This review is for brunch only and I do plan to go back to try out the dinner service at some point. Interior update is of course, beautiful. It was very sweet to pull up on an October morning with all the beautiful trees. The food was just OK. I was very excited for the cinnamon rolls, however, we had a guest that has a severe allergy to nuts. When we inquired about the contents of the cinnamon rolls, the server came back and said "Chef said they're made in a factory" which 1) Did not answer our question about the nut allergy and 2) Thank you for telling us these are not actually made in house lol. I'll give it to them, the factory cinnamon rolls are good. We can confirm there are no nuts in the cinnamon rolls. I got the "braised beef hash" which I was excited about and was surprised when actually chunks of braised beef came out in no hash form whatsoever. The beef was perfectly fine. The crispy potatoes appeared to be controversial. I liked the crispiness and thought they tasted fine! Another friend of mine really enjoyed the omelet with ham and gruyere. Two friends who got the biscuits & gravy said the ratio was a little off. There was one gentleman working around the room who has clearly been in the game. The other server we had could benefit from a little more training/support perhaps. I asked for coffee three separate times, which he acknowledged three times, and never got it. After reading a beautifully written feature on The Good Table in Down East Magazine, we finally felt inspired to go. This spot had been on our list since moving to Maine, and it felt like the perfect time. We booked same-day reservations for brunch and ended up having one of the best brunches we've ever had in Maine. From the food to the service and the cozy ambiance, everything was perfect; so much so that I bought a gift card before we left because I knew we'd want to come back soon. The brunch menu isn't huge, but it had just the right amount of variety. I ordered the croissant French toast, and my husband went for the burger. Both were incredible. After my first bite, I turned to him and said, "I don't think I've had French toast until now"--it was that good. The cranberry compote on top was *chef's kiss*. My husband's burger was cooked to perfection l. The coffee was amazing, served in the cutest little cup that made me feel like I was at a cabin-themed restaurant tucked in the mountains. The staff kept refilling it without us ever needing to ask. Our Bloody Marys were just as impressive. Everything about the experience; from the warm, attentive service to the inviting, homey vibe of the restaurant; made it feel extra special, especially on a chilly day. We were visiting from out of town and stopped in for dinner. The ambiance was quaint in this old house with a large porch. It was a bit loud inside, but the table was cute. The prices were pretty high and it didn't seem like they should be. Was nice, but not up to those prices. My vegan entree was $28, so obviously the cheapest. Fish and chips was $30 and large portions. They do have a kid menu so that was nice, but my daughter's Mac and cheese (which I finished bc I wasn't very full from my meal and who doesn't finish their kid's Mac?) was bland. Would not personally go again but the people were nice. read more

Pros: Food is good and waitress was good. Cons: Very loud - felt like we had to yell to hear each other! I know they added some sound proofing to the ceiling, but it is not doing the trick. Wine glasses are ridiculously small for the price and overall prices are quite high. I always want to love this place in the neighborhood, but still have some issues to fix. read more

Very overpriced and food hit or miss. Good: Bolognese was pretty good. Drinks are decent Bad: Bland / mealy fish and chips. Chowder was the thick / non-Maine variety and not great.. Bottom line: Please get it together, we want to support you but high-priced / not-great food ain't it. read more

