I selected the Small Farmhouse breakfast which consisted of sausage, bacon, egg, hash brown, mushrooms, baked beans and a slice of toast with butter and jam. My husband selected the Farmhouse breakfast which had the same ingredients but twice as much. Of special note are the sausages which were very meaty and that the breakfast was cooked to perfection with none of the grease that can often be present. They also serve a full range of hot drinks so I was able to select a decaf latte. The menu includes some sandwich-type options and there were a few scones etc. for those who don't have our appetites. Service was fast for us. We arrived soon after they opened so only about 4 tables were already filled, so I cannot speak to service speed when they are busy, but they looked to have plenty of staff on duty. The food was good, service was pleasant -- until the cafe got busy. That's when the experience soured. After finishing our meal, we were leisurely enjoying the last sips of our coffee, preparing to pay and leave. But instead of being allowed to finish on our own terms, we were asked -- quite bluntly -- to shuffle down across a table to make room for more customers. It was awkward, unnecessary, and frankly, made us feel like cattle being herded to optimise their table turnover. In all my years of dining, brunching, and travelling across multiple countries, I've never encountered a request like that in any cafe or restaurant. It completely undercut what was an otherwise good experience and left us with a bitter aftertaste -- quite literally and figuratively. To top it off, staff seemed to disappear when it came time to address the issue, save for one person who eventually surfaced to take some feedback. But by then, the damage was done. Sadly, I won't be returning. If the priority is quantity over quality of experience, I'd rather spend my time and money elsewhere.

Downside, no wifi and somewhat strange opening hours (maybe different in peak season).

Not to be missed…read more.. During a visit to Poole, we were lucky to pass upon R's Kitchen by chance after dining somewhere nearby. We returned for breakfast the next morning & our experience was extremely pleasant having had a delicious, unhurried breakfast from a varied breakfast menu. As my breakfast date said, "R's kitchen really gets it" - with using & supporting local suppliers for their fresh ingredients of which their dinner menus are based upon; having the philosophy of cooking by season; individually wrapped chocolates on all the tables, plenty of fair trade filter coffee refills, friendly & warm service & modest prices. The waitress mentioned that R's Kitchen is merely a few months old & we hope it does extremely well succeeding with locals as well as tourists alike. In addition to breakfast, they have lunch & dinner menus & offer homemade cakes & drinks during the day. We were sorry we didn't find it sooner to experience their dinner menu & will be back one day despite the 2+ hour drive from London!
