The beautiful George Manor at the corner of 15th & Market Street.

This charming 1860's home at the corner of Market and 15th Streets has been beautifully restored and is available for reservations. I found this listing on Expedia, but you can book directly through their website. It is located near The Strand. We had such a delightful 3 night stay at this beautiful property! We were warmly greeted by Graham George (the owner) and Valerie Green. Rosie made sure we had clean towels and everything we needed to be comfortable. We stayed in The White Suite, which is located upstairs in the main house and it was absolutely gorgeous! We had a little problem with the bathroom door sticking but it was taken care of promptly by Will, who we found out did most of the renovations. The spacious bathroom for this suite is private, not shared, located right across the hall from the room, and a key is provided to lock it. We really enjoy staying at Bed & Breakfast's because it feels like you are a guest in an extended relative's home. The staff is so accommodating and really supports each other with the common goal of pleasing the guest. The king sized bed was very comfortable. The bathroom had a claw foot tub as well as a separate shower. It was fun exploring the grounds and finding a giant chess set, a gazebo and a carving of Abe Lincoln! We enjoyed sitting in the comfortable chairs on the covered porch! You can make a reservation for a big breakfast, high tea or dinner. A light breakfast is included in your stay (coffee, orange juice, toast, muffins, cereal, etc). If you love historical homes, this one is a real beauty and the staff is just delightful!

Lovely little spot at an affordable price for afternoon tea. Chef Michael is quite personable and loved chatting with him. The sweets, tarts, sandwiches and quiche was more than plenty for the two of us. I loved they had PG Tips tea!! My friend had Taylor's lemon orange tea and just loved hers. The clotted cream with jam and scones was lovely and some of my British favs like Battenburg cake. Thank you for a lovely girls afternoon.

Without question, a happy accident when we found this place. Cruising out of Galveston, we looked for non-chain accommodations. What we got was a lovely room in a beautifully renovated home, a full-service breakfast and kind, friendly and attentive service from Valerie and Graham. Without a doubt, a stay again. Honestly, it was like we were old friends that came to visit.

When he says he'll care of everything, he absolutely means it... Richard is one of a kind! We brought 12 friends down to Galveston and rented the house for the entire weekend... Our crew was absolutely blown away by how much attention to detail was put into every aspect of their stay. Each of the rooms has such a distinct personality, and the charm of the old house is put on full display to shine through. Richard checked in with us a few times during the evening to make sure we had everything we needed. On Saturday morning, breakfast was served and WOW--Logan knows his way around the kitchen. Our friends were so impressed with the food and even requested the recipes of a few items. When we slipped out to enjoy the Strand for a few hours that afternoon, Richard and his team refreshed our rooms. We decided to host a dinner with more guests Saturday evening to celebrate 5 years, and that went off without a hitch. Cocktail hour with the famous Lasker charcuterie board was enjoyed by all, and the barbecue spread for our main course was absolutely delicious! As an added treat, Richard had a miniature version of our original wedding cake for guests to enjoy. It was a hit! Sunday morning breakfast was just as delicious as Saturday's... Logan's famous hangover hash was gobbled up, and the yogurt parfaits hit the spot. We can't say enough about how much we love The Lasker, Richard, and his entire team... Their goal is to make every stay memorable, no matter the occasion, and they flawlessly execute every time.

We wanted to do something special with just us and Avenue O was the perfect choice! Polly and Jeff were absolute pleasures to work with! This historic home was so charming and cozy. I loved how beautifully it was decorated with a coastal theme. I loved all the beachy touches from the artwork, light fixtures, colors, furniture, etc. Everything was so elegant. We stayed in the Seawall Suite which is the largest room. It has a nice balcony as well. It was also decorated beautifully like the rest of the house. It was very cozy and comfortable. We chose to get married in the backyard near the gazebo. It was perfect. It was just my husband and I, Polly, Jeff and Heidi of course. Heidi actually walked me to the gazebo as if she was walking me "down the aisle." It was adorable! She's the Yorkie in the photos. Our ceremony was quick and intimate. Jeff did an excellent job and made us feel at ease as if we were just hanging out with friends. Not only is Polly an amazing decorator, she is also a very talented cook. She even made us a wedding cake! It was very pretty and so delicious!! I believe she said it was an Amaretto buttercream with strawberry filling. It was sooooooooo amazing!! In the morning, she made us an incredible homemade breakfast! It started off with yogurt parfaits and fresh granola. Yum! Then there were mini pumpkin pancakes, fresh potatoes, bacon and scrambled eggs. The bacon was so yum. It tasted like a maple-peppered bacon but I'm not sure what it was. All I know is it was awesome! Our wedding package was so reasonably-priced. We didn't have to do anything except pay and show up. Polly took care of the rest. We just can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was. Polly is so great at taking care of people. She and Jeff were both fantastic hosts. If you're ever in Galveston, I would highly recommend staying with them instead of at a hotel. You won't regret it!!

Polly hand crafts each of the breakfasts and pairs it with a coffee from a local roaster. Each of the meals starts with a fresh fruit dish that pops with flavor. Whether you are looking for tips on what to do in the area, looking for a quiet sabbatical, or somewhere to just get away for a weekend, Avenue O is a great place to relax and enjoy your stay. We'll be back for sure!

Pam, the owner, and her daughter, graciously moved us to a room at their other property, Virginia Point Inn. What a big blessing this turn of events became for us. The gardens around the house enhance the beauty of the home. The breakfasts are worth getting up for. Crispy bacon, fresh fruit, quiche, etc. plenty of coffee and juice. We highly recommend Virginia Point Inn as part of the Galveston experience. But beware, like me, you may not want to leave when it's time to go.
