If you value your home and your hard-earned money, do not hire James or Freedom Builders.
We paid this company over $54,000 to build a garage foundation and a new home entryway. What we got in return was massive property damage, structural incompetence, and outright deception.
Here is exactly what James and Freedom Builders did to our home:
* Severe Structural Deviations: James completely ignored the engineer's architectural plans. He poured footings that were shockingly smaller than required--measuring just 399 sq. ft. instead of the mandated 574 sq. ft. That is a 46% reduction in space from what we paid for.
* Deception and Cover-Ups: Instead of communicating the mistake, James actively tried to hide it. He surrounded the undersized foundation with pallets of blocks so that no one could access the area or see the butchered dimensions. He knew exactly what he did and tried to get away with it.
* Extensive Property Damage: They tore up our home, left our deck completely in pieces, and disconnected our stormwater system. To make matters worse, their structural negligence caused water to filter directly into our basement--which had previously been fully waterproofed.
* Zero Professionalism: When we confronted James about the clear deviations, he met us with intense defensiveness and a total inability to comprehend basic engineering plans. Even his own crew members were overheard speaking in Spanish about how terrible of a job their subcontractors were doing. They didn't realize we understood every word.
The Ultimate Red Flag: On September 11th, James took our final payment check of $14,300 and completely walked away from the job with absolutely no explanation, leaving us with thousands of dollars in property damage.
James gaslit us and tried to tell us our eyes were deceiving us. Well, James--measurements don't lie. You stole our money and left our home in ruins. "Freedom Builders" indeed--they take the freedom to take your money and run.
