I just moved to Fresno last month and my coworker recommended this place, I went to the Clovis location on Shaw. The service was good the haircut came out great but it was so hot in there. I asked the barber I went with if he could raise the temp and he said his boss does not let them touch the thermostat or they get a write up. When I got up from the chair my back was drenched with sweat with how hot it was. I walked by the thermometer and it was 80 degrees in there and the place was packed so it made it way worse! Overall the service was great but I think it is very unprofessional of the owner to not have the shop at a comfortable temperature for not only us clients but their staff! I will be returning but I hope to see a change. read more

J-Royals has gone downhill very quickly. I'd gone to Samantha there for several appointments, so I always selected her when booking online. The last time I went, I arrived to find out that she no longer works there. The staff gave no advance warning and just shoveled me to a different barber without asking whether I had any preference. I gave J-Royals one last shot this morning, which turned out to be a mistake. I arrived for a 9:00 appointment and was told that Bryan, my barber, would be arriving shortly. Well, he never showed, and I left at 9:15. At 9:20, I got a text from him "wondering if [I was] still coming in for a haircut?" I explained that I'd been there waiting and he never showed. His responses? "Yeah well I just got here like 2 min ago I was running a little behind" and "this doesn't happen often , woke up a little late today." Texts are attached to this review. I had the appointment at 10:45 am on 02/10/2021 with Peter Por LOOK WHAT THE BARBER DID TO MY HEAD!!!! He literally scratched my scalp! I was so nice to him, but when I got home it is unacceptable. If I got any infection from the tools he used, I would definitely sue them. Never again! Horrible barber ever met. The hair cut came out ridiculously. Barber did the exact opposite of what I asked for and chopped off almost my entire mustache. I had specifically told him I just wanted the long and unkempt hairs on the sides of the stache to be trimmed. I went from having a level 8 Arthur Morgan mustache to having a 14 year old cholo stache. Wouldn't go back to that place even if they paid me to. Also the haircut was not that good either. Sorry guys, they offer kids cuts but this isn't a very kid-friendly environment. You might be like, "well duh!" Because it's a bunch of grown men cutting men's hair and the whole ambiance of the place is sports bar meets vintage barber shop. You can tell they don't actually expect people to bring kids in even though they offer kids cuts. Why am I saying all this?! One barber walked in wearing a shirt that said "Porn-Hub" and everyone had to comment on it. I'm sorry, but at the end of the day this is a business. That's not the kind of banter I'd like my kid listening to. If my kid wasn't there, i could care less what they have to talk about. I'm not some overbearing mother but it's just not professional. On the web site the guys looked legit, young and professional. But on this day, they forgot to account for their littlest customers. My son's barber was also late getting him in the chair. He spent a lot of time blending someone's fade but I can clearly see disconnect in my son's fade. He also missed hair around the ears. I was watching my son, he was very still for a 4yr old. Practice on more kids before you offer kids cuts, you guys. Or even, put an age limit on your site so people know to look elsewhere. read more

So i booked about a week ago with 2 barbers for my son's. One at 445p and another at 5p because i had something important to do later today and we are taking family photos so it was important i had something book. I confirm at least 3 times that i was still coming and also got confirmation that my appt was good. At got there at 445 and was told that the guy t. Raw i think was not even there. No one called and told me this. And it would be another 30 min wait so they changed my appt time to 530p. Okay so my other son does get his done on time. Not the best hair cut for the 42 dollar cost for a kid. But whatever. He liked it. So 530 comes and no one comes out and says anything about it so we are still waiting there. The guy finally comes out 30 min later at 6p . No apologies nothing. The owner is also here and knows what went on and never said anything or offer any discount for the inconvenience. So now I'm late to a event and no one here seems to care . The customer service was horrible. Especially for a clovis location and how much they charge for a kids cut. No prices are on the site . And when i called and ask for kids price i was told 30 over the phone.. But this was not the case. I understand things happen as a business owner myself, however the lack of professional customer service was unacceptable Especially as people of color who already have stereotypes concerning business ethics. Never going back, I booked an appointment online and it said the haircut was $35. After the haircut the barber told me it was $50, the haircut was terrible and it took an hour. The barber cam left the back of my neck raw from the hair clippers, I had to go home and ice it. To top it off he moved my appointment back 30 minutes without notice and he was still late to it. I just wanted to say as an organization they are kinda rude. This isn't every barber but the front desk and the first barber at front are rude. Also for those that care, this shop is listed as a "black owned" shop when searching on Yelp. Jay puts so much time and effort into each one of his haircuts, carefully blends and ensures that his clients are nothing but satisfied when they leave his chair. So first, let me do a back story... I get faded up every 8 to 9 days, depending on my work schedule. I recently moved and rather than drive to my old barbershop... I notice this place tucked in a 7-11 parking lot. I walk in on a Tuesday morning at about 9 am. 2 barbers at their stations, each with a client...no other people besides me and reception. Guy, at reception, u have an appointment? (I'm old school. I go sit down and wait til I'm next.) .so I say no...he hesitates and makes a weird expression as if I'm an inconvenience to him, he says well...I have one and before I let him make an excuse I tell him forget it...I can make an appointment next time and walk out...ONE I will NEVER go back. TWO, it's a business, and every customer counts!! THREE a reception person should never make a new customer, a TIPPING CUSTOMER feel uncomfortable...bad for businesss...so if your new to the area or looking for a new spot KEEP LOOKING!!! they obviously have so many customers you need to make an appointment !!! I came in with a man bun and i asked for a pompadour haircut but I left with a man bun, when luis asked me everything good I put my glasses on and i notice I still have the same freaking hair style i came with. When you call ahead of time to see if they have any availabilities for a walk in and they tell you yes, you arrive five minutes later only to be waiting 45 minutes to still not get a haircut is complete BS.
