Lord are those photos of this place old. Richland Town Centre replaced the Richland Mall. Once the…read moreGalleria opened up and a majority of the stores vacated for the new and shiny, Richland Mall was doomed. After the mall shuttered, it sat there for a bit before everything on the property had left. Once tore down, the shopping center sprung up. Home to national chain big box stores, it brought business back to this area. Some stores have been retained since the beginning. Others have either went bankrupt and closed or just switched up their names a bit, or downsized their store footprint. Doesn't matter either way, this center, or plaza, has remained busy. What is funny now, the stores that had vacated for the Gallery have started to come back to the old Richland Mall land. Several of the mall stores have now vacated the Galleria for their full circle moment return to this parcel. This place can be busy and you will need to keep your wits about you when you are trying to make your way from store to store. Think strip mall on steroids. Multiple entrances and exits. They seem to be in the midst of revamping some area and possibly adding my store in the surrounding area.

Parking right in front of each store is a breeze and I love in and out shopping when the need calls for it. I also love the fact that a Five Guys Burger and Fries is amongst this collection of shops. The centre caters to the needs of the local Johnstown folks with stores like Ross, Payless, Bed Bath and Beyond, Famous Footware, TJ Maxx, the Dress Barn, Petco, Dollar Tree ( still have no clue how they make money), Michael's, Fashion Bug and so much more. The Galleria put the Richland Mall out of business and now the Richland Town Centre is just taking some back. One back road will lead you to and from both the mall and the centre, which makes for a sweet shopping and dining out day.

It had fought off a lot of what was effecting malls at the time. But that seems to be catching up to LVM. See all that LVM had staved off but as of recent it is not immune to it all. They lost Sears as an anchor, which was no surprise as they are all out of everywhere you go. They have also, as of recent, lost the movie theater, which that means two anchor spots are now gone in this once thriving mall. That is not fairing well with the rest of the mall. Stores have been vacating for a while and there are not many businesses clamoring to fill those vacated spots. As of recent there are stores that are vacating for freestanding buildings or strip malls that are just outside the mall properties. Like Johnstown, what LVM has effected is now coming back to effect the mall. The movie theater across the street closed up shop and now the theater in the mall closed up shop due to a newer theater opening elsewhere. Where that movie theater once was located across the street now is owner of buildings that house businesses once in the mall. It's like going full circle or something. There are corridors in the mall that just feel dead because on one side of the mall there is not a single storefront open, and on the other it is totally occupied by one business. The food court feels empty and on its way to housing one eatery like Johnstown. I hope that Altoona is able to pull in some newer stores soon, or it will end up like Johnstown. The mall in Johnstown is on its last leg, and on the verge of being a dead mall.

Overall, I think that this mall looks nice and is in good condition. I like some of the restaurants, but I do not do much shopping in the stores. Furthermore, the parking lot is sort of small, so I sometimes have to wait a short time to find a parking spot.

Honestly, from the outside, this looks more like a strip mall than a 'Mall'. We walked in the…read moreetrance marked Dubois Mall between Big Lots and Ross and sure enough, it's a 'Mall'. Besides anchor stores Ross and Big Lots, there is a large J.C.Penney. The interior public areas are quite wide, with high ceilings. An average sized Bath & Body works and GNC are located in this section of the mall while many of the other businesses are smaller 'mom and pop' type businesses including a kitchen store, a craft store, a remodeling business and HW Book Peddlers to name a few. Wandering down toward J.C. Penney, there is a wide, bare hallway that looks like a dead end. Being of a curious nature, I wandered down there to find another section of the mall. Not as big, it runs parallel to the other section and J.C. Penney is also accessible from here. The mall office is located off this corridor and in front of this was a display of moving dinosaurs! That was a fun surprise. This section includes DuBois Cafe, Uzi's Pastries, two recruiters, Claire's and a nail salon plus more. Like many malls in America, this one is hanging on; not the haven it was in the 80's or 90's. The anchor stores are definitely worth stopping in to visit, and there are several discount stores of one type or another scattered throughout worth a look. That McNulty's looks like a childs heaven with all the stuffed animals! One area is set aside with arcade games. A few other game machines are scattered throughout the mall as well as several soda machines. Empty shop windows have been painted with cartoon characters which is festive. The wide hall ways make a nice space to stretch your legs on a cold, rainy day. There is lots of parking and a fair number of mall entrances. You can easily spend an afternoon window shopping. Who knows you may, like us, find a couple of items to buy. Then stop by the cafe for a snack or meal and walk off the calories or sit on a bench and do a bit of people watching. There are also several other businesses that share the parking lot including a restaurant and a movie theater. I understand the beginning of the Beaver Meadow Trail starts somewhere near the Mall. I'll have to go find that. When it stops raining.

This indoor mall has two floors and over 150 stores. The anchor stores are Nordstrom, Macy's, JCPenney, and Dick's Sporting Goods. Luxury/designer stores include Burberry, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany and Co., Kate Spade, and Tory Burch. The mall also has many lower-priced clothing stores, including American Eagle, Banana Republic, Buckle, Chico's, Express, GAP, H&M, Hollister, J.Crew, J.Jill, Levi's, LOFT, Madewell, PacSun, Victoria's Secret, White House Black Market, and Zumiez. Unfortunately, a few of my favorite clothing stores have closed since my previous review. Several other stores sell shoes and accessories, such as Coach, Foot Locker, Kay Jewelers, Lens Crafters, Pandora, Sunglass Hut, Swarovski, Tumi, VisionWorks, and Warby Parker. The mall also has electronics stores such as Apple and phone stores. Stores for home goods include Crate and Barrel, RH (formerly Restoration Hardware), Tempur-Pedic, and Williams-Sonoma. Current restaurants are Auntie Anne's, Cheesecake Factory, Plaza Azteca, Nordstrom Ruscello, several casual restaurants in the food court, etcetera. Unlike many other indoor malls, Ross Park Mall is not dead. Most store fronts are occupied, and only a few store fronts are empty and awaiting future retailers.
