We have loved our time at The Goddard School. Our daughter started in February, and she excelled during her time there. She has loved being in Miss Chloe's class and is excited to go to school every single day. She is also learning so much. Ms. Carmen always has something nice to say as we come in which makes the day even better. In the beginning we were nervous about COVID and safety, but Kamal and Olivia were wonderful. The kids all wore masks, and had daily temperature checks. It has been a wonderful experience from start to finish. I cannot recommend this school highly enough. read more

Incredible curriculum (begins even in the infant room!), caring teachers and very secure building. Our son is really advanced for his age, much due to the environment of Goddard Bellevue. We have called this "school" vs. other places being a "day care" given the attention to detail of childhood development. The school directors, owners and staff are very approachable, warm and have a fantastic attention to detail. You really feel you are amongst family when you are attending this school! We particularly appreciate the beautiful art in each classroom that each student contributes to (and it is constantly changing with each season and highlights cultural celebrations from all over the world!), the Scholastic Book Fair, the Soccer Shots and Webby Gymnastics partnerships, and countless family events they plan! I preferred part time. they simply responded sorry we don't do part time. when I asked about full time they sent me an email with just the cost. no other information. I felt like they seemed very rude and irritated. I think they dismissed me before I even was given options. Expensive but my son's teacher is great! The only bad thing is you have to pay for the full month even though sometimes they close and take weeks off for holidays. It would be nice if when they're only open 75% of the month in Nov and Dec that they only charge 75% of the monthly fee (which is $2,600 a month for a potty trained 3 year old) read more

My 4 yo had a great experience at Goddard, Bellevue. The school teachers, administrators (Mr Kamal, and Ms Olivia), and support staff always went above and beyond to take care of kids in their school. We withdrew our child due to a job relocation, and would reenroll if we were to move back to Bellevue. read more

Where should I start, my kid loves everything about the school and she loved going to the Goddard school of Bellevue. She was so sad that we had to move to a different daycare after we moved back to California. She still talk about her teachers, her fellow classmates and even the front office staff. Not sure how I feel yet, have mixed feelings. They do have lot of activities going on, water days, bird watching, fireman visits etc. But some activities are charged on top of the regular fees, like soccer hours, or dance class. Unsure what the rest (not enrolled students) do at that time. Also, sometimes I get a feeling like its not staffed enough , the teachers keep moving a round class, and there is no guarantee you will see the same teacher again every evening. The kids break into fight and have bruises, not sure how common that is in other day cares. The directors are very welcoming and understanding of the problems, but I am unsure how often it turns into an action. During potty training some need help with the constant reminders , which seem to be missing too. Haven't seen any issues with cleanliness unlike many day cares. read more

Our son attended the Goddard school for one year. The teachers there are very professional and attentive to every child's needs. When he started school he didn't speak any English, but in a month he already knew alphabet and how to count to ten. Don't go there. The worst place for your kids. They will punish your kids if you don't listen to them. My kids went to emergency four times, and all the scars they got from this school. They never got hurt or injured at home or outside the playground, but in this school. The teacher just asks you to sign on the paper so that they won't pay any responsibility, they don't even want to explain what happened. If you asked them what's going on, they just pointed you to read the paper. If you go to talk to the supervisors, they just told you that its normal for the kids, and they start talking about how their kids got scars, Bla Bla Bla, they never care about your kids, they won't listen to you at all. read more

