She pointed us towards Matilde, a little store just off of the main street, we knew we had to stop in. When we walked in it felt like we were transported to a quaint flower shop in Europe. All of the flowers are in beautiful condition and they have a really cool variety full of unique varaites and colors that allows you to tap into your creative side. While the flowers are the MAIN event, they also have a few other unique and beautiful products including candles, books, and pottery. This is such a fun store to explore and will definitely be visiting again to curate a beautiful bouquet for my next dinner party!

"It's 9 o clock on a Saturday, the regular crowd shuffles in ..." And though it hasn't been open…read morethat long, it did seem as though there already were regulars, as well as newbies filling up Holy Grounds -- as well as the parking lot and surrounding streets this past Saturday morning. What went well? Delicious latte and cinnamon roulade. Im not a big fan of cinnamon, and the roulade had the perfect light touch -- both with the cinnamon and in the flaky pastry. Staff is friendly, and orders are filled quickly. Everything is really clean and fresh, and the outdoor space during the waning days of summer and impending autumn is quite inviting. What might not be so nice? This Place is quite large ... but does not have sufficient parking for the weekend surge, nor does it have much room for turning around once you've unfortunately committed to that already full lot. Park on the street to avoid the hassle. Enter the shop and you're smack in the middle of the line to order. It's a little disconcerting as folks in line want to leave the doorway space clear for entrance and exit, but then folks coming in arent sure where to go to actually get in line. Maybe a velvet rope and arrow to direct traffic? Again, this place is quite large -- with very high ceilings. That means it's LOUD, not exactly a cozy coffee vibe. I thought I'd heard they do Bible studies here during the week. That sounded lovely, until I found myself leaning over the counter each time the barista asked me a question because I had no clue what she was saying. How would that study work when you are constantly raising your voice to be heard? Finally, though my roulade was delish, as was my friend's (ugh) pumpkin spice latte, her iced pumpkin bread left much to be desired. The icing was cracked and falling off and the center of the slice still was cold, suggesting "fresh" from the freezer, despite having been warmed behind the counter. I bet this turns into quite the gathering place. I'd visit again, but on a nice day when I can sit outside. Sorry, no pics this time!

The owner also came around to check on customers and was incredibly pleasant and friendly, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, there were a few things involving the staff that caught us off guard. While preparing our order, one employee was eating ice cream behind the counter while making customers' desserts. We also observed her repeatedly running her fingers through her hair and then using her hands to crumble a brownie into our ice cream without washing her hands. She also displayed rude and uncalled for behavior with a group of teenage boys that came in before us. It wasn't something we expected to see and it definitely made us uncomfortable. The ice cream itself was good, and the overall concept of the shop is great, but the food handling practices we witnessed took away from the experience. With a little more attention to cleanliness and professionalism from the staff, this could easily be a much higher-rated visit. We wanted to share our honest experience because there are a lot of positive things about this place, but some of the small details regarding food preparation were hard to overlook.

I ended up at Brew Moon somewhat by chance today because I was specifically looking for a good…read moreherbal tea, and seeing "tea" in the name made me think my chances were pretty good. I'm so glad I stopped in! The thing that stood out most was the service. This is a family-owned and operated business, and you can genuinely feel that when you're there. The sisters working were teasing each other and having fun, and you could just tell they're close. Both employees I interacted with were incredibly sweet, friendly, and helpful, and I noticed they treated every other customer with that same warmth. There's just a different feeling to a place like this. It feels personal and welcoming in a way that really sets it apart. I was also SO happy to see how many caffeine-free tea options they had. The woman helping me asked what kinds of flavors I liked, and after I gave her a few ideas, she steered me toward a tea that ended up being exactly what I was looking for. Then they did something I've honestly never experienced before, despite having had countless cups of tea at coffee and tea shops over the years. They gave me my teabag back to take home and reuse! It came in an adorable little cup with the name of the tea and steeping instructions written on the outside. They explained that their teas are high quality and flavorful enough that you can usually get two, if not three, brews out of them, so why throw the tea away after one? Such a small thing, but I loved it. It felt thoughtful, generous, and mindful of waste all at once. The shop itself isn't huge, but they've made really nice use of the space. The front has a gift-shop area with a variety of new age type items for sale, then you order your drink at the counter farther in. Off to the side are several small tables, plus a separate little room with a few armchairs. You can leave the door open and have it feel semi-private, or close it if you want a little more privacy. My only small note is that when I first walked in, the scent of what I assume was incense was pretty strong. I'm not much of an incense person, so it was a little overwhelming at first. If there were a way to make the scent a bit more subtle, I think it would make the space even more comfortable for people who aren't used to it. That said, after about 15 minutes sipping my tea, I didn't notice it anymore. Overall, this was such a pleasant surprise. I went in simply hoping to find a caffeine-free herbal tea I'd enjoy and ended up finding a warm, welcoming family-run shop with wonderful service and people who clearly care about what they're serving and the customers who walk through the door. I'll absolutely be back!
