    Delmonico Steak
    Jana N.

Cute environment and a cozy cafe feel, but parking is horrendous. Tight fit and not a lot of spots. Not ideal for trucks or mid to full size suvs. Our waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable over the menu. We ordered their spinach dip for an appetizer which she recommended and it was delicious. The dip, although good, tasted like a broccoli cheddar soup. For entrees we ordered their Delmonico steak which came with a pound of onion strings, whipped potatoes and asparagus. Was fellow average, especially based on price. Also their bone in pork chop which had a delicious brown sauce over top of it, otherwise it was a bit dry and chewy. Due to the taste of our entrees, we opted to skip their dessert. Cute restaurant with mediocre food.

What an amazing dinner we had with friends before going to the Lied. We were pressed with time and communicated this to the staff. Our food was amazing along with the wine pairing options. Great place for a nice dinner or a romantic date. We did make reservations prior to coming in.

Back dining room. It's a beautiful place.

Up to now this has been our favorite Lincoln restaurant. (Our crab cakes were the best we've ever eaten.) However, this time our experience was terrible. Our large ribeye--which we shared--was half solid fat--I'm not kidding, solid fat. The leaner half was tough and stringy, with long threads of sinew so much so that we could not chew it after barely being about able to cut it. They replaced it with a fillet that was also tough, much less tender than the cheapest steak at Texas Roadhouse. We could not finish this steak, either. A restaurant like this is not solely about calories and carbs, nor even taste. It about having an experience. Our anniversary was far less than we expected...it was destroyed. The manager did not charge us for the ribeye and gave us a discount for fillet. Got that? A DISCOUNT for a fillet we could not finish. If this were my restaurant, I would have charged us for nothing. This was a major failing not a minor disappointment. I would have frozen our steaks to show them to the meat supplier, and I would have demanded from him the cost to my restaurant instead of shifting part of the cost to my upset patron. As time passes I'm upset with myself for not suggesting comping this bill. As it was, this disappointing experience cost me over $100. BUT, I'd like to add that Brooks is just about the finest waitress one can imagine. They are lucky to have her.

This was an exceptional place! Ambience was 10/10, it was filled with families having a nice Sunday brunch :) service was extremely friendly. We waited a bit for our food, but it was well worth the wait. We got the eggs benny, crab sliders, pancakes, buttermilk biscuit breakfast, beignet, and the latte (very yummy)! Oh and can't forget about the dessert platter that they bring to show you the dessert options, all of which looked fantastic. I will definitely be back when I'm back in Lincoln!

    Chicken fried steak & eggs

The Green Gateau is a solid choice in Lincoln for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Albeit some entrees can be a bit pricy, quality usually lives up to the expectations. I've been several times and have always loved the soups (roasted red pepper bisque is one of the best in town) and their salad with the raspberry vinaigrette is amazing. They are Also one of the only places in town I usually cave for a dessert (several good options, but the self-titled Green Gateau cake is my absolute favorite). I had actually never tried for brunch until recently, so I ordered chicken fried steak and eggs. You could tell the steak was hand breaded and the gravy was deliciously homemade, with sausage and veggies abound. I also ordered a mimosa flight, and loved the Hawaiian and strawberry tart mimosas they offer. Service was great despite being packed on a Sunday, no issues at all.

After a recommendation, I decided to try The Green Gateau for brunch. It's a very cute spot -- the aesthetic is charming and cozy. Just a heads-up: there isn't a bar area, so if you're dining solo, you'll be seated at a regular table. I started with the Kiwi Italian Cream Soda and the beignets -- both were absolutely delicious. 10/10 would recommend starting your meal with those! For my entrée, I asked the waitress for a recommendation and ended up ordering one of the eggs Benedict options -- it had ham, artichokes, poached eggs, and hollandaise sauce. While it sounded interesting, it just wasn't for me. I'm not sure if it was the flavor combo or just my personal taste, but I wouldn't order it again. As for service, it was unfortunately the low point of the visit. My waitress seemed disengaged and I experienced long gaps without any check-ins. I even asked for my check and a to-go box when my entrée arrived (because of the delays), but still waited quite a while after finishing. Plates were stacked, my card was on the check, and I was clearly ready to go. Thankfully, the manager noticed and helped close me out, but the whole situation felt a bit awkward. Overall, a mixed experience -- great ambiance and starters, but service and the entrée left something to be desired. I'd come back, but probably with different expectations.

Came for brunch while visiting Lincoln; our family had highly recommended this spot. Ordered the beignets as a starter; didn't realize how big they are! They're the size of my hand! Also got lemon curd on the side. Not quite as fluffy as I'd expected, but still good. I had the avocado toast with chicken. It looked great in presentation but as I started eatting, I got vinegary notes. I took the layers of my sandwich and realized the chicken was essentially chicken tenders with buffalo sauce (that was the culprit of the vinegar notes). I do not like buffalo sauce, so that was a disappointment... wonder if this chicken was recycled from another meal in the kitchen? So strange. They also used spinach instead of arugula as the menu stated- not bad for me, but again, not as advertised. Rest of our table got biscuits and gravy and the huevos rancheros pizza. One of the nicer restaurants in Lincoln, with white table cloths. Lots of dining rooms and spaces so it helps making it feel more intimate with different rooms. Would probably still come back with family- might order something else.

