This is a relatively new addition in a former office block on St Philip's Square (front rooms get a…read moreview of the Cathedral). Location wise, it's around five minutes from New St or Snow Hill stations and very central. It's as close as you get to a leafy spot in central Birmingham. The reception is stripped down, with self check-in and an assistant to help. Breakfast and dinner are provided in the adjacent Beefeater (named "Bar & Block"). The rooms are pretty standard, but quite well soundproofed, and I didn't suffer from external noise or that from other rooms. Free wifi was perfectly adequate for email and messaging. The beds are very comfortable, though neither the 'soft' or standard 'hard' pillows quite do it for me. The problem for sleeping, however, was the noise of the heating/cooling unit fan - an irritating whine which meant I had to turn it off to go to sleep and then awoke at 4am too warm. There was also a peculiar, intermittent watery noise, which I presume was someone flushing or washing elsewhere in the building, though it may have been the air-conditioning. Breakfast was ok, a fairly standard buffet, though Europeans would bemoan the lack of cheese and cold meats. I returned from getting a second cup of coffee to find the waitress clearing away the toast I had just buttered, although she apologised and offered to get me another. So, ok for the price (£118 including breakfast on a weeknight) but not outstanding value given the imperfect sleep.

The website is clear, comprehensive and it's easy to compare several nearby hotels to choose the most suitable one. My family and I stayed at this Premier Inn in Birmingham city centre earlier this year to attend the All England Badminton finals at the National Indoor Arena. The hotel is perfectly located in the city centre, close to all the shops and restaurants but only 20 minute walk along a pedestrianised route from the NIA. There is some metered parking outside the hotel but for longer term parking, it's best to use one of the many public car parks nearby. We used the Brunel Street car park which is a 5 minute walk away and cost around £8 for 24 hours on a Sunday. Check in is a funny affair with self service machines to enter your details but with very eager staff hovering to help. This hotel is very well staffed with helpful people and I'm not really sure why they don't just use a traditional check in system. The rooms were big and like other Premier Inns I've stayed at, quite modern and updated. There was a problem with the shower door in one of the rooms but we were given a new room immediately. The beds were comfortable. There was a nice looking on-site restaurant but we chose to eat out. This hotel satisfied both the CTG (Chinese Thrift Gene) and the CQG (Chinese Quality Gene)!

If you have never stayed at a Travelodge, they are usually room only hotels. The rooms are clean and tidy and in good order. They come with cean towels and tea/coffee making facilities. Each room has a standard terrestial TV. Wifi access is available at an extra charge. Most rooms have a double bed and there is a pull out single bed for a child. Although there is no restaurant in the Travelodge, there are two restaurants in the service area: Burger King and and EDC (Eat & Drink Co.) As you would expect in service area, these can be expensive places to eat. Overall it provides a good base to explore the East Midlands, South Yorkshire and the surrounding area

The place was easy to find and was great they have parking included. (Note need to know your reg number at check in). We arrived at 5pm which was a busy time but once we were served check in process was quick. We stayed in a twin Superior room. First impressions were WOW. All the little details such as power points next to the bed (amazing how this is missing from a lot of hotels) that include USB point. Bed were very comfortable. Great shower fittings though found the water temperature hard to control. They have a comfy lounge/bar area and a lovely restaurant. We dined in the restaurant Sourced for dinner and choose their 3 course menu. Food was delicious and presented well. Thought the serves was a bit lacking and felt the staff were very new. Breakfast was a little chaotic with the buffet in a small corner that was really poky when the restaurant was full. Toaster was broken burning toast really quickly making the whole restaurant smell and fill up with smoke. Not a nice atmosphere. High recommend New Bath Hotel if staying in the Peak District area.

The pictures were ok and the price was too so I decided to stay here. I was booked into one of their suites and wasn't let down at all. The room was really spacious, with a really nice, large bed, a large living area and nice en suite bathroom. Small touches like a nespresso machine and complimentary soft drinks were in the room. The room was in really good condition, very clean, light and had really nice decor. (see the pictures) The staff were also really friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back and stay here. The location in the middle of town is ideal! Great hotel, great city!

I had mentioned my husband's birthday to the staff as I asked them to have a bottle of wine waiting for us upon arrival, which they were more than happy to accommodate, and they also wrote him a little card along with some complimentary shortbread cakes and vouchers for two free drinks at the hotel bar. Such attention to detail and going out of their way to make our stay a good one was incredible, especially as we were only there for one night. I paid extra and went for a large executive room (shown in the photos I uploaded Room 201) at first glance it didn't look like you got a whole lot extra, but there is more space in the room, the bed is HUGE and one of the most comfortable night's sleeps I have ever had, and the shower was powerful and big enough for two ;) Despite being in the city centre, the noise level was minimal and the staff were friendly and helpful no matter what time of day, night or early morning we spoke to them! Breakfast was of good quality and had a lot of variety to choose from delicious all round. Would recommend and if I venture Nottingham way again, I will definitely be staying here!

The breakfast room had a lovely view of the turn in the canal. You can easily walk into Nottingham centre along the canal too, where you can get to the cool bars that are on the canal. If you go along canal the opposite way you will meet the Trent river and have a smashing view of Notts Forests City grounds. It's a nice walk too, during which we saw a family of Canada Geese. I guess it'd be a pretty handy hotel for the of Notts Forests games, as well as any of the cricket games at Trent Bridge.

Last friday we went to the Derwent hotel after a walk along the canal from Cromford, although they…read moreopened a little , late they were very polite, and showed lots of couesy, the food was excellent and the menue was very broad based, we ate outside on the very clean patio and meals were good quality, and the service was excellent too, overall we were very pleased not expensive either, Today a week later on we went again and the same goes for that visit exactly, My wife and I are not easily pleased sometimes but we cannot criticise the management ,food or service at all, Why those nerds posted such negative reviews I cannot faqthom at all, must just be maliscious for some reason, Go visit and try it. you won;t be dissapointed,
