I just wanted to clarify a few points that were raised above but not fully discussed: 1) This restaurant does NOT serve any alcohol at all. Consequently, they do allow you to bring your own wine (which is great for saving money). So be sure to stop into one of the local shops on your way there and buy a bottle of wine. 2) Space is VERY limited. The restaurant is basically the dining room of an old house that's been converted into a restaurant. So it can get very crowded. Be sure to call first and make a reservation. I've seen people waiting outside this place for 30-40 minutes to get a table otherwise, and the first thing the waiter asks to in-coming customers is "Do you have a reservation?" And it can get crowded on week-days as well as weekends.

Take out is also a great option as the restaurant works pretty quickly, you just have to make sure you have cash as the restaurant is not registered on just eat or hungry house. The dishes are great value for money. My all time favourites are the massaman and yellow curry with coconut rice. Pad thai and pad see eew are amongst the best I've had in London. A diverse menu that would please a big group. They also have a selection of delectable starters and tasty salads that will make sure you don't leave hungry. They also allow bring your own so it's a great cheap and cheerful night out catching up wih friends.

My friends also really like their prawn toast and pad Thai. Very authentic Thai food! I come here once a week or so. Their pad seewe is also very good (wide noddle with chicken, broccoli and egg). Their Thai iced tea is not very authentic (based on my Thai friends) but it apparently tastes good. The staff is nice but they're pretty under-staffed so expect a long wait time to order, get food, and pay the bill. Good location - right across from LBS. No student discount though

A restaurant doesn't score 5 stars for being perfect - no no, 5 stars are reserved for that ideal…read moremix of great food and feel within its own self-selected category. Siam Eatery has done exactly this, rising to the top of the food chain in the fast-eats Asian category in the busy Covent Garden area. First, the price point is right on with others in their category (think Wasabi and Itsu) at around 8 pounds for a solid meal. You can get away for 5.50 if you're not that hungry and don't want a drink - but then you'll miss out on their stellar Thai Iced Tea. And, might I add, this is the first quick-eats Asian place I've visited that has mastered - let alone even TRIED - Thai Iced Tea. DO IT. Second, mains are wonderful. Customisable and packed with flavour, the curries don't just peg to the meat and veg, there's enough juice in there to create that perfect coated, rich rice base that is why we REALLY love curry. Their everyday special chicken is stunning (think spicy-red curry), while their standard red and green are just as good and full of flavour. The options of red, brown and white rice, or without rice and salad instead, have reached Tortilla-level customisation without having traded options for quality (as Tortilla have done, IMHO). Third, it's crazy fast. Most everything is pre-made, as this category is good at, but they do so well to keep you from knowing it. Everything is kept hot and unpackaged (except for the fridge salads, of course), and made just for you. It really does feel like you've stumbled into a legit curry house here. The spot is busy come lunchtime, though you'll get dinner in 30 seconds flat. And unlike a lot of popular lunch spots around, they're open til 20:00 most nights, making dinner here feasible. There are about 10 seats in this place, but you don't need to eat here. Though it's nice and classy, this is undoubtedly a grab-and-go place. Seriously, though - don't forget your Thai Iced Tea. Would be a shame to miss the cherry atop the sundae at this gem of a curry palace.

The cafe is very well positioned for Covent Garden but is off the beaten track so not full of tourists. They have a selection of different warm dishes, varying in spicy-ness and meats. They also sell some lovely looking salads. The price is reasonable for Covent Garden with the veg curry costing £5 and salads £4.80. They also have a few seats inside and they don't charge you extra to eat in which is great! The staff are lovely too and will advise you on what to have if you're not a huge fan of spicy food (I only realised this after fighting my way through the red Thai curry though). I went back again today and had a delicious satay chicken sandwich which was very yummy.

I recommend you really think about the item you choose to order. As an example, I am used to ordering pad Thai from thai restaurants. It should've been a very safe bet for a new area. I should have read carefully of the menu as their pad thai uses a type of tamarind sauce. I know what tamarind tastes like so I thought it was fine to have a slightly sweet pad thai. It was a pool of sweet. I am used to pad thai having a slightly sweet peanut sauce in thai restaurants near where I live so I thought that was what it was going to be. Their whole sauce was tamarind based and I found it overwhelming. It was exactly what I ordered so I can not complain too much. I would say just watch what you order and give it a try

Whilst waiting for the replacement, rice got cold, so I asked the server to change the rice, but she didn't seem to understand English well. So we needed to call the manager. It took them a while to replace it, and again it was just left on the table without a word. There is a lot of choice, lots of curries, even the rice, you can have sticky, coconut or steamed jasmine rice, so cater to all your favourites. It is always packed and busy. They have expanded into three restaurants all next door to each other. One concentrates mainly on hot pots, one with wooden tables and more casual dining, and the other original one with table cloths, and next to it they have their own supermarket where you can buy presumably all that you have eaten in the restaurants too. My favourite dish has got to be the Lamb Massaman Curry, tender lamb and potatoes with coconut milk in a massman sauce. Just the name makes my mouth water, so yummy. The lamb is so tender and the potatoes lovely and soft, added to the curry sauce you have heaven in your mouth. If you get a chance, the hot pot dining is also very good and very reasonable. A great gem at the Mornington Crescent end of Camden High Street.