Mixed Grill - Sirloin and Salmon

FOOD Coconut Shrimp Lollipops - shrimp well cooked and crispy on the outside. The sauce is tangy and yummy. Can definitely taste the coconut flavor which was delish! Tenderloin Bruschetta - grilled tenderloin on baguette with creamy horseradish, balsamic and tomato relish - beef cooked well and not tough, tomatoes are fresh! Crab Crusted Salmon - salmon is so soft. Risotto is a perfect texture and the zucchinis are cooked, but still crispy. Spinach cooked well it's slight bit of seasoning that makes it yummy. Crab on top is not too salty and crispy on top where it was baked. Strawberry Tonic - fresh drink that is slightly carbonated with slight mint flavor. Dinner Rolls - very buttery. Taste a lot like a croissant. The butter is soft, creamy and European slightly salted. DESSERT Apricot Torte - layers taste great! Not too sweet and the apricot adds nice fruit flavor to it. Cheesecake - creamy and good texture. Strawberries are all right. Chocolate on top is rich and good. Not too sweet. Vibes Lots of families and low playing jazz music. Lighting is on the dimmer slide, and the wooden furniture gives a very traditional, home type of vibe. Places pretty spacious with multiple rooms for seating. Service Our server was Reed. Food came out fast and they were quick to take our order and pick up plates. Overall super satisfied! Very personable, kind, and great!

I had the biscuits and gravy with an egg and bacon. The biscuits are very big - they were delicious. However the meal needed more gravy to make up for the size of the biscuits. Be sure to ask for extra. The Mocha was hot which was good because we were sitting in the front by a window and it was a very cold day and it was chilly in the restaurant, probably because of where we sat. If you are always cold ask to sit away from the windows. It wasn't my first time there and won't be my last. It's a great place with great food and desserts too. It's quaint!

Chorizo Spicy Sausage and Potato Hash

Green Gateau -Chorizo spicy sausage and potato hash -Avocado Toast with chicken We ordered off the featured menu, and I don't think these are officially on the actual menu yet, so I'm unsure if these names are correct. But... I had the Chorizo dish and the manager came over to ask how it was and if he put enough spice or too much but I thought it was perfect how it was. I asked him what they seasoned it with because I thought it was so good. My friend had the avocado toast and thought it was pretty good as well. Overall though I thought this place did live up to the hype!

    Seafood sampler

This is a nice and cozy spot for a nicer meal out. The ambience is classic and upscale yet very cozy. The menu has plenty of variety. I ordered the seafood sampler and it was beautifully plated and was overall tasty, however I did not enjoy the second fish that was present on the plate. The seafood risotto as the base carb was delicious! I also enjoyed the pre-meal croissant which was a nice touch. We ordered truffle fries for an app. They were good and I liked the variety of sauces it came with but it was not my favorite, as they were bit light in the truffle flavor compared to other truffle fries i've had. The servers were kind and attentive. We overall had a nice experience and it is worth a try

Great little place in Lincoln, upscale food with great flavor and service. We were looking for something new. We found it. We don't live in Lincoln but would be willing to stop by again next time we are in Lincoln.

Founder Joe Hager developed his barbecue craft through his experiences in Texas, and he's bringing some of the best Texas-style barbecue in Lincoln to the table. I placed a to-go order over the phone and was impressed by how helpful the staff was in walking me through the menu -- from portion sizes to side recommendations and other options. When I arrived, the order was quickly prepared, boxed fresh, and ready to go. There are several must-try items here: * **Beef Brisket** -- Tender, juicy, and beautifully smoked with a perfect bark. * **Pork Ribs** -- Exactly how ribs should be done. They don't "fall off the bone," because great ribs shouldn't. Instead, the meat pulls away cleanly with just the right amount of tenderness, much like competition-style barbecue ribs. Perfectly smoked and not drowned in sauce -- absolutely outstanding. * **Borracho Beans** -- A flavorful Tex-Mex classic made with pinto beans simmered in beer along with bacon, onions, garlic, tomatoes, spices, and chunks of brisket. The staff described them as "drunken beans," which is a pretty fitting description. Canyon Joe's Barbeque delivers a true slice of Texas barbecue -- the kind that pulls gently off the bone and keeps you coming back for more.

And is cozy and comfortable We were attended to by a very nice lady. Good advice about beer. My hubby had originally requested Stella and was told there was an issue with the keg. Thereafter whatever beer we ordered draft did not taste good. Beer in a bottle is fine. So if you guys wanted beer- pls go with the bottle option. I ordered the lavender limoncello spritz. And that tasted very good- delicate and balanced. We ordered onion rings for starters- that was pretty good. Bread was good as well- soft with a light crust and fluffy on the inside. We were a party of 7 and two of us ordered strawberry spinach salad with crabcakes. I'm going to comment only on my food and my husband's. I ordered French onion soup with strawberry spinach salad. My French onion soup appeared together with my salad. The cheese on top of the soup was barely melted- still looked pale. The parmesan on top was toasted to a good brown. The soup itself felt over salted for me. And the croutons in the soup was submerged in soup for awhile so its soggy. The strawberry spinach salad itswlf was delicious and I had ordered crab cakes. Crab cakes were nicely fried. But it tasted more like croquettes- like it was crab flavoured potato cakes. My hubby's steak was cooked very well- as he ordered medium rare. But he said it was not remarkably good. I went to the ladies and wanted to comment that it was super dark. Could hardly see clearly in there. And certain stalls were in darkness. Only a few had light bright enough to see. Overall, the dining area is bright enough to see. Our server kept checking on us so service is good. But didn't like that their draft system is not properly maintained. The cost of the food is not worth it unfortunately. For the price we paid, I would have expected a lot more. 3 stars because of a myriad of things Draft system, dark restroom, ok food but not worth the astronomical prices.