My son attended Goddard school for 2 years before we moved to east coast. I like the play based learning environment. The teachers engage children in fun learning activities to help them explore and learn. The school host events to engage families that create a sense of community. I got an opportunity to meet others parents and made some strong connections. The son's preschool teacher Ms Nicole was awesome. I was amazed my her teaching style. The admin staff was friendly and approachable They made changes based on parent feedback. The only drawback was that families had to provide lunch which was bit inconvenient for me. We placed our child in daycare here in the hopes of having a safe, clean and intellectually stimulating environment for them while we were at work. And I don't believe we're getting what we had hoped (or what we paid for). With two COVID exposures in our daughters class alone, we paid for two weeks of daycare that we couldn't use. Although this disrupted our work week, we understood the necessity of the school to close for safety reasons. When we asked for a partial refund, we were told no. In the grand scheme of things, not the biggest issue. The first red flag should have been the random unwritten rules the school comes up with. When we enrolled our daughter, my husband and I did an extensive review of their student handbook (which has all their rules and regulations). We followed it to the T. Then suddenly we were informed our daughter wasn't allowed to wear closed-toe sandals during her first summer there (this was not mentioned anywhere in the handbook and made our kiddo really sad as sandals are her favorite). Then we were told not to send small chocolates in her lunch (the handbook says treats are allowed so long as they are allergy-friendly, which of course we are as we have allergies in the family). Her teacher (Miss Jeanette) communicated her dislike of the treats to our daughter, saying "sugar is bad for you. Your parents shouldn't give you this" and then threw away her treat. This is incredibly problematic. We explained to the school that labeling such foods as bad can be damaging to children. We give our kids small treats as part of a meal to remove the taboo and over glorification of these snacks so they can develop a safe relationship with food. After telling her teachers all of this, her teacher sent out a passive aggressive note to the class about how sugary treats are bad and that from now on she will take them away from the children (no mention of allergies being the driver here- just that sugary treats are bad and no longer allowed in her specific classroom). When addressed with higher up faculty, they had no idea their teacher was making these rules and said they would talk to her about it. However that was a week or so ago and we haven't heard anything back from what I'm aware. So honestly, save your money and find a better daycare. read more

My kids go to this school. I am lucky to have found this school after touring fee schools in the East side. The staff is engaging and friendly. I get to talk to teachers during pickup and discuss with teachers on things I can work at home. They genuninly care about child progress. The school celebrate cultural diversity. We have been a Goddard family for many years and could not have asked for a better experience. The administration has been wonderful and diligent in their management of school curriculum, safety and inclusivity. All the teachers we have experience with have been wonderful in child care in the lower classes. The pre-school and pre-K teachers are extremely motivated in providing the children a nurturing environment to not only get the children school ready but also to teach them crucial social and emotional life skills. We have been apart of the Goddard Bellevue family for 8 years. We loved the teachers at the school and their passion for kids. The curriculum they follow is awesome. My girls learned a lot from school from speakings, singing, potty training to being kind, respectful, organized and all the way to sounding letters, reading and writing. They have a nice pattern of kids and family events they do throughout the year that we loved to participate in. I recommend trusting them with your babies and with your preschoolers. This is the best environment and best culture school that I have worked with. Since we move from California, I have worked with 5 different schools here in Bellevue and Issaquah. This is the only place that all the teachers are nice, friendly and helpful. The director is very considerate to the teachers regardless if you are new or old employee. I have a heavy heart leaving this school but working in technology business in a big company is an opportunity I can't skip. My daughters aged 2 and 4 attended this school during the summer. This is a larger facility with decent clean rooms and a nice outdoor play area. The owner Olivia is friendly and helpful and also onsite everyday. As far as curriculum, there are many scheduled activities (music, circle time, art) throughout the day and a more science-based curriculum in the Pre-K program. My older daughter really enjoyed her class and bonded with her teachers. My younger did not. The biggest problem I have with this school is the teacher turnaround. While we were there, both my daughters lost their lead teachers and a few secondary teachers as well. Additionally, their secondary teachers were always rotating around (they hire many part time helpers) so there was very little consistency with who was assigned to a classroom. This was very tough for my 2 year old who took a long time to grow attached to her caretakers-- Most days started in tears. Many times, the teachers themselves seemed to be confused with their schedules too. This was very frustrating as a parent. In the end, we felt this school was more like a "daycare" rather than a school and decided to find alternate childcare. read more

