I stopped by looking for Bay-Leaves or seeds and met with Sally (the water goddess) who I absolutely ADORE and she helped me look just about everywhere! She was very knowledgeable and gave me some really nice tips on how to avoid gophers in my garden without one of my 3 indoor/outdoor cats massacring them which has been an issue a couple of times this week! Anyways, she was helpful and I saw some BEAUTIFUL plants and seeds I just know I would love to add that were way more than Bay-Leaves! Price wise it looked average to me but for great value because it was a lot of bang for your buck. The owner came by as I was leaving and was also SO nice! She explained to me that the specific plant I was looking for grows very slow and although she does have some sprouting trees to check back in with her and they should be good for me to pick up, I didn't get her name but she was lovely and very knowledgeable as well!! What a beautiful place I can't wait to come back the more the plants bloom so I can pick them up and put them in my own garden. Thank you ladies! read more

I love getting plants here. Many are grown locally by the owner, Mary, and the love, care and knowledge is apparent. Healthy and adjusted to our climate, plants do very well compared most of the other places you might pick up plants! Feels like you're in a garden, not a store. read more

I love returning here as the summer gets hotter and my garden calls for drought tolerant plants that thrive in this heat. I am especially pleased that everything is organic and sustainably grown. I appreciate the owner's extensive knowledge, too. It's like having your own field guide on native and garden plants, who fills you in on what's needed to have an enjoyable natural habitat to gaze upon. She has all the amenities, in addition to the plants, so they continue to look the way you bought them months down the road. read more

Wonderful selection of natives and other great plants! Every plant I've bought has been super healthy and I appreciate the compostable pots they are raised in. The gift area is also full of lovely items, soils, and fertilizers. The only negative is that the parking can get a bit crazy being right next to C & W Supply, but not sure that can be helped during the busy Spring and Summer seasons... just a heads-up! read more

Great selection of trees, bushes and shrubs that produce an edible yield. If you're into Permaculture, as my wife and I are, you will really enjoy their selection. Each plant also has a really nice writeup to describe its uses and care -- very useful, don't forget to take a photo for any plant you buy! read more

I buy native and drought-tolerant plants from them at the Sonora Farmer's Market every year. Plants are always beautiful and healthy. Very friendly people who are knowledgable and helpful, ready to answer your questions and recommend plants for your specific needs. I haven't bought from them online, so I can't speak for that. I will keep visiting their booth & buy when I can! read more

Mary and John, owners of The Garden Company, have given us a beautiful new front yard. Mary worked with us to create the garden design and suggested plants that would enhance the design but would also be drought-tolerant and California native. John installed the drip system, hardscape, and assisted Mary in the planting. We are amazed with the transformation of a dead, weed-filled space to a front yard of wandering paths, beautiful plants that are attracting bees, birds, and butterflies, and something that brings joy to us every day. read more

Loved the nursery, the plants. I browsed for 15 minutes before being asked if I needed help. I explained what I needed and he referred me to Mary. Mary said she would be right with me. She finished with a customer then fussed around inside the store. Another customer came in and yelled a question from the entrance. She helped him and didn't acknowledge me. I browsed for another half an hour waiting for her to finish with the other customer. She did....then fussed inside the store again. I decided to leave after 40 minutes of being ignored. As I was getting in my car she walked by me and didn't say a word. No...can I help, did you find what you needed, thanks for coming? ...nothing. Terrible customer service. I was very disappointed in the Garden Company. They had nice plants but I doubt I'll go back. I'm new to the area and found Solomon's garden and nursery. Those folks met me at my car and toured the entire garden with me answering all my questions; a better choice for sure. read more

I bought some plants at the Sonora Farmers Market this past spring. They are doing great! I got the Lavender and Cleavland sage and some of the Hens and Chicks succulents. I had my eye on some other plants but Mary the owner had suggested that these choices would be better for my conditions, boy was she right! I was sad to see they were not there last week but I heard that they are coming back on the 29th. Yeah! Can't wait to get more stuff for the fall. read more
