I love this nursery. They have a tremendous selection of plants and they are grown on-site. This apparently makes them more affordable because their prices are less that the big box lumber store prices. Parking is super simple. Place looks very maintained. So many plants to choose from. I purchased tomato and jalapeños plants and a sting of pearls ! They have different sizes and colors of pots. And everything you need for gardening! No one bothered me which I liked but then again I did have questions.. no one asked me if I had any. Unfortunately I have to update my original review after being unable to purchase trees at the Green Gate. The place is still very pretty and the plant variety is great, but customer service is lacking. My husband and I came today to purchase a tree. We asked about paid delivery - not available. We asked about purchasing the tree today and coming back with a larger vehicle to pick it up as soon as possible - not possible. What IS possible, exactly? Apparently, they only rely on a first come, first serve basis and they won't hold anything aside for their paying customers, not even for a few hours. This is upsetting as large trees can only be carried in a truck, impossible to fit in a sedan, small SUV or hatchback. It's also very upsetting to be turned down. Apparently our money is no good here. Since our business is not wanted, we'll be shopping elsewhere for our future plant needs, sadly. Goodbye Green Gate. read more

Theit hours stayed open until five pm but the kid that helped me put up the closed sign at 4pm. I didn't find that surprising after having dealt with him in the store. I love this nursery! My husband and I make the drive from New Braunfels just to come here and buy plants. They have a selection of plants to choose from, from rare plants to fruit trees to herbs and cacti. Everytime we come here, we end up buying more and more plants. Their upkeep on their greenhouse is excellent. They always restock and have something new to look forward for. I've bought a pitcher plant, orange tree, variegated syngoniums, and succulents from here. They also have a selection of pots to choose from. While you are here make sure to walk thru every aisle, it's so lovely to look around and see what they offer. I also love their greenhouse, lots of plants on display from the ceilings and walls. They also can report and add a ribbon to your plant if you are purchasing it as a gift. They have lots of arrangements to choose from. Based on all the nurseries I've been to in TX, they are reasonably priced. Definitely come here if you like house plants - they literally have all the types you can think of from snake plants, fig trees, alocasias, orchids, and much more. This place has the best selection of unusual plants I have ever seen outside of a botanical garden. The friendly staff told me they were only about 40% stocked for the season. Let me start by saying this is one of the best nurseries in Seguin TX for indoor houseplants. I've found multiple rare plants here and their prices are so reasonable! That being said, after purchasing multiple rare plants from here once I brought them home, they all rapidly declined. After inspecting them multiples of them simply didn't have any roots at all! They were just cuttings inside the pots. Now I don't mind rooting plants myself but I wish they wouldn't be sold in that condition. Especially since they're not marketed in that way. For years I have been buying at Green Gate plant nursery in Sequin Tx; today I was disappointed when I realized what was going on with the pricing. In the beginning I thought it was an innocent error... but realized it was not innocent. When you pick up the plant from the shelf the sign says one price, the plant has the same price; but when you check out they change the pricing to almost double. When I confronted the older Cashier probably the owner; I read her as being caught red handed; she got defensive and upset that I asked her to remove it from my bill. Then as she kept ringing up my other plants it happen again and again. I finally told her to remove them. She was irate. I give this nursery from a 1 to 10 score; ten being the highest a 0. I love this nursery. Its a great place for houseplants but dont bother if you are looking for outdoor plants. My only complaint is they dont label most of them. They say its to save costs, but I would buy a lot more if I knew what I was buying! Other nursuries dont have this issue! When I checked out the woman didn't know but 2 of them. Unbelievable that I'm the first! Green Gate is an incredible find. They get new stock fairly frequently of perennials, herbs, vegetables, and tropicals. Their tropicals/succulents greenhouse is enormous and packed with rare or hard to find varieties of hoyas, philodendrons, dracaena, epiphyllums, cactus, and everything in between. Now, they don't carry orchids, but with the selection of plants they offer, you'd never know the difference! Not only do they have a stupendous selection of plants (where else can you find a blooming stephanotis???) their prices almost seem criminally low! They are currently charging just $1 for pretty much anything in a 4" pot. A friend bought a gorgeous mixed 6" container of shade coleus (at least 7 varieties) for $3. I've also never seen as many shades of bougainvillea as they carry...and everything is so healthy and transplants so well...which can definitely NOT be said about all nurseries! I almost hesitate posting a review because then other people will know if it's existence...but then I can't help bragging about such an awesome establishment. read more

I drove 50 miles and because the most knowledgeable person was still on vacation, I was told to speak with the owner. Rather than help me, she suggested in a very smart elic manner that I hire a professional landscape architect. The Green Gate is a commercial nursery that offers the usual offerings plus a very wide variety of propagated succulents and cacti that go beyond the average selections. If you grow and propagate exotic succulents and cacti take some time and go through the tropical greenhouses. We visit Seguin from Austin a couple of times a month and Green Gate makes the highlight of the drive. Note: the iPhone and iPad mapping is now correctly locating the site due south of intersection 123 bypass and business 90(Court Street). Advice: allot 30 minutes for a visit and do visit the antique roses. There are three or four acres of producing green houses. I would rate GG as one of the best nurseries in U.S. . I propagate epiphylum( Queen of the Night) and this the only nursery I have found offering rooted cuttings. read more