It's been over 6 months we have enrolled our daughter in this center and we are very happy about it. The staff is awesome and very friendly. I love the fact that all of them including the owner and director of the school care to remember, greet every kid by his or her name. They keep conducting many activities that involve parents interaction too be it be potluck, academic, arranging some dance, photoshoot events. The Goddard School has been such a blessing to my two girls, aged two and three-and-a-half. The facility itself is a great space; it's a new building and it's equipped with a gymnasium that my two-year-old especially loves. The teachers are kind, patient and engaged, as is the Director, Karen. It's clear that she has a passion for education and that shows in her enthusiasm for instruction and education, as well as her open lines of communication with parents. Additionally, the owner, Olivia, orchestrates fantastic events that engage parents in the school community, which I appreciate. Overall, I'm impressed with the level of communication and engagement among both the school leaders and the teaching staff, and their focus on cultivating a nurturing learning environment is clear. We have been with The Goddard School since October 2014 and I'm very happy with the decision to enroll our kids there. They have both thrived and flourished and have adjusted well to the environment. Would give it zero stars if possible. Was the worst experience we have ever had. Am scared to have my children in child care after this. The owner is the most dishonest, unethical person. Cares only about money not what is actually happening to children. Warned her many times of teacher problems, turned out to be worst imaginable scenario yet she still lied to parents, trying to protect herself. First let's talk about the owners whom I just adore . Olivia and Kamal are very welcoming and their door is always open for any concerns or questions . I love that they are very keen to have the best qualified teachers for our kids. I consider this place as my second home since we moved from another country and i felt I'm a part of a community right away here. OMG! Worst experience ever! We are so glad that we moved our son to another school! Please pay attention to the other reviews in Yelp and read about other people's comments about the school's owners (Olivia and Kamal) before sending your children to this school. The owners are very unethical and keep saying lies! Please read the YELP comments as well. Unfortunately we didn't. There is a reason that this school does not have a good rating. This is a small list of reasons that give this school a bad rating: 1. Teacher attrition: No consistency on the teachers, My son went through so many different teachers and he reached a point that he didn't want to go to school because he didn't trust the new faces. 2. Children attrition: There is a reason that you can find an empty spot at anytime in this school. That's because children leave all the time. After we left, we had a playdate with two other children from the class and both of them had left. All of us concluded that our children didn't feel loved. 3. Failed promises: We were told that they will use a second language on the class (for example Spanish) They didn't! It feels like the only think that they do is coloring! 4. Schedule is not being followed: Outside of each class they have the daily schedule. However, this is mostly to show off to visiting parents. If you ever visit the school, pay attention to what the schedule says and observe whether it is being followed (hint: probably it won't) 5. Time outs: We saw two kids that were put in time outs ("You didn't behave, so go to the back of the class and seat there). Not in my son's class but on older classes. We are against times out in our family and officially the school is against as well if you ask them. Apparently though they apply it. 6. They use wrong techniques to make children eat, ie "If you eat 10 spoons, I will give you M&M". This was happening EVERY day on my nephew's class who is 4 years old. My son could not speak at the time to tell me if they do the same in his classroom. 7. They use wrong techniques to make children behave: rewards. They even have a rewards table on the class room hanging from the door on the older classrooms. We had serious issues with the owners (Olivia and Kamal). The following incident is just the tip of the iceberg: On 5/31/2018 we gave 30-day notice letting the owners know that we would be moving our son away from the school. The following week we received an email from Kamal that he was "seriously concerned" about our son's behavior. We had a meeting on 6/7, where his "major concern" was that my son had started to throw things in the air. During the whole meeting, it was obvious that our son's main teacher was deeply concerned about something else. After Kamal and Olivia gave us a lecture about why a 1.5-year old child should not be throwing things, the meeting finished, but the main teacher seemed as if something was off. Five minutes later we were called back to Olivia and Kamal's office, because it turns out that the main teacher had already reported the previous week that the floater teacher had **HIT** my son, because he would not go to sleep! During the meeting, Kamal insisted that it was just one soft spank on the *ARM* and that it was not a big deal. We asked for a follow-up meeting a few days later and were told that the floater teacher was pushing him in the *BACK* for more than 30 minutes, trying to force our son to lie down. The following day we were told that he was patting "harder than he should have" on the *SHOULDER*. Both the main teacher (who reported the incident) and the floater teacher (who hit my son) resigned after the incident. Every time that we asked for more details, the story was changing, so we asked for a written statement. At that point, things became very weird. The owners started saying that it was not an real incident and that the teacher hadn't seen well, so they could not give us a written letter. We confirmed with the secondary teacher who was on the class the time of the incident that indeed the floater teacher spanked him and indeed the main teacher was saying the truth. To this date, we try to get a written report that says what happened and they giving us letters that do not say what actually happened. The first letter that we got did not even mention anything about the floater teacher. The second letter does not have a letterhead, a signature or the name of the person who wrote it (and the funny thing is that it ends with the phrase "if you need more information, please contact me). We see a HUGE difference after starting to the new school. Our son's developments is crazy. He started singing a lot of songs, he started dancing, playing football and every single time on pick up he does not want to leave! read more

