Hotel was more worried about the movie crew working in the hotel and not that guest had to carry luggage down these steps
    Damian L.

This hotel is lacking so much. This once great property is falling apart in so many ways. FIRST, the service is so far from luxury it is shocking! THE LIES, THE LACK OF BASIC SKILLS, THE SHADY business practices! Now for the details, this hotel was once the Kempinski Prague, and with the name goes the service and the knowledge on how to manage a fine luxury hotel. I booked this property as an American Express Fine Hotel and Resort, this hotel needs to be removed from that program, I have already reached out to my contacts at American Express, more on that later. The check in process was a total shit show, first off the front desk is located in the center of the stairwell there is no room for more than 2 people to check in at a time, and that is tight. There is no lobby it is a hallway with the world's slowest lifts. It is a grid lock of people. Not to mention some type of movie was being filmed in the hotel and there was equipment and people all around, the guest were treated like they were in the way. Even though a perk of booking with AMEX is that you get an early check in, guess what nope, also should get an upgrade, I got the room I booked the Duplex suite, I was told it was an upgrade. LIE #1. I asked when the room would be ready, I was told after 3, but more like 4. WHAT? Check in time for the hotel is 3. I asked for my bags to be stored, at this point they are on a cart in the small, congested check in area. The door man just left them there.. I was told he will take care of it. I waited for the door man to arrive back and I asked him if the bags would be locked up. He said, if you wish, yes. At this point I think the bags are going to be locked up I ran to the restroom only to return to see my bags still sitting on a cart in the middle of all these people, and this door man doing something for the movie crew. I stood by the bags and he then ran over and put them in a room, later to find out is the front desk office that is under the steps. Hours later when I return to see if the room is ready this small area is filled with peoples bags unlocked just sitting there. There is ZERO attention for your things at this hotel DO NOT TRUST THEM! ALSO THEY WOULD NOT TAKE MY AMERICAN EXPRESS CARD for room charges and extras, remember this hotel is part of the AMEX fine hotels and resort collection and they made up a story that the card machine cannot take AMEX! The staff were just there, nothing that would impress you, and really, they just depressed me. I know the hotel is in a non-English speaking land, but English skills should be found on the guest facing staff. IT WAS NOT! The English proficiency was bad. I found the worst was in the restaurant, of the outside area full of bugs and birds and the smell of cigarette smoke. It took over 15 minutes for anyone to come to my table, then once I ordered my drink it took 22 minutes to arrive. I also ordered food and it was not great at all. I wanted a second drink from the bar but the waitress could not understand, Vodka Neat, she said Ok... and then the bill arrived. Here is shady-ness part 2. Part of my booking I get $100 USD credit for food and drink, so I wanted to charge to my room. I was told 201 is not your room, I was like here is the key and my stuff is in that room. She said you must pay with card! NO! After some back and forth and checking, she said you don't have to sign anything just go. Then the MOST shocking thing, as I was leaving the hotel at the front door in plain sight there was a list of all the check in guest for the day, with FULL NAMES, and ROOM Numbers. This was located very close to the street but also in the open, not behind a counter. Your personal information is just out in the open. So as a test, I went to the desk, at this point different staff was working and I said I lost my key card. Gave my name and room number and they handed me a key, no ID check. So if you want to see what is in the rooms at the Grand Mark in Prague, walk in the front door look at the list of names and room numbers, walk to the desk give them a name and room number and get a key! When it was time for check out, I had to carry my 2 large bags down the steps as the movie crew was using both lifts for something and would not let me near them.

Absolutely loved staying here on a weekend away with my husband and pup. The staff were amazing, the hotel was lovely, the food was good, and the drinks were great! To start, the staff - cannot say enough things about how wonderful the staff were. Every time we had our pup with us they brought her water and said hello. When she wasn't with us, they were still rockstars. Have to do a special shout out to Ciprian who made it his mission to personally take care of us the whole weekend. It was my husband's birthday and Ciprian helped pick out the perfect scotch and made us feel welcomed like family. He was there when we got to breakfast and there when we had our nightcap - always with a smile and always doing everything he could to make our stay enjoyable. You're in good hands here. Our room was the duplex suite and it was beautifully appointed with 2 couches downstairs, a small eating area (with coffee, tea, water, and mini bar), a half bathroom downstairs, and upstairs a full bathroom with separate HUGE tub, and a giant bed that we could get lost in! The room was lovely and we were glad we booked it, it even came with an anti-COVID kit of some masks, disinfecting wipes, and hand sanitizer! A couple of minor drawbacks were that the upstairs got a little warm and the AC sometimes struggled to keep it fully comfortable. We considered requesting a fan from the concierge, but it never got so hot we felt the need to. Just mildly uncomfy sometimes. Also, the water from the shower smelled a little funky at times. Despite these annoyances, this was still a 5 star stay (did you see what I had to say about the service?). The food was good, albeit we only ever had breakfast at the hotel because we were otherwise too busy exploring. We could eat from the buffet, or order a few items (like eggs or waffles). We got the eggs Benedict and OMG. Probably the best eggs Benni we've ever had. The sauce lightly lemony, the eggs perfectly poached. So good. The rest of the buffet was normally winding down when we would come down so we would get maybe some potatoes or baked goods. They did have scrambled eggs, normally a meat protein, an assortment of pastries, and typically some granola and yogurt. The bar was a full bar and we enjoyed having a night cap and getting to chat with the staff when the evening was drawing to a close. A big thank you to the hotel for the lovely surprise birthday cake in our room on my husband's birthday. The garden also has a family of peacocks living there, which were fun to watch walk around!

