Not sure why this place has negative reviews but my family and I had a great experience! We stumbled upon this quaint restaurant/pub after walking around the Pimlico area, and were delighted to find they had a BOGO deal on their Bangers and Mash. The dish was very flavorful and filling, and the gravy was very tasty! It was also a plus for us as this deal made it one of our most affordable meals in London. We washed our dinner down with an ice cold Guinness and local beer with both of them being very refreshing! The staff was very friendly, and we'd definitely recommend to our friends! read more

This place was right down the way from the place we were staying at and my sister, who is a bartender, said we couldn't come to the UK without going down to the pub and havin a pint. So, as a matter of convenience we went to the closest one. It's diagonally right across the street from the Pimlico tube station. I really didn't have high expectations for the food there and we were really just getting small eats as we had been on the train all day and just needed something in our stomachs. There weren't that many people in there when we got there in the evening. We sat in the back and the pub itself has a lounge feel with a overtone of English classic history. I guess have a beer and still be a little classy while doing so. There is outside seating as well in the case you want to socialize outside. I ended up just getting fries as none of the other items on the menu looked that appetizing. The fries were flaccid but at least they were warm. I ordered just a general light ale and my sister got a classic pint. The pint my sister got was terrible but the ale was nice. I'm not sure if the pint is supposed to taste exactly like water but that's what it tasted like. I guess that's how people get smashed because it's so watery that you don't notice how many you're drinking until it's too late. I give the place stars for that English look that we all see on TV or in films and the general relaxed feel of the place, but otherwise it's a pass. read more

Our first night in London, my friends and I decided to go to a near by pub from our Hotel. We ended up at the Gallery! Walking in, the guy looked at me and didn't ask for how many people, my friend and I had to go up to him and ask for a table of 6. He then told us we can sit anywhere and that we just have to go to the bar and order beer and food. It was almost late, so he warned us that they were out on a lot of things in the menu because they had a busy day. I went up to him at the bar and asked for a recommendation of beer and told him what I liked - he seemed to be annoyed and not wanted to help. I just ordered what everyone else ordered plus some food. One food item we got was fish and chips, boy was it the worst Ive had! Not only was it greasy but it had bones!! One star for the rest of the items we ordered being okay. If you're looking for a nice, friendly pub with fish and chips with no bones, DO NOT go here! read more

The place is really nice and cozy. Exactly how I expected London to be! My friend warned me that they're not big on service in London, but I thought the guy who took our order was pretty friendly. You seat yourself and order up at the bar. When he brought the toast, it was a little burnt and he brought another set just in case we didn't like it. We didn't even have to say anything! I had the light breakfast which consisted of eggs, sausage, bacon (different from the US) and half a tomato. This was just enough to fill me up. I wish it came with hash brown too, though! My friend had it and gave me hers. It was delicious! My first time trying hash brown in London! We had a lot of questions about alcohol for the bartender and he was very helpful. Stopped in with the family and the bartenders were lovely and the beer I started with was very good, however the older woman roaming around with her dog in her arms was not friendly accusing my daughter of underaged drinking. My rum and coke was flat to begin with... and if my daughter who is 16 tasted it, then let's not make a fuss. A taste in a bar does not constitute a major offense in a America or London . With that said London is wonderful but I think this old woman, guessing the owner, in this case was a bit too aggressive. Pimlico is a lovely remote area and I think some of the local business owners aren't so quick to warm up to Americans as is the case here so you can skip this pub as there are many other cleaner options. That woman should clean up the joint too with broken arcade games, empty boxes all over the place and empty condiment jars littering her establishment. This is the closest pub to the Pimlico station. My buddy lives around the corner and I need a beer and an ear to talk to. Trying to be accommodating I met him on his turf at The Gallery. What is special about this pub as apposed to the others in the area or anywhere else? Nothing. They do have a good amount of seats and booths, beer, booze, crisps and a kitchen that serves food. The Gallery is a pleasant enough pub. A good range of ales (I spotted at least four, mostly from Thwaites), some decent offers (4 pints of ale in a jug for £14) and quick service. Punters when I was there comprised a broad mix of white & blue collar workers and sporty-types (indoor football and netball) kicking back with a pint after using the nearby facilities. Though at the shabbier end of Pimlico, the Gallery isn't that bad a pub for the area and a sign that things are on the up around here. Definitely recommended for a dependable if slightly plain place to drop by for a well-kept pint. read more

Been here a few times, and I really liked it. Their food is surprisingly solid -- the sausage with mashed potatoes was mouth-watering. Another time, I ordered chicken wings, and they were good. A reasonable range of beers as well. Service in my experience was good. Mind you, it's a pub, so not much interaction with the servers in general, but they were overall kind. I lived next door to this pub for little under a year, but never really went there as a regular... It gets better when the weather is good as you can sit outside and enjoy your drink, but that's perhaps 2 months per year - which is indeed very little. And still in this period it would only deserve 2 stars - not 3... The interior is as lame as it gets, even if it serves the purpose - it's warm and you can get a drink. It's very old and they clearly rely on their usual customers instead of investing in renovating the place and giving it a new look. It would surely be beneficial for them to become more popular in an area with so many yuppies that walk past it on a regular basis... The people who seem to be regulars are local senior people who don't really give it much cheer. I'm not giving it 1 star solely out of sympathy. read more

Met up here the other day for a catch up with some friends, good atmosphere with a decent range of beers available, also had the England match on the tv. Prices under £5 a pint as well which is always a bonus when out in London. Didn't get chance to try any food but would go back another time. read more

The Gallery is an OK pub. It's right outside the Pimlico tube station, so it's at a great location if you want to stop for a beer before or after your tube journey. They have a nice selection of beer and liquor. I've eaten the food here twice and I was not impressed either time. The food wasn't horrible, but it wasn't anything to write home about. The most recent time I ordered the pasta and chicken off their £6 lunch menu and it was lacking some serious seasoning. Don't think I'll eat here in the future, but it's a chill place to have a few beers at. read more

Served its purpose. I wanted a chill place to have a pint or two and read my book. The draft cider was good. The bartenders were kind. The crowd ran the gamut from older tourists (I think?) to young people straight off of work. And Prince's When Doves Cry came on the speakers, which was a nice bonus. I came here out of convenience as it is just a short walk from my hotel and I wanted to visit a pub for lunch. I noticed the sign in the window saying 6.75 pounds for cod and chips which brought me in. When ordering, I pointed to the sign and said "I saw the cod and chips on the window outside but I don't see it on your menu". He then pulled out a different menu (3 different menus?) and pointed out the cod and chips. This menu said 13 pounds but I'm not one to argue so I just paid it (13 pounds for fish and chips is overpriced regardless). The food came surprisingly quickly. The fried fish wasn't great and fell apart but I continued eating it as I just thought I wasn't used to British food. I was about halfway through the fish when I took a bite and couldn't chew through it. It was slimey and like rubber. I spat it out and was appalled. When I took a closer look at the inside of the fish, it was barely cooked throughout! I stopped eating and because of the waiters with an attitude problem, I left without saying anything.
