    Gold camping lot.

Get there early to avoid traffic and be in line with friends if you want to be together. The parking system just stacks you in order of arrival. I parked next to an older rv that was running a loud and diesel smelling generator mid afternoon when it was 70 So the attendant let me shift to another spot. Phew. The premier and terrace and standard camping had a long hours long wait to get in on the hill. Gold camping was no wait. The campers settled in and the mood was very compatible. All quiet at 10 pm

It was a great camping experience once we got in. Perhaps due to double header weekend of Tame Impala Friday night and Seven Lions, et al. (Chronicles III) on Saturday the wait to get onto the campground was a little grueling. The premier camping worked well for my pop up trailer and abundant honey bucket islands placed throughout. The grass is extremely well kept and fantastic for trailer or ground tent. Everyone was respectful upon departure and absent of any trash or debris. I'd recommend and will be returning.

Let it be known I have grown to 'just say no' to hot camping. So naturally, the pacific northwest wins my camping heart with it's mostly summer warm days and frigid nights. My camping experience here was during Sasquatch this year so know I am reviewing the raw camping experience here, not the festival frills. The land is well maintained and it was mostly grassy throughout the grounds. However, the grass looked like it hadn't be cut in months. At times it felt like we were walking through bushes so I highly recommend packing the hiking boots rather than the chacos. The scenery is outstanding and adventurous hikes are to be had. The general store is located at a good halfway point between both sids of the grounds. It had your basic highly processed foods to choose from complete with a biscuits and gravy machine. The surrounding town is peaceful and small but there is a gas station relatively close. Tip: Pack thick socks and layer them at night; your toes will thank me later.

An all out free-for-all!!!!! If you're seeing a show at The Gorge and you aren't staying here you are doing it ALLL wrong! Dish out the extra cash for premiere camping if your concert goer crowd are on the wild side. The grass is nicer it's quieter when you actually, finally can get some sleep, there's more cleaner port-o-pottys and girls walk around with their boobies out! Can't praise this place enough! Nothing compares to a show at the Gorge or raging this campground afterwards. It's stunning!

Not what it's cracked up to be. Very poorly managed. If you do go show up 3 hours earlier than you think you need.

Ask the Community - The Gorge Campground

Do all gold tv spots come with power?

    No.

Can I bring an rv into standard camping?

Don't think so, maybe if it's a very small one. Standard camping is pretty cramped. I would go with premier at minimum with an rv.

My partner and I are bringing an air mattress. Is there a place to plug into an outlet in Premier Camping?

    No.

Can u reserve just one night for the Dave Mathews weekend? Having trouble finding a site...

Campers arrive the day before through the day of concert. There are no reserved spots in Premiere or Gold. Campers are directed to park as arrive. The parking spots for those arriving same day are just a few rows away so no stress.

Is there any way to purchase "glamping" options from third party or on Craigslist ? We're trying to throw together a weekend for Dave Matthews and will pay up to double for the option!!!

    It is all through Ticketmaster.

In standard camp if i have a camper can i park it there and if the vehicle and camper are to long is there a place to park the tow vehicle?

If you're combo doesn't fit in a spot you will be required to purchase a second space, is how I understand it to be.

For concert weekends like DMB with multiple shows, can you reserve a campsite for just one night? Or is there a 3-night minimum?

One ticket for up to 4 nights of camping. No options for anything cheaper here with less nights.

Is there a store or vendors in Gold? I've always camped in Premeire but have gold for a Phish this summer

The camping store is central to all campgrounds

Can you bring a camping trailer into the premier camping lot or do you have to by a gold RV spot for this?

You can bring it to Premeire

Are propane grills permitted at the Gorge Campground??? I can't find a clear answer on their website and I would hate to bring mine and have to throw it away or something.

    Yes

Everyone who works here is very friendly and looks out for all the campers. This year was insane with the lightening and they took care of all of us shuttling back and forth and keeping everyone safe. I've been staying here for four years STRAIGHT. I stayed ONE time at the gorge - NEVER AGAIN. This is the spot! Hidden in a cove of trees your sheltered from the elements and have all the amenities you need just feet away. They have shady spots, cabins, and tents available for rent. As well as, they upgraded their shelters, showers, and added plenty of picnic tables to share. My personal note: Shelly was amazing! I've seen her around the last few years and she took very good care of me this year. She was my go to for any information needed and was very informed on what was happening. I even forgot my toothebrush and she brought one from home for me. THEY CARE!!! She even hand painted the rocks around the campsites.

The second time I did it as a three night hike because it was after October 15th and I still didn't have a permit. Since that time, the permit season has been extended to October 30th. Either way, I suggest that hiking in the fall is the prettiest time due to the larch trees colors. Both times we started at the Stuart Lake trailhead (recommended due to reduced overall elevation gain) and ended at the Snow Lake trailhead. Now at the risk of offending someone I will say that hiking through the Enchantments in one day is like watching a porn movie on fast forward. You miss most of the scenery. My suggestion is to either get a permit, or hike outside of season, preferably in the fall, but stay at least two nights. Given that the hike up Aasgard Pass has an elevation gain of 1900 feet in about a mile, I can attest that it can be quite dangerous when raining. On the East side there will be mud & rock slides and in our case we had to duck out of the way of several large, (18 or so inch diameter) Rocks that came bouncing down the boulders with unpredictable direction at a very high rate of speed. Risks early in the season are snow slides and avalanches, so be very aware of the conditions when you are there. All that said, anyone who does not give this a five and tell you that it's absolutely one of the most beautiful hikes you'll ever take on must know something I don't, and I've hiked the Himalayas. Remember that goats are dangerous. Pee on rocks, not soil because the goats will dig it up for the salt. Try not to let a goat see you peeing or it will run towards you. Try fishing in the lakes; the trout are great for dinner up there. You should also know that when coming down toward the Snow Lake trailhead there are a large number of switchbacks and when you see the cars just down the hill, it will likely be another hour before you get there, and if you did it as a day hike, your feet may not be happy when you finally arrive. If you are a hiker, you must find a way to get this one done before you hang up your boots.

We had some problems trying to find directions out to the place, so here's directions from my personal experience. Directions: we stayed in Quincy the night before, so we took the 28 to Whitetail Road. Made a left on Whitetail from the 28, then a right on road 9 NW. follow road 9 NW and it turns into Ancient Lakes Rd NW. At the end of the road, you'll find the west parking lot. I am not sure how to get to the east parking lot. There's a lot of parking here, when we got there by 11 am, it was really crowded but we still found a spot. (When you are on Whitetail Rd, it might look like you are just driving through farms, but buried in there, there's Ancient Lakes!) There is a port-o-potty at the trail head on the west side. Trail head: is well marked, we hiked in about 2 miles and got to the lakes and the rolling grass area where you can set up tent where ever. There are some man made fire rings scattered through out the area. Hiking: After we picked a spot and set up camp, we hiked a loop around the lakes. We started towards the waterfall. It was a scramble up the side of the waterfall, like a class 4 rock scramble lol. Loose rocks, loose footing. From there, we went pass that waterfall and onto the backside where the east parking lot is. Which there's another waterfall there, and there's also camp spots there too. We looped around, it wasn't too hard. We estimated this part of the hike to be around 6 miles round trip back to our tents. Lots of people camping, we counted about 50 tents, then you estimate about 2/per tent, so like 100 people were out here! But you still are able to find solitude. We came across 3 snakes, an owl, and a marmot. Easy trek, not very hilly at all. Good for first time backpackers. The area can be explored in a day.
