I've been staying at the Grand Hyatt when I visit Melbourne for 20 plus years now. While I've always…read moreenjoyed the property I've never been blown away by one of their welcome amenities. Its always been common stuff.Wine, champagne, nuts so so common chocolates etc Till this past month there was a small box containing 4 pieces of The Ministry of Chocolate praline samplers on the living room coffee table When I do consume chocolate I typically want the very best like La Maison du Chocolat from France I didn't think much could equal or top them but these are my new faves I purchased 150 dollars worth and only sorry that I didn't buy more They delivered them to me for free at my hotel within 24 hours beautifully & elegantly packaged The sad thing is I wont be able to get them unless I come back to Australia.Lucky for those that live in Melbourne they have a world class chocolate maker. It's astonishing that the quality of their chocolates haven't been reviewed here before. I was once impressed by Cacao also another high quality Australian chocolatier that I discovered onboard a first class Qantas flight to the states and certainly they are very good as well However my vote is for The Ministry of Chocolate easily one of the worlds best chocolatier. Its exciting to be one of the first to share the word Don't miss a taste test. They aren't overly sweet, light, understated and near perfection if heaven truly exists .The beauty of the outstanding ingredients almost makes tasting chocolate like its your first time. Everyone I share these with swooned in The US and Europe Can't wait to return and get more.I'd be afraid to ship them to the US so sadly I will have to wait for my next fix.Lucky Ozzies! :) Share these with your partner and probably anything could be yours in or out of the bedroom :);) Cheers

Shopping at Haigh's is like walking into heaven. It is just a wonderful place to be - unless you…read morehate chocolate, in which case you need to get to a doctor. Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, ginger, hazelnut, peanuts, coffee - it's all here. My favourites? The milk chocolate orange tablet, or the premium dark chocolate tablet. Divine. Expect great service, the sales assistants are fantastic and helpful. If you can't make up your mind or just need some great advice make sure you catch their eye. All the varieties they have recommended to me or my family have been winners. If you are after a gift consider getting one of the selections that come in various sizes. There are ones devoted to particular types of chocolate, or enormous ones that have samples of almost every flavour. A word of warning: avoid at Easter or close to Christmas. Don't even try unless it is within the first hour of opening.

Did you know that Haigh's, a company that started in 1905 in South Australia, makes their own…read morechocolate? I don't mean that they simply pour their own chocolate in the molds or package it themselves... but that they manage the entire production process from the very beginning. From the raw cacao bean right through to the samples handed out by their staff. I've always admired their dedication to this entire process, one of the few Australian companies to do so. I also like that they go for classic flavours and don't do anything too "out there" when it comes to flavourings and fillings. Sure, interesting flavours are great - but Haigh's does classic chocolate excellently and for that I respect them highly.
