It was the best days ever from the minute I walked in. Arturo, a front desk worker, welcomed me warmly which was when I knew that it was gonna be very comfortable stay for me and my family. He's is the best. Everyone in the hotel were super nice and the manager (Michelle) was always smiling and checked in on us a lot to see if we were comfortable there. Then I met Summer. She was really super super nice like Arturo. Everyone at the reception was really super nice and even for the house keeper are really nice. Selvia and Claudia was really nice. Even if I didn't need cleaning they always just checked in on us. Victor and his coworkers who did maintained for the room were very kind and checked in a lot. I really felt sad to leave the hotel. I felt like I was in my house because of everyone's kindness. I just wanna say thank you to the company for having great staff in Evanston location they are the best. No one would regret staying at The Hyatt house. Best of luck and wishes for everyone who work at the Hyatt house. Thank you Ashjan,

The lobby and adjacent areas were a bit busy with people waiting for rooms. And it was obvious the reception staff was under stress. Not even a "Good afternoon" put any type of civility expected from a Hilton brand. The receptionist just yelled to the crowd "No rooms until 4!!" Seemed to me that taking the frustration on the guests was probably not the best way to start the day.... We did get our rooms eventually. But that first impression lasted for our stay. We got to our rooms and they were modern, clean, and well appointed. Quite comfortable indeed. The dining facilities were excellent. Breakfasts were superb, with a great buffet and table service. The location of the hotel is superb, with convenient access to the University, mass transit, the restaurant corridor a block away, and parks and recreation. Other than a below par reception, which I can understand, it was a great and pleasant stay.

The hotel had been renovated since my last stay - my wife and I stay there every few years when we go to a conference in Chicago. I have family in the north Chicago suburbs, and the Orrington is centrally located. The room, small by modern luxury standards, was immaculate. And I'm picky. It had all the amenities we needed as well as being close to Lake Michigan for morning walks. The free internet had 200 Mbps downloads, but one of our four devices (two Windows and two iOS) couldn't log in. We dined at the hotel three times, twice for breakfast in the Land and Lake and once in the Evanston Corner Bistro for dinner. The Land and Lake had great food and service and competitive prices ($15 omelets). You can see the skeleton for the building and the support columns that dictate the wall placement and ultimately limit size of the rooms. The Corner Bistro has a very long bar and offered outdoor seating that was perfect for an August dinner. I can confidently recommend the duck special and glass of pinot noir. The beds slept well, room service came daily, and on Tuesday, there was a manager's wine and cheese tasting. I was impressed with the wines that were poured and the cheeses as well. I recall sparkling water, smoked cheddar, Comté and Manchego cheeses, with Pascal Jolivet Loire "Attitude" sauvignon blanc, a Davis-Bynum pinot noir, both very good, and a quotidian red. The sales manager, Kagan Greenfield, was pouring the wine, fielded our questions, and made our stay so much more pleasurable - is a great source of local advice. And finally, the Cubs won two of three from the White Sox in the crosstown series with their only defeat sadly on the day we went to Wrigley.
