I believe that the "sometimes" was added because it used to be strictly classical music performances but has since become more varied. They do still have the bagels! A converted chicken coop serves as a working potters studio and gallery with bowls, plates, mugs and various flower vessels available for sale. I purchased two unique glazed mugs for $28. The painters gallery featured abstracts, scenic water colors and acrylics in a variety of sizes. Our tour guide shared that many pieces of artwork are available for sale on their web site and custom pieces are also an option. We explored the flower gardens and enjoyed the park like setting around the "coop" and main gallery. Our visit was intentional as a stop on the Nebraska Passport Program and we enjoyed our brief encounter. If in the northeast area of Nebraska near the communities of Macy or Wayne, stop by and enjoy the views...both in the gallery and in the garden.

This labor of love (literally a dedicated museum to her late husband, George) and clad in Georgia Pink marble, was an absolute showstopper! The museum is huge and driving in, I didn't think I would be here for HOURS. I cannot explain the grandeur of walking in, seeing the high windows, the marble - an architectural beauty. The front desk let us know where all the exhibits were but made a point to tell me about a kid's area downstairs. We figured we would stop by their first and assumed it was going to be a wood table with crayons - MAN, it was NOT. It was this bright lime green room with books, toys.... light cubes you could piece together, vases to draw on to replicate Classic Roman or Greco imagery, a stop-motion area, digital canva to draw on the wall or the floor! It was so interactive! My husband let me slink away to see the ret of the museum - the contemporary section was nice and had enough pieces that it didn't seem like as last throw away section. The rest of the exhibits were smaller, but still intentional - 20th century art, the romantism era, indigenous art, some still life, and a small area for pottery. This will always be on my must see for Omaha - oh, and its FREE!

But hey, what's life without a little creative chaos? Upon arriving at the studio, we were warmly greeted, quickly checked in, and given the option to explore or grab a drink at the bar. The previous session had run a little over time, so the staff was hustling to reset the studio for the next round of soon-to-be Picassos. I appreciated the extra effort--they had each station prepped with paint, brushes, and palettes, making it easy for us to dive right in. Of course, we opted for a drink first. A beer and a glass of wine set us back a very reasonable $10. Not bad at all! With drinks in hand, we wandered around, admiring the finished pieces from previous sessions while soaking in the lively atmosphere. The music selection--a fantastic mix of '80s hits and yacht rock--set the perfect mood. Rachel, our instructor for the evening, took the stage, and I have to give a shoutout to the setup. Large monitors on either side of the room displayed her demonstrations, making it easy to follow along. She guided us step by step--what brush to use, how to mix the perfect shade--but for someone with zero artistic ability (me), keeping up was a challenge. More than once, I found myself a step (or three) behind. Thankfully, Rachel was a rockstar--always there to encourage, assist, and even mix paints when needed. Midway through, we took a much-needed 15-minute break, which was a nice touch. Whether you needed time to let your masterpiece dry or just catch up, it was a welcome pause. Unfortunately, there was a small medical incident during the break, but the staff handled it with care and professionalism. Luckily, everything turned out fine, but it was comforting to see how attentive they were to their guests. By the end of the night, we had our very own (questionable) works of art to take home. Are they Louvre-worthy? Absolutely not. But the memories we made? Priceless. Would we do it again? In a heartbeat. A great vibe, great drinks, and an even better experience. Highly recommend--for date night or fun with friends!