The reason for choosing this school is because it is so near to my workplace. Unfortunately, it doesn't qualify as a good daycare for kids. As a mom, what I care is if my kid is happy and healthy at school. I didn't expect he can learn a lot, but if he is, it is a plus. However, this school doesn't meet any of the expectation. The teacher turnaround rate is so high. My son stays at age two classroom. They have changed at least 3 primary teachers for two months. the assist teacher is changing all the time. So it is really hard for young kid to adapt. My son has been crying almost everyday. My son once got used to the environment. But one week later, they changed the whole class into a different room. He started crying again. The owner Oliver keeps telling lies to us. She never say a kid dropped school, instead, she will tell you they are travelling and you are lucky to have spot. she never realized her promises to us. They will heat the food for you, which is convenient. But they don't put the food in the refrigerator until around 10:30pm. Say if you drop your kid at 7:00am, then the food will stay at room temperature for almost 4 hours. It is a concern for me especially at summer. Another big concern for me is the odor in the room. when I picked up my kid, I can always smell a very strong odor. And my kid begin coughing a lot after attending the school. He even got wheezing. Not sure if there is any relationship, but we decided to drop the school. read more

I have two kids and this is the worst daycare school I have ever seen. The hardware is fancy but that is it. The teachers are so inexperienced and ignorance. Our 2 years old son got sick in just a couple of days because he ended up wet all over after wondering around in the cold rain. The teachers just seem cold hearted and not care much of children in this daycare. They just want to collect the paycheck and don't want to show any care to the kids. The school seemed fantastic in the beginning, despite a high turnover for teachers. Olivia the director is hard to reach, unresponsive to emails, and reacts negatively if you bring a problem to her attention or don't see eye to eye. The teachers and director have described her as "stubborn" or "difficult." Olivia could never look us in the eye, and refused to talk over the phone - at one point hanging up on me when I addressed a concern. Olivia tried to force us into ACH when we first started stating that we were "going to forget to pay." Every month after declining the ACH, she hounded us for checks before we had a chance to pay at the start of each month. At one point were were given different reports from his teachers than Olivia and didn't even know which classroom he was actually attending. Our son struggled after transitioning between teachers and classrooms, and finally settled into a good routine, when they combined the two older classes due to a teacher leaving because of an "incident." This transition went well, having 2 classrooms set up in different areas of the building with stations set up in each for the kids to rotate between, with 3 teachers the majority of the day. The afternoon was a little more chaotic where there were 2 teachers rather than 3, and often times are handed off to other teachers of different groups. When my son stopped getting naps at school he would tend to be more rambunctious in the afternoon, which was never asserted until it became too late for the school to want to work on. There were some issues with bullying in the classroom late last year, calling my son names, telling him he looked like a girl (he has curly hair), pushing, hitting, taking toys, leaving him out of play; some of which I witnessed first hand. Sometimes our son would ask for the teachers help to no avail. This seemed to resolve just prior to parent-teacher conference. I brought it up and it seemed like it wasn't an issue and our son was doing wonderfully. However, last month he came home with a big bruise below his eye - almost a black eye. No one knew how he got it, there was no report, and no documentation; we've been concerned and still haven't gotten an answer - 4 weeks later and the bruise still showing. A few weeks ago he was encouraged by another boy to throw sharp glass objects kept in the classroom - when he did this, one of the pieces landed in another child's eye accidentally. We were blamed for the accident as an "attack" despite what was reported. The following week the parents were upset and requesting that our son not be in