Went to The Great American Barbershop on Herndon today in Clovis. Let's start with customer service, I was greeted by multiple Barbers when I walked in they had asked if I checked in which I had and Ashley came up after cleaning an area and said she would be happy to cut my hair. I asked Ashley for a hybrid modern/traditional Mullet which she instantly was stoked! She held a conversation and got to know me as if she was getting a gauge on how the mullet should look based on my character. The haircut was phenomenal I am not sure if she had cut a mullet before but like I said I was very pleased. She was cool with whatever I wanted but I was cool with her just doing her thing and it turned out great! I will be coming back and now found a good barber I can return to multiple times! The front was several different lengths. After asking for my money back and refusing to let them try and fix it I went home and buzzed everything off because it was a far better option than leaving the work that they did. I have received the worst haircut I think I have ever had from this past visit (6/20/2022). I told the stylist what I would like and it didn't seem too difficult, definitely not basic but definitely not intricate. I asked for a 5 on the sides and back, and the top only needs a 2 inch max trim. I asked for to be tapered as well. The stylist faced me away from the mirror so I couldn't correct her if I wanted and proceeded to chop 5 1/2inches off the top of my hair but does the back and sides decently. I took my boys in to get there school haircuts and I have to say I was disappointed at the end. I first walked in and the girl at the first chair asked if I called in so automatically I assumed it was by appointment only.(Not a hi or welcome) Till the gentleman came over & said it was okay & to just sign my boys in. The wait wasn't to long for my first son but as I walked him over to the gentleman's chair he gave me the impression that he wasn't in the mood to cut my sons hair & he didn't even make my 3 year old comfortable enough to want to be in his chair. My sons end results wasn't as bad as others posted but he could have used a lot more blending you could see his lines on the sides still and he could have blended up more. Absolutely joke, nothing against the barbers but managements online waiting system is so off not even worth the wait. No haircut should be a 2+ hour wait, start taking reservations and fill in the gaps. I had a wait time of 53 minutes to start and it got down to 20 minutes and right before I left I checked it again. it was back up to 57 minutes, so I called to see WTF they said there was 7 people in line in front of me. But the girl I just talked to said she just took a walk-in. She got fed up with me and passed the phone off to someone else that was just as unhelpful. One excuse after another. Apparently I'd rather pay $10 for a cut at a nation-wide barbershop chain that shall remain nameless (Supercuts) and look like I cut my own hair with gardening shears than fork out money for a real haircut. I put my name down on the list online and was greeted by Rafa. Awesome dude that was very friendly and knew exactly how I wanted my hair cut. He told me what he was going to do before he started, which I appreciated. He also asked how long it was since my last haircut. This was my first visit to the Clovis GA Barbershop, I was looking for a haircut and a shave, was lucky to be greeted by Melissa, she was able to do both. She started out with the haircut, then the shave and finish up by shaving the back of my neck. The shave included 2 Hot towels, moisturizing oil and warm shave cream, then an ice cold towel and face massage to finish up the shave. Melissa was awesome, my haircut is simple straightforward, but my shave can be difficult. She did a great job, handled my trouble spots and trimmed my goatee and mustache with no problems. I've been coming to the Great American Barbershop (GABS) for about a year and a half. I have yet to have a bad experience or receive a cut that I am not satisfied with. The shop is well laid out, however sometimes there can be a lack of seating when it gets busy. Fortunately they offer the ability to call ahead so you're not waiting very long; something I really really appreciate. I also noticed that the barbers don't rush through your cut, they take their time, they make sure the job they are doing is right. Another nice touch that sets GABS apart is they are one of the few shops that still use a straight razor. Maybe it's a gimmick but there's a certain indescribable quality that is added to your haircut when a barber is able to correctly use a straight razor clean up your neckline. Perhaps it's the warm shaving cream that gets me. In the age of corporate shops and pop ups that come and go, GABS place knows how to treat their customers and give a good cut. This is a very busy place. It is not uncommon for the wait to be greater than two hours. I greatly appreciate the online check-in system that allows you to get in line virtually and go about your day without having to sit and waste two hours waiting at the store. I have been able to experience several different barbers here and I noticed that they definitely spend more time making sure things are right. There is definitely an attention to detail that you don't get at the cheap places where they seem to try to finish your haircut as soon as humanly possible. The atmosphere and experience along with the quality definitely makes the price worth it to me. I recommend this place to everybody. read more
