This is a very picturesque place with a very large front grassy yard full of happy people enjoying a nice Summer afternoon and evening. Being one of the Wetherspoons locations, The Fox on the Hill is super pretty and has a lot of seating options both inside and outside. Lots of nooks and crannies around as well. There are plenty of food and drink options and all at pretty decent prices. This location reminds me of the McMenamins chain of restaurants, hotels, bars, etc. in the Oregon and Washington state areas in the USA. We ordered several pitchers of the Woo Hoo or Woo Woo (?) which is a cranberry based cocktail concoction. Very tasty. We also ordered a slew of apps to share which included fries, curry fries, chicken tenders, onion rings, nachos, margherita pizza, garlic bread and Halloumi fries. Most of these were pretty good with the pizza coming in last in regards to taste and appearance. I love the Wetherspoons concepts and their drink specials and unique locations. Alright let's star out with the basics. We seated ourselves and you need to order up at the bar. REMEMBER YOUR TABLE NUMBER. You're going to need to give it to the bartender who takes your orders. So when you're ready to order make your way up to the bar and place your order as well as your drinks. Your drinks will come out immediately and you can bring them to your table. NOW WAIT. It took about 8 minutes to get 3 dishes out. Fish and chips, steak, and a vegetable burger. All were fantastic by the way. The food is very affordable so it's a great time with friends. Now when you're done you can just leave when you're ready because you already paid at the counter! I'm not sure why this has low reviews. The place is very affordable and the food is pretty good for your money. I recommend going here with some friends to have a drink, food, and a good time! read more

I love this pub, especially the Friday night fish and chip and beer drink. My other favourite meal there is the mixed grill, especially the lamb chop. Getting to the pub before 6:00 pm is a better likelihood of getting the best quality of food. The service is fast and the servers are friendly. Walking to the bar to order means your beverage is given to you immediately for you to carry back to your table and you don't need to wait for the bill when you are ready to leave. Free refills of any coffee or tea drink, including lattes. Patrons of every walk of life make the atmosphere interesting. The interior of the pub is done beautifully with wood. The outside of the building looks most impressive, including the many beautiful planters. There is an outdoor patio and the inside of the pub is warm. I dislike drafty restaurants. Was a guest here for a going away party and had a wonderful time. We only drank the tap ciders but they were delicious. Staff was fun and attentive. The locals swear this is the cheapest pub in London and they'd like it to stay a secret. Oops. Denmark Hill is a very nice part of town. Take the London Overground and get off at Denmark Hill and walk up the hill - the Fox on the Hill is just 2 minutes. read more

This pub is great! I went there for a drink on Christmas Eve and I liked it... Yes it's a Wheterspoon Pub but I think it's one of the nicer ones for sure. I can only imagine how great it's gonna be in the summer! Me and my friends had a booth and it was a fun night. The Fox on the Hill seems to be that type of place which locals go to and keep going to either because it is local or because of the company they get there. Branded as a family pub, well, you find families there! Not the place to go to if you do not want to have kids around you when you are out. There is a restaurant area serving pub grub so don't go there if it is a culinary delight you are after. However, food is fitting if you are going their for a drink with friends and family and you want a bite to eat at the same time. Prices are great if you are used to the city/west end prices on your liquor! Felt that I could have bought a round of drinks for the whole pub and still get change out of what I would spend on a round of drinks for 4 friends up town!! You create your atmosphere as there is no loud music drowning out conversation (so make sure you go with people you want to talk to!). There is an outside area which is nice to sit in when the sun manages to shine. All in all, an easy place to meet up with friends an family and have a cheap get together. read more

Local Wetherspoon's. Booze is cheap, and so is food. Beer, ale and cider selection is surprisingly good compared to the other local watering holes. It has plenty of space, and is literally on top of a 'hill', Champion Hill to be specific. It has a nice view of the King's Hospital and its new helipad (although it isn't really isn't much to look at). Very big garden area perfect for summer months. read more

