting.
My husband explained that he had no idea the Bellini contained alcohol, and they did refund the drink, which I appreciated and is the reason I'm giving two stars instead of one.
Overall, we were extremely disappointed. Between the forgotten cinnamon roll, poorly cooked food, and especially the confusion surrounding the alcoholic drink, I unfortunately would not recommend this place based on our experience.
