There was a bit of a line when we stopped in, but everything moved quickly and the employees were very friendly. I ordered the chicken Tokyo bowl and this was may have been one of my favorite meals during my trip. The chicken was well seasoned and the variety of vegetables all added a nice bite (particularly the pickled cucumbers, broccoli salad, and chilis). They're heavy-handed with the sauce and furikake seasoning, which was nice, but it did end up being a little salty. The servings are large and could definitely make two meals!

We were running out of time on our hunt to find them when I realized, 'I've got my trusty guidebook!!' And that's how we ended up here. It was 12 Euros for 6 oysters and a glass of wine. Since there were four of us, the lady was nice enough to give us 4 cups of wine (yes, plastic cups - it's a farmer's market, what do you expect!) They even threw in an extra oyster! SO FRESH! SO BIG! (cue that's-what-she-said joke). Compared to NYC oysters, these babies looked like they were on steroids! They also have this dipping sauce (had onions and was really vinegar-y, but good. But if you don't like the sour, you should just take the oyster straight.) Didn't eat anything else from other stands because we just had lunch. However, I believe they had shish kebabs, crepes, and bread. Oh and FYI - Sheridans Cheesemongers was there (saw this place on Anthony Bourdain when he went to Dublin so thought this might be worth mentioning). Definitely check out this farmer's market!

In the same vein as my other beloved Dublin food hall, Fallon & Byrne, Listons has a wide selection of charcuterie, cheese, nuts, pastas, tea, chocolates and wine. I chose a tomato basil soup and a tuna, cheddar and sundried tomato panini for lunch and ate it picnic style back in my hotel room. The sandwich was absolutely glorious. The soup, while not incredible, was proficient. The staff at Listons also deserves a mention - they're super sweet!

I was at the blues stage were seeing an old woman being over taken by power walking younger folks whilst they listened to their i-pods lost in themselves and their outward image made me really sad. It actually brought a frog to my throat & made me slightly teary - yes it did. I started thinking about how impersonal people these days can be; yup I was in a rut. Because I have no friends I could not dial for a hug, and because hugging yourself is a rather futile action I decided to lift my melancholy with some tea. I got some mint infused tea, to give me more of a spring in my step. And to really treat myself I got the orange and coconut combination which is as delicious as it sounds. The layout of Listons makes me happy, it's warm and the staff are helpful & when you are feeling under the weather you can never ever underestimate the power of a stranger's smile.

It's call Lilliput for two reasons, one as a homage to Lilliput press that is in the area and the other reason because for such a tiny shop, it really squeezes a lot in. It has a range of regular and artisan products. Cheeses from around the country, artisan breads, olives from Morocco, lots of wines and delicious sandwiches to go. A coffee will set you back the princely sum of €1.50. There are seats built into the shop front so you can relax and enjoy the atmosphere. The girl I was chatting with was a pure doll, she recommended a few local events to me, I really appreciate when people know the community they work in and are welcoming like they are here.

There is a lovely touch at the front door, a local has print-outs of recipes and the seasonal veg/fruit that go with it. I was absolutely astonish by the price of the avocados at 0.99 cent each, this is the best price for the quality you will get, I can guarantee that the same avocado costs up to €1.60 to €1.70 which is an awful lot of a difference, and like this example I could give you many more. Nicky (the owner) appeared to talk to me and explain a bit about the shop and the offers he has and he kindly let me take a photo of the shop. This kind of shops you won't find them anymore and they are such a treat for the area and the locals. There you will select fresh fruit and vegetables with the help of nice people behind the counter who will give you a smile and good service, not like a big super market where you will be wondering about and finding out where to weight your items. We (we all do) are responsible for letting go small places like this instead of supporting the small companies which have a lot more to offer than the big monsters who won't even care what they are selling to you or what kind of food you cook and eat. Spoke to one of the fellas who informed me its been running for over 25 years, and was in its day the first organic market in Dublin. In terms of quality, all on offer seemed phenomenal and what I got (some veg, organic dried stuffs, coffee and a jug o' raw milk from the butcher/milkman) was, at least, impeccable. In terms of "ambiance" a guy on a stage at the back of the room was playing music (folklore?) and families and strollers and the rest of what seemed like a jovial community was circulating inbetween the stalls, snacking and browsing. Great experience and, I think, I am a jovial regular to-be.
