We enjoyed our stay at House 5863 this past weekend. We were in town from Milwaukee for a quick…read morevisit to Chicago and this establishment met all of your needs. Checking in was a breeze. Check in times were clearly communicated and we were able to arrive on our schedule as all of the details we needed to gain entrance to the building and our room had been communicated to us prior to our arrival. The building itself is clean and cozy. Everything is on the 2nd floor. There is no elevator, but the stairs are wide and not at all hard to climb. If you do have trouble with stairs this might be something to consider, however. The 2nd floor has the guestrooms, a comfortable common area, and a kitchen area. We did not have time to hang out in the common area, but it looked like a nice space to relax: a comfy couch and some chairs, television, board games, writing desk. The kitchen was great. They have everything you need to cover the start of your day: cereal, oatmeal, pastries, coffee, juice, soda, fruit, and more. It's a help yourself kind of thing (you even load your own dishes in the dishwasher), but that makes it super convenient. You can just amble into the kitchen when you wake up and grab anything you want. This was a really nice feature. The room itself (we were in room 2) was clean and well appointed. It was not fancy, but it had everything we needed: bed, a place to hang up clothing and jackets, a television, a few chairs. The bed was comfortable. The room was a little warm and we could not figure out if we could adjust the heat, but adjusting the ceiling fan was all we eventually needed to make the room the right temperature. We had a private bathroom, but it was not attached to our room. We had to leave our room and cross the hallway. This was not a big deal for us, but something to think about if that kind of thing might make you uncomfortable. It looks like some of the rooms might contain a bathroom that is en suite, so if that is important to you maybe it is something you can request when you book your stay. The bathroom itself was clean. The shower was awesome, by the way. I really recommend staying here. It was comfy and cozy. The building itself was quiet. We could occasionally hear someone cough in another room, but it was not at all noisy. The neighborhood was also quiet. It's close to the L and within walking distance of some great restaurants and bars. We took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and walked quite a bit Saturday night. There is quite a bit of street parking, but I recommend grabbing a spot before it gets too late. We parked around 4:30 and did not have trouble finding a spot, but when we came back for the night there did not appear to be many (if any) open spots. I'd say get a spot early and then use something like Lyft or public transportation to get around the city. We would definitely come back the next time we're looking for a place to stay in the city. It more than covered our needs and we really enjoyed our stay.

And because I rented it out, sight-unseen, from New Mexico and rolled into town the day I was meant to rent it out, I was so impressed at how the business end was tailored to accommodate my situation (I couldn't pay, or even give a deposit to the owner, until the day I arrived - as a dozen girls had to mail me their share of the cost). We arranged the Friday thru Sunday stay for my sister's bachelorette party and it was an incredibly pleasant experience. All the girls thought the house was to die for... It is a no-joke mansion. I suppose if you live in a castle somewhere you might think it's the usual thing, but it was jaw-droppingly beautiful to us. We spent much of our first day and a half there running into each others rooms and shrieking "DID YOU SEE THIS/THAT?" Everyone who has seen the photos is amazed at the place, and my extended family is thinking of renting it out for next year's family reunion since it's super close to Wrigley, and that's kind of our thing. :) *** N - thank you so much for a lovely weekend and all of your help. You really made it even more fabulous than I could have imagined for my little sister!

KEEP IN MIND: They are LUXURY travel planners. They don't do "cheap". They can work within your…read morebudget but will try to do so comfortably and conveniently so you receive the best impression and services at your destination. FOR CONTEXT: We started planning our trip to Australia/New Zealand from LA in 2015. We spent about $9K for two people including several flights (internationally and 4 domestically), lodging, excursions, some food, and some souvenirs. Laura was our planner and she was great! We are so grateful to have found and gone with DUE for planning. At first, we were unsure of the value we were getting through going with them. We've seen friends plan their vacations through their own research and on a budget which made us second guess what we were doing. But during and after this trip we realized and appreciated the service provided. We know that we wouldn't have chosen some of the hotels or excursions we stayed/did based on individual price if we planned ourselves-- our Queenstown helicopter ride for example which we LOVED. Having land and airfare bundled together for 2 people didn't sound as "bad" and we felt like the price was worth was we got. I'm sure we were saved significant money, getting us the best value for our dollar, through their partnerships and discounts Third, they are the experts! We wouldn't have known what to REALLY do or how to order the trip, etc. It saved the stress of booking/confirming/logistics and allowed us to just enjoy traveling from place to place, checking in/out, and ensuring we were on time for our appointments. DUE made it EASY! Plus we were not stuck with the typical sightseeing, walking aimlessly, shopping.. we had experiences-- unique ones! Lastly, communication was great. Very responsive, especially to my changes and questions. Overall, we are very happy working with DUE and highly recommend them for any travel to their destinations. They also have partners that work in Asia/Africa. Like I said-- LUXURY travel so it's perfect for honeymooners, retirees, and any family willing to splurge a bit. NO CHEAP here.

And I have to fear that cockcroaches will come necause no matter how clean I am, th building's first floor is full of bugs and cockroaches. That I can see. On the walls. For your own mental health, do not move to 850 W Margate Terrace. It's also very humid and hot inside for no reason (which justifies why there are so many bugs). I'd say don't rent for him. He's incredibly disrispectful, does not care about the leasees needs, and might not actually take care of any issues you will encounter. I'm already regretting having signed the lease to this place and not reading yelp reviews beforehand.