There's a family of peacocks! Such an unexpected delight.

As my first overseas hotel experience, The Grand Mark Prague was a true delight. We were immediately greeted by friendly, helpful staff who informed us that although our room wasn't ready, they'd be happy to seat us in their garden restaurant area and provide a complimentary drink for us to enjoy until then. I had my first taste of the beloved Praha tradition that is Pilsner, and I knew that I was going to love it here. Once our room became available (roughly 2 hours early, which was an unexpected delight), we entered to discover a spacious and luxurious main room and bathroom. Everything about this room was a delight, even the courtyard view which looked upon the glass-covered seating area. The bed was very comfortable, and the linens/comforters were perfect - not too hot, not too cool. We did discover a problem with our towel heating rack, but the staff had this fixed for us while we were out discovering all that Prague has to offer. Much to our surprise, hotel staff made several visits to our room over the course of our stay to deliver gifts such as cookies, which felt really special. The European breakfast was delicious. In addition to made-to-order omelettes and the buffet options of hard boiled/scrambled, they will make your favorite egg dish at request with no additional fee. I chose the eggs Benedict and it was delicious! Guests can also help themselves to an unlimited amount of fresh juices, milk, coffee, tea, espresso, and even Prosecco to make mimosas. We had dinner at the hotel one night (be aware that most area restaurants close early, ~8pm) and it was DELICIOUS. The chef sent out a sweet and savory amuse-bouche which included duck and a flavorful chutney. I cannot recall specifically what our main dish was called, but it was a very flavorful pork with potato and sprouts. I enjoyed another Pilsner which, although not gratis this time, was VERY reasonably priced at 95Kč - not something you'd expect at a 5-Star hotel. In order to get the most out of Prague, we wanted to take a tour of some kind. After reaching out to the concierge, we were set up with a private walking tour from a company called Lucy Tours. The gentleman that led our tour is named Jaroslav and he was AWESOME. He had a wealth of knowledge to share and was very enthusiastic about Praha. After the tour was over, we spent additional time together at Czech Castle enjoying another Pilsner and sheltering from the rain. Such a wonderful experience. We feel as though we truly have a friend in Prague. When our stay came to an end, the concierge arranged for transport to the train station and we were on our way to Munich in no time. When we come back to Prague, we will definitely stay at The Grand Mark.

A great hotel with a beautiful garden where you are allowed to eat in (Watch out for the peacock though). The staff is friendly, mostly bilingual, and make sure you have clean water every night. But I did have to ask multiple times for a converter to charge my phone. Also I did have trouble with a lot of the outlets not working on my laptop or phone but it could have just been my cables. Our room is a suite and has plenty of space and it's well furnished. I did hear from other guests who had suites that they didn't have a lot of space and some had more. So know that all rooms in the Mark aren't created equal. I did overall love my stay and I was being nitpicky. Would totally come back next time I'm in town

The champagne upon check-in in the lobby beautifully decorated for Christmas was such a perfect welcome. Being so close to Charles Bridge and the Malostranska subway stop made getting around very easy. And yet the hotel was quiet. Caution exiting the hotel driveway through! Look both ways. The staff at breakfast were fantastic and took great care of us. We enjoyed the buffet most days but the menu items looked delicious. We enjoyed our free beer sample and a cocktail at the bar in the Refectory. Our only complaint would be that the room was warm for our taste and we couldn't quite figure out how to get the A/C on (or if it was an option). The bathroom was especially warm, we called it "the spa" We slept with the windows open and all was well. If you're looking for a luxury stay, you can't do much better.

