This reasonably priced day care offers so many benefits for our child's needs. The curriculum far surpasses that of a previous daycare we attended with the subject matter being presented and taught to our daughter. She is always happy when we drop her off with a smile from ear to ear. She lights up when she sees the Owners and the Staff. The Owners,Steve and Karyn, are always there to greet us and engage in conversation. They are extremely pleasant and personable to everyone and truly have a love for their business and the kids. The infant room staff is well versed in all aspects of child care and constantly keep us informed on the day to day improvements. There is a mobile app that shows daily pictures and reports of our daughter that truly helps when we are having a "missing our daughter" moment :). The facility has an open floor plan with the concept of interaction and attention. Children do not come here to be laid down and forgotten. As a new mom, choosing a daycare for my 7-month-old was one of the hardest decisions I've had to…read moremake. I enrolled my son at Just Children in Medford, NJ, and unfortunately, after a little over two months, I made the difficult decision to remove him and move him to another daycare. My biggest concern was the level of care and comfort he received in the infant room. I consistently felt that my son was treated differently from the other children by the lead teacher. I noticed a stark difference in the way she interacted with him compared with the other babies. At drop-off, I witnessed her warmly greeting and smiling at other children, while with my son, she would often simply place him on the floor without interaction and walk away. I also frequently picked him up while he was crying. Initially, I tried to give the situation the benefit of the doubt and told myself that he was simply adjusting to a new environment. I hesitated to pull him because I wanted to believe that things would improve with time. However, there were several occasions when I was able to pick him up at unexpected times because I was temporarily not working. On one of those occasions, I walked into the infant room and heard my son screaming and crying in a darkened room. On his last day there, I specifically asked how long he had been crying. I was told that he had been crying "for a while." Given that he had been awake for approximately an hour, that response was extremely concerning to me. What concerned me even more was that when I asked Kelly, the owner, about how long a baby is allowed to cry before staff are expected to intervene or provide comfort, she was unable to give me a clear answer or identify a specific policy regarding this. As a parent, I found that very concerning. I believe parents should be able to understand what the daycare's expectations and procedures are when an infant is crying for an extended period of time. I brought my concerns to Kelly on multiple occasions. I was repeatedly told that it takes time for babies to adjust to the personalities and environment in the room. While I understand that babies need time to adjust to daycare, I felt that my concerns were repeatedly dismissed rather than meaningfully addressed. I also had concerns about the approach to feeding. I felt that the schedule and expectations around feeding were structured more around what was convenient for the classroom routine than around what was realistic for my individual infant. As a parent, I found it difficult to feel comfortable with an approach where a baby's feeding needs seemed secondary to maintaining the classroom schedule. My son rarely slept while he was there, and I did not feel that he was receiving the comfort and individualized attention that I expected for an infant. There were even photos uploaded of him visibly crying, which was very upsetting to me as a parent and did not make me feel that his distress was being appropriately addressed. Ultimately, I decided that I could no longer justify keeping him there. I moved him to another daycare, and the difference was almost immediate. Within one week, he was taking two full naps during the day. That experience made me realize that the problem was not simply that he was "having difficulty adjusting" to daycare. I understand that every child is different, and I recognize that working with infants can be challenging. However, I believe babies need patience, comfort, responsiveness, and individualized care--especially when they are crying and clearly distressed. As a new mom, I trusted this daycare with my baby, and unfortunately, I left feeling that my concerns were not heard and that my son was not receiving the level of care and comfort he deserved. I am sharing my experience because I wish I had known more about the infant-room approach before enrolling my child. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this daycare for infants. Parents should feel confident that their baby's emotional and physical needs are being recognized and addressed, particularly when their baby is crying for an extended period of time.

My youngest son has been attending Just Children since he was 18 months old. From day one, he was welcomed into a warm and nurturing environment. His lead teachers have been consistent. No turn overs like mentioned in other posts. To speak directly to the program, his day to day is a well-thought out mix of age appropriate activities, learning and free play. At 3 years old, he has already been taught his letters and numbers, and can read and write them, too! Throughout the day, I am provided text message video and photos, which makes me feel like I am still a part of what is going on! I love seeing his activities each day! There are a variety of enhancements my child receives at Just Children, which he didn't get at other centers. Touchscreen computers, Spanish lessons, and offerings for sports or dance classes! The staff at Just Children is well educated, friendly and warm. They care about my son - really, they do, and keep me updated on his progress. The other review I read mentioned something about a problem with communication at Just Children. As a parent of a child currently in the program, I couldn't disagree more. The director of the school has an OPEN office at the reception area. She greets the parents as they come in, and knows each child by name. The lead teachers in the room keep me informed about my child's day to day progress, and each evening I receive a communication from the teacher with notes, food, etc. They will even remind me of upcoming events, or if there was an issue my child had that day (this is never a surprise -- I'm always aware prior to the email). In my honest opinion, I wouldn't think to put my child in any other daycare center in the area. They say that actions speak louder than words...so I will also say that Just Children is so amazing that I have THREE neighbors who also send their children there. In fact, they are the ones who referred me to the center. Their children have all been attending since they were infants -- and most are now 4! Thank you, Just Children, for taking such amazing care of my child! You make a working mom feel so comfortable leaving their baby each day.