We have been to The Good Table restaurant several times over the past few years, and this was our first visit under the new ownership. This is a classic case of the good news in the bad news: The interior had been nicely redone, looking clean and classy, but the friendly welcoming ambience of the past was gone. The hostess was slow to come find us standing around, waiting in the middle of the room, and the waitresses seemed likewise uninterested in serving those already seated at the tables. Our waitress was slow coming to take our initial orders and similarly slow on follow up visits and seemed genuinely disinterested. Those seated at adjacent tables seemed frustrated, needing to flag down the waitress for their checks or service needs. Overall, ambiance was cool and sterile. The food on the other hand was very good. The Kale Caesar salad was wonderful, my wife's Halibut was creatively prepared and delicious, and my half roasted chicken was also very tasty. Considering the prices, one expects both quality food and friendly engaging service. The Good Table Restaurant was sorely lacking in the latter. The staff is amazing ! Wonderful server, and hostess . But question why is it so expensive? The portions were small the salad dressing bland .. one crab cake 16.00 very little crab mostly cake. Fries over spiced .. haddock very average the halibut totally over priced 36.00 for small piece of fish and scantily veggies. Smallest portion of pasta I have ever seen. My wife and I came here for our anniversary. We were greeted with well wishes from the staff and a glass of Prosecco. Service was amazing all around. We had the Kale Salad, Crab Cake, Halibut, Mac'n Cheese, and Mashed potatoes. The star of the show was the halibut but everything was amazingly simple and delicious. As we entered The Food Table, the music was so loud we had to shout to be heard by the receptionist. Asked her to mute the music, which she did. We arrived for brunch. Grandson is gluten free, and the server stated they had no gluten free bread or rolls. He asked for lettuce wrap around the burger, and she said the only lettuce they had was shredded. Daughter asked for onions to be added to the mushroom scramble, and server stated their policy was to not allow any additions, just removals. What once was a wonderful restaurant with personality and flare had been sold a while ago and turned into a bland, boring restaurant with poor food and little choice on the brunch menu.the omelet was overcooked and ham cubes made it messy and hard to eat. An English muffin with the Benedict was so tough it could not be cut with a sharp knife. There are practically no gluten free options to choose from. Prices were high ($3.50)for an 8 oz ice tea! Wait staff is very attentive but it doesn't make up for the blandness of the establishment. We were so disappointed and will not return. read more

The hostness was nice, but our server was stoic, no smiles, so not sure what her problem was, but 1/2 through we received a new server who was excellent. Coffee was served tepid. The table was clean but sticky. Bread options for toast was white/wheat or English muffin. This is an example of the overall menu choices. Just didn't do it for me. The cocktail was served in a thimble, but it was tasty - so there's that, but way way too small for the price. But I ordered the burger and it was completely and utterly uninspired. Hardly anything on it and just pretty insipid. Fries were meh, too. Other diners got better meals, so maybe there is room for growth, but not too sure. If I go back, I'll get the roast for 2 as a nearby table ordered that and it did look good. Service was very good, so that's a plus. read more

The building was inviting , with lighting and seating on the covered porch. Marlo greeted and welcomed us. Hannah made excellent recommendations and visited our table at just the right intervals. Jenn checked on us throughout our meal. We tried a wide variety of dishes; rolls, crab cake, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, gnocchi, pork rib eye, mussels, and oysters. The food flavors were distinct and not melded together. We had the pleasure of meeting Chef David as we were leaving. We enjoyed our dining experience. The Good Table is a great little spot in Cape Elizabeth. The ambiance is quaint classic Maine. The noise level is medium, not too noisy but definitely not quiet. Our waiter was very helpful, wine glasses were reasonably priced, and I was able to eat a delicious tofu-mushroom dish while my wife was able to have the cavatelli pasta and my kid had butter pasta. Don't skip the salad, it's a winner. read more

We had a very nice family dinner and were pleased to get a reservation somewhat last minute on a summer weekend. We asked to be reseated as the outside area was a bit too loud with kids. Inside was quieter. The kale salad is phenomenal, it is massaged perfectly and the parmesan Caesar dressing superb, the burgers were excellent, although the fries were not enjoyable, seeming to be extruded, at least not freshly cut. I ordered a glass of pinot noir and I would say it was disappointing and perhaps not pinot noir - too dark color and sweet tasting. Overall acceptable but will probably wait to return. Stopped by when we were checking out the lighthouses in the area. What a great stop. AMAZING bloody's, and we are picky about our bloody's!! I got the spicy and just the right amount of kick. So good, I had to have another! We also split a bowl of clam chowder and a lobster roll. Clam Chowder was GREAT, with a very generous portion of clams! The lobster roll was good, with a nice portion of lobster meat. Staff were very nice and helpful. We were visiting Maine, and discovered The Good Table as it was very close to where we were staying. We first went on Thursday night and loved everything. The service and the food were great. Specifically, the kale salad and the scallops were wonderful. The kids menu is great too. We cancelled our reservation at another restaurant (located in the hotel we were staying at) to go back to The Good Table the next night. Highly recommend. read more