the classroom when their son returned to school; Olivia requested that we remove him from class, which I did not agree with. It was at this time that Olivia brought to our attention another incident which supposedly only she had witnessed, claiming that our son attacked this child as well, and suggested that we take him to a specialist. The incident hadn't been reported to us until 6 days later, during this meeting, with no documentation. During this meeting I also addressed my concerns regarding the lack of respect Olivia has shown me; she did not take it well and refused to respond or apologize. At this point we assumed the meeting over, and Olivia and the director Karen were to get back to us the following evening around 7pm to inform us whether our son would be allowed in class or not after speaking with the other parents. I received an email After Midnight that night informing us our son could not be in school that day, and telling us that if another "incident" happens that he would be disenrolled. I contacted corporate due to the tone used throughout the email, who then contacted Olivia. However, Olivia told them that there had been a third incident which supposedly happened during our meeting, 15 minutes prior to the end of the meeting. Because of this, Karen and the teacher requested a meeting with us, per corporate. In the meeting they brought the incident to our attention; the incident wasn't reported in a timely manner or documented properly, claimed to have been reported to us but was not, and witnessed by only the director's daughter. This incident Olivia became aware of before her email to me, and unmentioned. They are unwilling to work with us despite the concerns I brought up regarding the lack of structure in the afternoon which is when the incidents were occurring, and the change in our son's napping schedule at school. We were disenrolled. Needless to say this has not been a pleasant experience. And while I thought the teacher was great, she brought up concerns in the meeting which should have been brought up months ago and I'm quite upset about. Our son is not a danger, and I'm displeased at how the school has handled this whole ordeal. read more

This is a terrible choice for your little ones. My kid was there for more than a year. The teachers are over worked and they are not prepared to handle kids. Multiple times the diet restrictions were not followed for my kid. Management is rude and there is a SUPER high teacher turn over. My kid went through 6 teacher changes in less than a year. RUDE and GREEDY management. We hanged around for a year in the hope that things will improve but they never did. We were very happy after we changed the school. read more

My son just turned five. It is just four months when he started going to Goddard but i observed great improvement in his reading, writing and behavioral skills. Four months back he knew the letters but couldn't read them as a word however now he just loves reading. He can really hold the pencil properly and write without much efforts. The whole credit goes to Miss Maggie and Miss Carmon who make a great team at Goddard to make sure kids give their best and are engaged whole day. Also thanks to the Goddard management for setting up a very friendly environment and giving ample opportunity to every kid to grow and get best out of him. However one thing is troubling that when i pick up my son in the eve, he reads at least two books before he leaves so i have to wait for 15 min every day because my son is happily reading the books. As a previous reviewer noted the school has a decent facility and large and clean rooms. The owner Olivia is engaged with the ongoings of the school and organizes. some fun activities for the kids. My 2 year old attended the school for some months but unfortunately, he was never able to get settled. It was a heart break everyday to drop him off and walk away. The teachers were in a constant churn (they have very high attrition) and not engaged with the kids. One of my child's better teachers told me that the school negotiated a $10 - 11 per hour rate with part-timers and young student interns to keep their costs down. As a result the faculty of teachers was always churning, leaving as soon as they found a better option. The kids suffered as they could never get attached with any of the ever changing staff. Nor did the faculty provide their full commitment as they saw the job as a part-time gig. Other parents I spoke with had a very similar experience.
