A hop and a skip from London, on 300 acres of Hertfordshire parkland and open countryside, a luxurious lap of luxury was unveiled in September 2003. The Grove was quite the fashionable spot in its glory daysduring the 18th and 19th centuries that is. The magnificent former estate of the Earls of Clarendon is about to remerge grander than ever. Country Estate charm melds with cosmopolitan chic and ultra-modern technology to offer Londoners and visitors the ultimate escape via 22 rooms and suites with gorgeous balcony or terrace view of the surrounding gardens and parklands, linen-lined walls, original art, ornate marble fireplaces, porcelain chandeliers, plasma screen TVs, children's welcome box, newspaper Says interior designer Mary Fox Linton: "So many things have influenced The Grove's designthe smells from the gardenroses, lavender, honeysuckle, as well as the taste of the best English food, with produce straight out of the kitchen garden on the estate, the touch and feel of soft, rich, textured fabrics." Guests can wile the hours away in romantic formal gardens, scented spaces and private terraces. Or they lounge in the 19th century, five-acre Walled Garden complete with an 82-foot pool, space for 1000 people throwing a pool party, two tennis courts, a croquet lawn and a potager for herbs and flowers. The Grove's spa, Sequioa, will feature 12 treatments rooms and a purified salt-water vitality pool. The glorious championship 18-hole golf course was designed by Kyle Phillips to seamlessly blend into its environs. Guests dine at Colette's, The Glasshouse or the more informal Stables in the golf house. Cocktails are taken in The Lobby Bar. Kids are looked after in a fully staffed nursery and via cooking classes, nature walks, tree house and kid's pool. The intention was to bring together its aristocratic history, its grounds, trees, woodland and its proximity to London. The result is a breath of fresh country air mixed with the buzz of the city.

I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in June 2017 while working on a client in the area. This was…read moreone of the nicer hotels I stayed at during my time in the UK (I had previously only stayed at a Premier Inn and a Travelodge); I had booked a room with 1 double and 1 single bed and free breakfast. The room was very clean and well appointed; the bath had good water pressure and there were sufficient amenities in the bathroom. Because I had signed up to be a Jurys Inn member when I booked the room, I was given a voucher code for free wifi and put on a special floor, so I would recommend signing up when booking (you don't even need to have been a member for a long time to get these perks; I had never stayed at a Jurys Inn before when I booked my room). The breakfast was really enjoyable; the buffet had a lot of options, including fruits, breads, and English breakfast fry-ups. The breakfast smoothies were a big hit with my coworkers and the crumpets were really good. Drink options included tea, coffee, plain water, and fruit-infused water. Everything was nicely presented; milk, breakfast smoothies, and yogurt all came in mini glass jars. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful; one of them was happy to help me with my wifi code. The hotel is conveniently located a short walk from the Watford Junction train station in one direction and the main town area (where all the restaurants are) in the other direction. The rate was pretty good given the quality of the room and the fact that breakfast was included. I really enjoyed my stay here and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in the area. Booking online was easy and I was able to pay with my American debit card without any issues.

The room sucked, no thermostat and I kept hearing the elevator go all night long. I went to take a shower and the shower head came flying off so I had to fix that myself. The bed was lousy, TV just as bad. The noise from the street was awful. DON'T STAY HERE!!! EVER!!!

No problem; as long as the room is ready when stated is all that matters. I came back several hours later and collected my suitcase, which they gladly held onto for me. There were two nice young ladies at reception who were chatty and joking and smiling with me, which s always great. I got my key, my wifi password and also some info on where I could get something to eat in town. The room is fantastic and so big. I'll have to take some photos later and post them. the bed is massive, very clean and comfortable. I didn't want to get out of it this morning. There is a teleivsion on the wall that works perfectly. There is also tea and coffee, which is always appreciated. one problem was that I connected to the internet last night and then went out to eat. When I came back, it woulnd't connect again. Not rally the hotels fault, since they're not in the wifi business. It is working again today. I really like this place and the location.
