I am very glad I was recommended Speech Pathology at Parkland Rehabilitation with SPL David Kenney…read moreby my doctor. He was able to help me get my new voice after losing my voice from getting sick and then getting laryngitis. I am on the phone all day in my full-time work in sales, so it was imperative I took the time to get the strength I needed before returning to 40 hours a week of speaking. It took three months of intermittent therapy in order for me to regain my vocals full-time. David was very open about each stage I went through in order to ensure I was completely aware of what I am supposed to do and what I should expect, even if it meant unknowns because some areas were unpredictable and I needed to be prepared. My attending doctor also made certain I was aware that once I started back at work with his official release, that nothing was certain about how well my voice will hold up or not. So, I asked to retain David's therapy until I was absolutely comfortable and confident that my voice would not relapse or drop in strength or ability. I appreciate also that David shared his personal challenges with voice needs which reiterated the work we had accomplished with me illustrating he was well-versed in what he was having me practice. After I started back at work officially, I ensured I took full advantage of the warm up worksheets David provided me from the beginning of our sessions to the last ones. It was extremely valuable. I cried so much and so many times thinking I lost my voice for good. David was so well-informed and knowledgeable about his practices that I was able to restore my vocals with his personal and professional experience. I cannot thank him enough for helping me understand the importance of vocal care and its reciprocating health. Everyone knows this or that, but until you are unable to speak, you will be unable to know the extreme pain it brings you when it affects your passion, mine being a singer/songwriter for over 30 years. My passion was on the line, and he helped me gain it back with even better vocals than I had prior to. In fact, I am now at the same or better level as I was in college when taking vocal courses weekly and winning contests. It's now up to me to never let go of all that he and my doctors helped me reclaim through David's warm-ups - that I still do daily - and overall cognizance of my vocal health throughout my life.

The heading should read Elliot Hospital Urgent Care in Londonderry. This urgent care center is not…read moreat the hospital but at the medical center in Londonderry. I had a bad cold with a terrible cough which was keeping me out of work. I decided to give this place a try. My regular doctor is at Lahey Clinic but I live in Southern NH so I decided Londonderry would be closer. The urgent care opens at 9 so I left in plenty of time to be early. I got out of my car at about 5 of nine to find another patient waiting in front of the door. They apparently do not open the door until 9 exactly. We stood there in the cool morning air waiting to be let in. A young couple arrived and hurried past us, only to realize (when the door did not open for them) we were not standing there to enjoy the cold spring air but would have gone in if possible. That couple realized their error and moved aside. When the door was open, the first patient was brought right in to be seen. The rest of us were instructed to 'fill out a form and put it in the box'. I was uncertain about this method but there was no receptionist to be seen so I filled out the form, found the box and put it in. I only waited a couple of minutes, if that, before they called my name. The lady who took my info asked to put on a mask, which I did but not gladly. I hate wearing those things. She did not complete my registration at that time but almost immediately brought me to an exam room, explaining she would complete the process later. In the exam room, everything happened expediently. The medical assistant came in and took my vital signs, letting me know all the results without being asked. Everything got written on a white board in the exam room, including the names and titles of everyone who took care of me. A nurse (RN) came in to find out more about why I was there. She made several trips in to attend to various aspects of my care, including education and a breathing treatment. Everyone was very kind and patient. I felt well taken care of the whole time. I saw the nurse practitioner (APRN). She did a thorough exam. Ultimately, she felt I had a 'virus' so no antibiotic, which is the latest trend; less antibiotics if at all possible. They did give me a 'breathing treatment' and prescribed 'flonase' which is actually cheaper over the counter but go figure. On the day I went I was no longer feeling worse than the day before, so the real reason I went to urgent care was because I had missed work and felt I needed a doctors note. All in all, I was very satisfied with the treatment I got and will definitely return should the need arise. I highly recommend this facility for urgent care. If you go online, you can see how long the wait is. Go to the Elliot Health Systems website.
