There is a view of the Ohio River from the couch (that becomes a bed) through a flood wall opening that provides a nice view over a static Pullman car that's part of the visitor center. The HVAC is quiet and efficient. The Chessie Room is on the second floor of an historic building and one must climb stairs to get there. The TV is awkwardly located in the bedroom but is offset by excellent WiFi. The breakfast part is a chit to Butter It Up! in the Market Square on 3rd Avenue, a 15 minute walk away but with a parking lot behind the building if you don't want to walk. If you do hike it you will pass Pullman Square and several restaurants that you may want to try later on. The menu is worth the walk. From the Chessie Room it's a ten minute drive to Ritter Park, as fine a city park as will be found anywhere. Value wise it's very good, in part due to the location, and in sort due to the comfort of the Chessie Room proper.

We wanted a place close to several Southern Ohio Points of Interest and it is very well located to Hillsboro, Bainbridge, Pike Lake State Park, Rocky Fork and Paint Creek. When we arrived, we were greeted by Jane & Doug - the proprietors. We immediately felt at home and loved the whole place. We stayed in the Rose Room, which was great. The room was comfortable, large and the bathroom was nice too with a great shower! We spent time with Jane & Doug talking and learning about their farm and getting a tour of the entire house Doug has built for them - what an amazing talent he has for woodwork. It was interesting to learn that the wood used in the house from trim to floors came from trees on the property - most of the wood had never left the farm. The house has tons of room for much larger groups and I could see us taking other family & friends for a weekend getaway in the future. We walked the property, which was really beautiful and even got to go on a golf cart ride a couple of times. There were homemade chocolate chip cookies and milk in the evening and in the morning Jane made us a true farm style breakfast that included coffee, orange juice, eggs, sausage, stewed apples and homemade scones - YUM! One other treasure is Luke, their 4 year old Golden Retriever, he only added to the warmth of the experience at this secluded getaway. My wife and I have travelled all over the country and stayed in dozens of places during our 22 years together and I can say on behalf of both of us, this place is a treasure if you are looking to get away, relax and meet some very nice people. You can visit or disappear to a cozy chair and read a book or take a nap - the experience can be whatever you decide to make it. We left feeling like we'd known them for years. Thank you Jane & Doug for a wonderful visit, we hope to see you again in the not too distant future.

Unbelievably comfortable, peaceful, and relaxing…read more The experience here is unlike most other cabin/B&Bs in that you will be the only guests. So if you are looking to truly unplug and wake up overlooking acres of beautiful Ohio farmland, this is the place for you. I was immediately impressed with the attention to detail and quality construction of the cabin. Since it is a relatively new build it is well-appointed with upgraded appliances throughout. The fireplace (gas) that dominates the central sitting area not only sets a comforting mood, but puts out a good amount of heat. Additionally there is a walk in tile, multi-head shower that would be at home in any five star resort. The cabin also has an oversized whirlpool tub to truly unwind in. The owner has placed locally made soaps at the tub and sink. There is a kitchenette that is really equipped like a full-sized kitchen. The large refrigerator, toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker, and complete assortment of dishes and utensils easily facilitates meal prep. There is also a grill, picnic table, and fire pit out front. If you plan your stay correctly, you may never have to leave the cabin. Two things really stood out to me about this property: One, it is impeccably clean. Two, all the extras that are the mark of a well-run getaway. The owner left a bottle of wine and delicious tray of pastries from a local bakery out to welcome us to the cabin. The owner also stocks the bathroom area with hygiene and convenience items in the event you forget yours. If you are looking for a unique couples getaway, you have to book a weekend here.

Super friendly owner very informative about the area. A few things on the negative side. The bed was not the best hard and could be updated. Tin roof + tall trees+ acorns=LOUD noises sometimes. Not best about 2am ha ha. But really nice place overall.