We made reservations to stay for 7 nights starting yesterday (May 6, 2026). The front desk did not inform us of this but the changes began to emerge, very unpleasantly. First was their refusal to take American Express, which is always honored at every luxury hotel in the world. Second was fact that while they honored the room rate quoted me when I made reservations under Marriott Bonvoy, they quietly removed the paid for inclusion of breakfast buffet. Same room rate but no breakfast. Third were major service staff incompetencies. I went to an ATM outside hotel and withdrew 2,000 CZK (about $50) for tips, and the machine gave me one bill lfor 2,000. I asked desk clerk to break that into smaller bills for me. He told me to go to the bar, which I did. When I entered the bar and asked the waiter to help me, he stated firmly that they were not allowed to do that. I told him that the front desk clerk directed me to the bar but he was insistant, "it is not allowed". Walked back to front desk and said that I was very disappointed that they were not able to get their stories straight about breaking down ONE CZK bill of 2,000. Then I asked about the included breakfast that I had paid for and she said it was not listed in my reservation. It was THEN that I asked and was informed that they are no longer a Marriott Bonvoy affiliated hotel. I went back to my room ans asked an AI app to discover who now owns it. Apparently they are intending to quietly take over, then do major renovations at the end of the year. In the meantime, they have stripped any paid amenities that the guests made under Marriott while claiming to honor the same room rates. I cannot tell whether they now have new employees or whether they have imposed such strict new rules (not honoring AMEX, no bill changing at the front desk, no included breakfast buffet, and so forth). I told the desk clerk that while i normally use credit cards for all my transactions while travelling, my desire to have small local currency was entirely for TIPS for hotel staff. That did not seem to make any impression on her, and the staff seem very rigid and locked into the new rules established by their new owners. This does not bode well for the future of this magnificent medieval former Augustinian monastery. I tried reaching out to the Kempinsky Group through their website but their contact form only allows for certain types of queries such as "investor relations", etc. There is NO ability to give feedback on the policy of their newly acquired property, NOR is the Augustine hotel listed among their properties! This stealth takeover gives off all the wrong messages, considering that they have stripped away the included amenities from the hotel rate that was confirmed by Marriott. To say that I am shocked AND disappointed is an understatement.

Check-in was smooth, and I was assigned to Room 308. The 7am breakfast buffet here is complimentary, Pros: 1. Felt immersed in its beauty and luxury the moment I stepped in. 2. Complimentary 7am breakfast buffet. My favorites among the breakfast selections were perfectly jammy fried eggs, beef broth, smoked herring fillets, chia seed pudding, soft pretzel, blueberry yogurt, and this tiny cake with ridged edges that I forget the name of but I liked it. 3. Walking distance to pretty much just about everything I wanted to do in Prague, right in front of the Powder Tower, and just a few minutes away from the Astrological Clock Tower! 4. Walking distance from the Prague train station. 5. Even though the bathroom was kind of cramped, it was pristine and the shower was very nice and had a tub. 5. The mirror light in the bathroom could have been brighter 3. Could have had proper space to brew tea 4. The lockbox could have been on a lower shelf so that I (a petite woman) didn't have to jump up and see what I put in it.

We had two rooms and thankfully they were right next to each other. The rooms were cute and quaint, though a bit small. The design and decor were simple, but it works. Although, the bathroom/shower were all tinted glass and felt a bit weird using the toilet while my partner is showering. I'd wish they had a few more hooks for towels and robes. I do have to say, their toiletries are top notch! I loved the scent of the wash and the lotion. They even offered a lavender spray mist for bed time. Complimentary breakfast for us and it was in this cute indoor/outdoor courtyard. They had a made-to-order menu and then there is a buffet of pastries, fruits, and lighter breakfast items. The service was impeccable and always at your service, very attentive. I used the wellness area a few times for the sauna and steam room. The gym is quite small with a bike, some weights, and perhaps a treadmill? I didn't use it, so I don't remember. The spa room turns on in the evening at 1600hours, unless you ask them to turn it on at a specific time. Their sauna and steam room works extremely well, it's super hot! Service was very good. No language problems. The front desk staff was very helpful during check-in process, held the luggage for me as I arrived several hours before the check-in time. They were great about explaining directions, metro/trams, made restaurant recommendations, etc. Ironing board & iron was provided promptly upon request. They have metro/tram tickets available for purchase, saves you the hassle of buying it at the station. Stamps also available for purchase and they mailed out my postcards for me. Excellent bedding, SO comfortable & VERY clean! I slept really well during my stay here. Very effective air-conditioning (I was here during a heat wave... 97F!). Bathroom is modern, sufficient vanity space and extra shelves for toiletries. Very clean. Well maintained & great housekeeping service, leaving extra free water bottle and chocolate at night. Breakfast was included in my booking, decent selection of breads, meats, cheeses, eggs and fruits etc. These basics are usually what I look for in the morning, so I can't relate to people's complaints about limited choices. Location is simply perfect! Close to everything yet slightly tucked away on the side street. Not so much in the heart of the hustle & bustle that you get disturbed by loud street noise at night yet a short walk to everything major. Around the corner from the Opera & the Powder Tower, keep walking and you are in the Old Town Square in another few minutes. Walk another 10 minutes or so and you are the Charles Bridge. You can continue to walk through there and go over to St. Nicholas and then up to the Prague Castle. Both the Metro & trams are literally a block way, around the corner from the hotel. Past the Opera plenty of shops & restaurants. The two main stations, even for your international trains.....are just about a 10-15 minutes' walk from the hotel. If you have heavy luggage the hotel can provide you a cab to go to the main station for a very nominal fee, I think I paid about $8. A small convenience store is a few doors down in case you need to get some toiletries etc. The company seems to have several locations in Europe.
