The grateful chef has been a lifesaver post baby. Not only do they make delicious nutritious food. It is affordable also! I have ordered a few things from the grateful chef that I unfortunately did not take pictures of. I will make sure to do so in my updated review. Her meals serve up to 3 people and they are about $25 each depending on size. Every Monday she posts the menu of the week and you can choose whichever you would like. Pickups are Thursday and Friday. Your best bet will be subscribing to her email list because on holiday weeks she has special days to pick up. Anyhow I love that she offers allergy sensitive options for people like me. Everytime I pick up I make sure to grab some of her fridge goodies. Here fridge has an array of various side dishes, quick meals or snacks. My all time favorite are her chia puddings. They are always different flavors and just such a great snack. I absolutely recommend to all my friends and family. I definitely enjoy her food a couple times a month. So happy I found this place when I did. It has saved me so much stress and time being a new mom. Looking forward to trying many more from the grateful chef. read more

We heard about this place from our daughter and signed up for their weekly e-mails. Each week offers a vegetarian or vegan and a meat entree offering, available in two or four servings that must be pre-ordered. We had been waiting to see something that appealed to both of us when we would be in town. This was the week! A bit of a drive from West Des Moines but worth it. Serving size was very generous and re-heating instructions were clear. You need to order these meals ahead of time but there are freezer items as well as Grab and Go refrigerator items and some sweet treats available; I dare you to pick up your pre-order and not buy something else! After following The Grateful Chef for months on Instagram, I finally made my way over to the shop. The business complex is a cute little spot that seems to come out of nowhere given the other surroundings. Maybe that was just the way I drove in? I stopped in around noon. There was a couple having lunch and one other person buying food. I bought the chickpea salad, 2 pb & j energy balls, and a freezer meal which I'm SUPER excited to eat tonight. The chickpea salad has dill, and if you're a dill lover, you will love it. Robust flavor and good for you! My total bill was $25 for those items. Proximity wise, this place will require a trip but with enough planning, it is so worth it. For parents with new babies or anyone working through an illness, these ready made freezer meals are a gift! read more

I go to the place because i love the folks who run it and who work there. They sell food, too? This place, the food and everything, is The Best, and even if cityview never actually tells them that, its cityview's loss. Not only does the place SMELL fantastic (1st impressions are critical), the people are immediately friendly, and the food SOUNDS delicious and LOOKS beautiful! If you choose to ignore staff recommendations, the selection process is wondrously and painfully delightful. It can be a heart-wrenching process of elimination as you must choose what you WON'T eat until your next visit. the folks who work there are absolute angels! Your only regret will be not going there sooner. By the way, the yelp review asks "is there parking validation?" I'm not certain, but if you NEED validation for your parking expertise, just ask john. If I could sum up this business in one sentence it would be "Healthy food made easy and delicious. " But since you didn't get come here for a one sentence review, I'll continue. I've been seeing the name float around for a while when I saw she also had vegan options so I decided to order. She covers all the bases no matter what you are looking for paleo, vegan, gluten free, she has your back. She puts out a menu every sunday that you can order from but be be quick! She sells out quickly. The meals come in serving for 4 or 2, and come with easy instructions to follow. If you miss the deadline or she sells out, its okay, she has grab and go items in her store (which is adorable by the way) to be able to have some of her delicious meals and sauces. read more

I started ordering meals from The Grateful Chef about three weeks ago after a friend suggested it. I am so happy about my decision to try it! I'd been contemplating starting a meal delivery service but was skeptical because of conflicting reviews. The Grateful Chef came highly recommended not only because the food is great but also because it's already prepared for added convenience.
