RC Hobby - FRIDAY NIGHT RACERS

I have more 5 star reviews than any other rating and I blame Yelp for that...I use it to find the…read morebest places so I'm more likely to go to 5 star places. All that considered, this place is a solid 5 stars if not 6 because of its uniqueness. I've walked in here many times over the years but it was nothing more than passing boredom and exploring the town. The last time I visited I decided to really get into it. We rented a Mini-Z race car for 30 minutes for $10. The owner lady really gave us about 40-45 minutes which my 11 year old son really enjoyed. But before we even had a chance to race our car, one of the regulars gave him one of his cars to "break in the tires" just as you would real race car tires. He loved it! And then another regular let him drive one of his 4x4 trucks up the crawler table! They have a huge racetrack that takes up most of the space. This is specifically for min-z RWD cars and other RWD cars. They have a bunch of spots on the floor marked where you should stand to race your car. Each car has a transponder and they have a computer system that can time each cars laps and determine the winner, supposedly this is even webcasted on Friday nights when they have all the pro's come in and race for real. But on a Saturday it's just regular people and kids coming to play. I believe the limit is six cars at a time and I have no idea how they handle a waitlist. The crawler track sits on the end of the racetrack and it's for 4x4's. It's on a pulley system so they can lift it up and extend the racetrack on Friday nights. However, outside directly in the back they have yet another 4x4 crawler area. Both tracks present their own unique challenges. All in all this is an amazing activity to do with family or friends that doesn't involve drinking. Fuquay-Varina has around 50 breweries now and 100 bars, some pretending to be restaurants, as of 2025, so finding non-alcoholic activities is great for when you need a break from all the beer. I didn't know they sell Lego and it's pretty much the same price as what you'd see on Amazon or at Kohls, so why not shop local? They obviously sell a ton of RC items such as cars, 4x4s, boats, planes. They sell all the accessories for them down to different sets of rims. They have model car building kits and supplies. Tons of hobby related items. If Christmas hadn't just passed I would probably have walked out with a 4x4 or RWD race car...so you know for sure I'll be back. If you buy your cars here you can use the tracks forever for free which is a huge perk!

After being out of the Hobby Scene for 20 years, I stopped in here on a whim and met Otto and Anna…read more The embody the reason that I loved the RC Hobby community. Everything here is about the kids and the pure enjoyment of things. Ottos happiest helping you discover, make, build or invent whatever it is that you want to- and he's brutally honest about the product. He's going to tell you what his experience is, what's worked and what doesn't work. He points you to the right kits and the best bang for your buck- be that a scale 4wd crawler or a simple foam glider. He stocks the parts you'll need for kits he sells, and won't shy from sending you to a big box for something he can't stock at a reasonable price. Anna and Otto make this store feel like a home to all his guests. I think that's what their secret to success is. Come by, look around. They welcome all, and tirelessly answer questions. Great people. Great shop. Great prices. Great products.

They're almost…read moreindispensible fot crafters and seamstresses, with a higher-end atmosphere than your average craft or fabric store. The selection of holiday decor, party supplies and themed housewares for hosting the perfect holiday banquet or party is superb! Love home decorating? Don't think you can just go in and grab a few items, because it won't happen. You can spend hours wandering through this adult candy store! Prices are very reasonable, and offered in a range for every income bracket. You'll find something beautiful that fits your budget. I enjoy beadwork, and Hobby Lobby has the best selection of crystals that I've found in this state - from cheapstock rhinestones to Swarovski Crystals. It's a jewelry hobbyist's paradise. I just purchased a new home and this was one of my first stops for wall art, candles, art objects, candles and seasonal decor for fall. Hosting your family's Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner? You'll find everything you need for a splendidly decorated tree (they sell the trees too!), exquisite dinnerware and glassware for your table and gifts! Hobby Lobby offers a selection of puzzles and toys, wonderful dollhouse kits and miniature furnishings, craft kits for beginners - everything inder the sun. The fabric selection is small, but quality is equal to specialty shops like Joann's, and Hobby Lobby's prices often beat theirs. It's just plain fun to shop here, or while away a boring day meandering through aisles of exquisite items.

You know the scene that is common to movies, where a light shines from heaven when someone walks in…read moresomewhere, and angels sing, AHHHHHH-AAAAHHHHHH!!!!, and you know you have entered into the proverbial promised land??!?!?!?......yeah....that's what happens to me EVERY TIME i walk into hobby lobby. i cannot even BEGIN to tell you how much i love this place. I drive from Youngsville (Raleigh area) to get to this place (or the one in Rocky Mount) since we aren't fortunate enough to have one. What is hobby lobby you ask?!?!!? Welllll, let's pretend you threw sunshine, singing angels, Garden Ridge, Joann's, A.C.Moore, Micheal's and a dash of Party City into a blender and poured out a store.....IT WOULD BE HOBBY LOBBY!!!! Now some might say i'm a little biased b/c i worked at a hobby lobby part time when i got out of college....but that was like 10 years ago, so i think my bias is no longer a bias. If anything it gives me knowledge of how to help you enjoy hobby lobby to the hilt! It does not matter what craft or hobby you do, i'm pretty sure they have it here. Here's a list of some of the things they have: Papercrafting, scrapbooking, stained glass, make your own soaps, floral stuff (and they have some of the most beautiful 'fake' flowers and greenery you will see anywhere) sewing stuff, wood crafting, framing, home decor, cake decorating, party supplies, model cars and trains, painting, jewelry crafting, and any and every holiday need you might have.......and that my friends is just scratching the surface! So what tips will make you Hobby Lobby Savvy?! i'm so glad you asked! 1. the owner's of hobby lobby are Christian, as a result they value family time and christian values. For Hobby This translates into two important factors for store hours: a. CLOSED ON SUNDAYS!!! (good for them!) b. CLOSE AT 8 P.M. so that people aren't out all hours of the night working and can spend some time with family. They also tend to close around 5 on a lot of different holidays. So call before you head over if it's a holiday. 2. Hobby Lobby Prices: Hobby Lobby Price tend to be a little high HOWEVER just about EVERYTHING will go on sale about once a month. Sign up for their weekly flier that comes in your e-mail and you can stay on top of what is on sale each week. *IMPORTANT SALE INFORMATION: there are times that things go on sale and it is important to read the flyer. the flyer will ALWAYS list exclusions. A great example are the candles. more often than not when candles go on sale it will say something like 'excludes LEDs and tealights'. I've seen a lot of people get cranky over this one. They's say a tealight is a candle! BUT it's in the exclusion part of the sale flyer, and typically tealights and LED Candles go on sale separate from regular candles. So before you go to the register and act like a donkey and get your panties in a wad, make sure you read the bottom of the sale flyer in the section you're in, it will list exclusions. 3. COUPON! If it's not on sale there is usually a 40% coupon either, in the news paper, in your e-mail, or on their website. AND they will take the coupon off your smart phone, so no need to print it out. Now the catch is one person per coupon per day and if it's already on sale, you can't use the coupon with that item....but personally, i really don't mind going to hobby lobby daily, heck, every time i'm near one, i'll go in just to walk around even if i don't need anything, just to see all the fun sstuff and get craft ideas Alright, I think you are now hobby lobby savvy! GO! HAVE FUN! *angels singing* AAAAAAHHHHH-AAAAAHHHHH!
