We rented a house on 158 Deer Pond Circle for a family reunion and a birthday, close to Lake Norris…read morebut not on it. The house was large enough to accommodate 6 adults and 3 children. Plenty of TVs, a screened porch on the second floor was very nice to hang out during the morning. There was a grill outside, a pool table and games on the bottom level, even corn hole. We also ended up renting a boat at Lake Norris for Friday and Saturday and went out tubing, swimming and lounging around in the water, which was great fun. The resort also had a golf club but we could not find any tee times. At the entrance to the resort is a small Winery, which we did not have time to visit but looked nice. A posted sign said they have live music on Saturdays. It was a relaxing getaway. Please note: getting to this resort can be a little hairy, and will take a little patience as it is probably the last leg of your trip: a very windy and hilly 12 mile stretch of road took about 25 minutes during the daylight upon embarking from the town of La Follette.

Amazing park, pretty big and with tons of running trails. Perfect for bikes and walking, golf course seems pretty good also. Have this small office with a park ranger there where I suppose that there´s some one to give you information. Free entrance and the road is really easy to drive, no difficult to get there. I can´t tell if you can camp there, because like I said, there was no one around to ask. Anyways, was lovely to see that there are this kind of parks and really there are a lot of parks around here in KY! Safe travels!!

When you come to the Lodge and Golf Center you go into the main entrance and there's a hostess in the lobby. Since it was so close to Valentines Day the entire restaurant was decorated. As we were seated at our table we saw a pianist who was playing love songs softly in the corner. It was really nice. My husband and I were dressed in nice clothes but several people in the restaurant were wearing jeans so there really isn't a dress code. They had a Valentines menu but you could also order from the regular menu. We decided on the Valentines special: an appetizer to share (we chose shrimp cocktail), a choice of 3 entrees- Steak on a Stone, Lobster Ravioli or Tuscany Chicken (we both chose the Steak which was a 5oz filet seared on both sides and served on a 450 degree stone rare. The stone would continue cooking the steak until your desired doneness. I like mine Med but my husband likes his Med Rare so this worked out well for us. We both got a choice of 2 sides. I chose fried okra and baked potato. My husband chose mashed potatoes and green beans. We both got a dessert - a small red velvet cake plus a chocolate covered strawberry. The meal was DELICIOUS, the service was EXCELLENT and the atmosphere was very calming and pleasant. The pianist was an added bonus. We will definitely be back but we won't wait for a special occasion!

The owners are rude and a few other things We divided our 4-some up and played best ball to be efficient because they're still learning the game. We even let 2 groups play through because we were told no one was behind them. Ironically neither of those groups used the 90 degree rule, driving straight up the middle of the course Halfway through our 9 holes we recognized we were causing a backup to a pair playing behind us. We were running to get the balls not being used and occasionally didn't drive exactly 90 degrees but only at slight angles to try be as quick as possible Turns out the course owners were behind us and complained to the rangers that we be reprimanded because we weren't playing the 90 degree rule. Funny thing, neither were they. Understand it's their course but you'd think they would lead by example. Wont be returning Thanks to everyone else who made the 7.5 holes a great memory. Hope our play satisfied the owners on the last 1.5 holes

However, the tee boxes left something to be desired as many of them were unkempt. Also, the golf carts could use a bit more cleaning and full divet fillers as they were empty. Our post-round experience at the restaurant was fantastic, thanks solely to the bartender/server, Brenda Davis. Brenda is an amazing host - professional, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. But if you want someplace to hone your game with real people who care and a price you can afford, this place is for you. Yes it is your basic rural golf course with sand greens and some ragged places on site. It is also priced right and has several levels of play. The front nine is just right for the beginning to intermediate player. The front nine does reward good play but does not inflict pain upon mishits. The second, third and eighth hole encourages target golf and is a prelude to the back nine where the good to experienced player is challenged by target golf at its best with the fourteenth through seventeenth having bite if you do not place your shot in the right spot at the right distance. In short you can get yourself ready to play the type of courses that only the GOLF SNOBS play. This course is in the second year of upgrading and you will enjoy if you like golf.
