Clean, friendly and reasonably priced. Try to stay on the top floor to avoid "walking" noise.

However, it was a goal to check out the lodge so that I could attest to others on its history. Emily at the front desk was so nice as well as the manager. They allowed me to walk the hotel, have coffee and cookies, take in the historic site and relax. I asked could I see one of the rooms since online the pictures were great and they have kept the original look and feel. the manager said he had step better than a standard room. He handed me a key to look at the Governors suite (see video). I returned the next day after hiking to have lunch and peruse the gift shop. Prices are a little higher, however the food is pretty amazing. I split a burger and chips. Food is great in the bar area. Dinning opens in evening but requires reservations. Pets are allowed for Small fee There is a golf course across the parking lot. Majestic views and well kept greens. don't be surprised but if you find yourself golfing around the deer, elk or wild horses. If you're lucky, you may see snow which makes all that much more beautiful. There is rich history of the lodge hanging in the walls and in areas to read upon. This used to be timber country and the original lodge burned down years and years and years ago. While at the Lodge check out Cloudcroft museum to take in all the history that included the Lodge, baby sanatorium and 1st Calvary visits, where it all started this beautifully small town.

Outside looks a little shabby kind quirky but the inside is better. Close to the little square of eateries and businesses. Food/breakfast bar: They offer pre package to go style breakfast and pastry snacks which was an added bonuses as we had kids with us. Coffee Keurig machine, milk cereal fruit. etc. It's in a little communal space in the middle of the hallway so I feel kinda bad for anyones room that is right next to that. Cons: walls are thin so you hear just about everything especially your neighbors tromping up and down the stairs and talking through the hallways. Probably because it's an older property. The garbage truck pick up at 7am on Thursday morning was pretty disturbing- woke everyone up out of a dead sleep. The staff not friendly or warm at all, in fact they looked mad to be there having to clean up rooms. I smiled at one blonde lady as i was coming back from the communal coffee area and she just gave me a dirty look. I said hi the bigger fella taking out trash and he was just kinda abrupt. I was like geesh are these the owners?? Anyhoo, if we ever get to go back probably won't stay here. Maybe check out some other places. Two families stayed in one cabin and had anything you could ever want in a home away from home. We arrived late in the night, and everything was ready for us upon arrival, the place was warm, clean, and welcoming. The place was outfitted, and had anything you could ever imagine in a furnished cabin (internet, cable, dishes, personal heaters for each room, etc.). No, the place isn't nestled in Old Town, but you are not far from there. Very close to other eateries well worth visiting. Join Jasmine and Jim Tritten as they travel south from Corrales down to San Antonio [New Mexico, not Texas], across to Carrizoza, and lunch at the Four Winds Restaurant, then up the hill to Rebeccas's in The Lodge in Cloudcroft. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals at The Lodge, and you will too. Just a short four-hour drive - so you should spend the night. Finally, we breakfasted at Big Daddy's Diner and went back home. Prices are crazy high too. My son was injured at the end of the day and we had to take him to the local ER. Needless to say, we were not able to return the equipment rentals but were assured by the medic at the ski resort that he would take it back for us. Shame on me for trusting him because he returned it three days later. All the while, the owner of ski palace then called and threatened to send me to court for the three days the equipment was not turned in if I didn't pay him $40 for the time he lost on renting the equipment. I understand that this is his livelihood, but when I stated that I wanted to contact the ski resort (before I agreed to pay the $40) just to find out why it wasn't turned in on time, he became irate and told me if I contacted the ski resort about this then I could forget about paying him $40 and he would charge me $140 instead. What the heck?? We ended up paying him $40, never heard back from anyone at the ski resort and the ski palace also ran my debit card without my authorization for an additional $8. My family and I will never do business with the ski palace or ski Cloudcroft again. In my opinion, it's a crooked business they are running and I'd rather go where the customer is appreciated and not treated like they're a dime a dozen.