I…read morespent a few hours combing through all of the options online trying to find the one that looked like it would best suit our personal tastes. As soon as I saw the pictures for Bit Of Country I was sure it would be the one. I was so correct! We stayed for the weekend in the Three Oaks Cabin. The day prior to our departure a large snow storm hit dropping about 6 inches on the area. So we were worried about making it in safely. Thankfully the roads were cleared by then and we made it to the property with no issues. The drive from the road to the inn and cabins is steep and had luckily been cleared off as well. Even in the best of weather it could be tricky to get up there so a small car might have some issues. John was just outside the barn as we drove up. He waved to us and greeted us with a welcoming smile. He directed us to the cabin and walked us in to show us everything and answer any questions we had. He was extremely polite and welcoming and made sure that we had plenty of firewood our whole stay. The cabin is perfect. When I hear the word cabin, this is exactly the image I picture. Hard wood floors throughout, Exposed beams and panels, and a large loft above. And of course a large stone wood burning fireplace! The large stone fireplace is on the right as you walk in. There are two recliners and a couch around the fireplace and a TV (Dish TV), VCR, DVD player in the corner. There is also a CD player and radio on the other corner. All the chairs and sofa are plush and comfortable. There is a wardrobe to hang up coats and holds a few board games; Scrabble, Connect Four and Battleship. To the left is a bed and the kitchen area to the rear of the cabin. The cabinets in the kitchen are all rustic looking and cabin perfect. The kitchen has everything you should need. Microwave, stove, oven, refrigerator, coffee maker and toaster all worked perfectly. There are plenty of dishes, glasses, pots and pans, and utensils for your use. Just past the kitchen is the bathroom. The shower tub is full sized and water pressure was good and hot for the duration of our stay. Plenty of towels in the cabinet as well. There is a also a gas heater on the back wall by the back door. It works VERY WELL. The upstairs loft has two single beds and two double beds. And it was much warmer than the rest of the cabin. Almost too hot. Thankfully there is a box fan and a ceiling fan to keep it from being overbearing. Hot air does indeed rise people. The hot tub is on the back porch and is covered. It worked perfectly and was clean as a whistle. As was the whole cabin. As with anywhere when it got really cold at night there were a few drafty places but nothing sitting by the fireplace couldn't alleviate! One note is that there is no cell phone service there. John said if you walked to the top of the hill in front of the cabin you can get a signal but I did not test that. They also have Wi-Fi at the main house/B&B that all guests are welcome to use. Not available in the cabins though. I recommended just turning the cell phones off and enjoy being disconnected for a little bit! Bit of Country cabins is a wonderful place to get away from it all and enjoy a relaxing retreat. I can't wait to return one day!

We saw a flyer for the Inn posted on a board near a spot where we climb and decided to try it. We were not disappointed! The couple who own the Inn, Mai and Dustin, are very sweet, talented and welcoming. They've worked hard to create a beautiful space out of what looks like an old motel. The rooms were designed by Mai and are modern and spacious. I'm guessing the room used to be 2 motel rooms made into one suite. We stayed in the Paris room. It's quite large with a separate sitting area (where we put our gear), and a huge bathroom. The wood floors were convenient for when we came in dirty and didn't have to worry about keeping carpet clean. Also, there is a large screen tv with Roku and Sling TV so you can just click an app, put in your own password and watch what you want. The bed was comfortable and we took advantage of the jetted tub every night which felt amazing on tired feet. They also have organic soaps made by a local person that were wonderfully pleasant. And the room has a strong WiFi signal. When we arrived, Dustin and Mai greeted us with small chocolate candies. They were delicious. They live next to the Inn and are very attentive. In anticipation of breakfast, I told them about my food restrictions which they easily accommodated. Mai made the breakfasts, which were well done and generally were an egg dish, fresh fruit or yogurt with fruit, a pastry of your choice and a drink from the menu. We ate outside on the back deck (we could have also taken our food to our room) and sometimes chatted with other guests and customers. Everyone was friendly but not overly invasive. We also learned more about what Dustin and Mai have planned for the future for the Inn and it sounds very exciting. They're a lovely couple with great vision and the effort they put into their Inn shows. Oh one other thing... we casually mentioned on our second day that we were celebrating our anniversary. That evening Dustin and Mai unexpectedly popped by our room with the most delicious mousse cake. Such a sweet surprise! We had just eaten and thought we couldn't stomach anything else, but when we took our first bite we couldn't stop ourselves from devouring it. Seriously delicious!!
