We spent a lovely 3 nights at the Gables Bed and Breakfast in Matlock, in the Peak District. It is in a separate wing in the owners' house, a lovely home with nice views over Matlock since it is on a hill above town. The rooms were very attractive, one was very large the other smaller. Bathrooms were attractive and facilities nice, although shower water pressure was a bit low. Otherwise, the rooms were very comfortable and nicely furnished. Everything was very clean. A nice living area with big windows was available for use. Breakfast was excellent, freshly made and we had a wonderfull cooked breakfast/Full English every day. It was excellent and plentiful. The owners were very nice and friendly.
The onyl drawback was that it required driving on steep, narrow, twisting lanes up and down the hill. For us, that was a minor issue but it could be a problem for some. It also means that one cannot easily walk to anything in town from the bed and breakfast. read more