Located at the top of Denmark Hill out of the bustle of Camberwell it has a large beer garden for the summer, and is large enough inside that you can usually find a table or booth. Food and drink is typical cheap Wetherspoon's fare and I recommend the mixed grill of dubious meats along with a larger top as a hangover cure on Sunday afternoons or headed there early in the morning for a cheap breakfast and pint. read more

I have a vast shortage of local pubs which is probably the only reason that I have been to the Fox on the Hill. When the weather is decent enough to sit outside you can make the most of the numerous seating areas and beer gardens out the front and back of the pub. Inside it is just what you would expect from a Wetherspoons, dirt cheap drinks but rather neglected and vulgar decor in traditional pub style. Despite a longer journey, it is definitely a better option to walk past the Fox on the Hill in order to find an alternative probably more expensive but nice pub. read more

I must agree with the first two reviewers, this pub is ok if you stay away, the inside has seen better days, as like all wetherspoons their glasses are never clean, you should always wipe your shoes on leaving the pub. Didn't even attempt to eat read more

This pub is fine for those rare summer days when you want to have a drink in a nice outside setting. Unfortunately, the British weather rarely permits this and the inside of the pub is so neglected that for most of my time there I was sticking to the carpet. This place is off the grid for most Londoners, because it does require travel on either a bus or an overground to get there. However, it's actually on a hill, has EXTREMELY well-priced and great selection of pints (especially for London), and boasts a lovely area to hang around, if you're looking to relax. Also, it's across the street from a gorgeous garden, and has awesome pot roast. I highly recommend this place, especially if you're already in the area and are looking for somewhere to go and something to do. It's good on all days, and has happy hour specials. Reasonably priced huge Wetherspoons pub with outdoor seating. Food comes out of the kitchen extremely quickly. The bar prefers cash payments. Assertive queueing is required to get served. Can't say that I would frequent this location regularly but I have friends who are fans of this chain so pop into here from time to time. read more

This is a weatherspoons pub. The service can be a little slow and the interior is a little tiered. Food standard but well priced. Bit of an "old man's pub". Not much else to say about it (though there are some nice historic photos of Camberwell that are worth looking at). read more

This place is nice to stop by on a sunny afternoon for a drink but I wouldn't recommend the food. The building itself on the outside is very quaint and cute and I do like the seating area to the front and across the parking where they have a picnic like setting. The only thing is that there is no smoking allowed to the front but hardly anyone pays attention to the sign and it is not enforced which is a shame. It's a Wetherspoons so the prices are pretty great though the service is slow and not very well coordinated. We ordered food here once but probably won't do so again. Other wetherspoons we've been to (for example The Pommelers Rest) had better food. I had a chicken burger which was very dry and rubbery and I couldn't make myself eat half of it. The chips were cold and my dining companions complained about their food being quite cold. My advice is to stop by here on a warm, sunny day, enjoy a pint and the blue sky then move on. read more

i booked a table there for 12 people for a small family celebration,i had never been there before,and probably would never go back after having such an awful experience of the place,on arrival we were hurriedly forced to order our meals(due to there being a cut off period for under 18s to be off the premises by 9pm)fair enough,the food was cheap but edible,its the staff and the dirty toilets that really shocked me,my daughter who was 18 and had id to prove it,went up to the bar to order a jug of beer(for the 8 adults)but was told no by the rude barmaid that because we had to leave at 9pm(in half an hours time)and the id was not adequate,but my daughter had already been served alcahol with her meal,and when she pointed this out to the woman,she just walked off and started serving another customer,totally ignoring this fact,my daughter didnt want to cause any fuss so we decided to leave rather than argue,on the way out my sister and myself went into the toilets to freshen up but changed our minds as there was no toilet rolls,most of the floor was littered with soiled articles,tomato sauce was smeared all over the place(we suspect the kids who were running all over the place when we had arrived were to blame)and i wont mention the smell,so we reported this to a member of staff on leaving,,,,, it was a hell hole,but there is one thing that we all aggreed on was the lovely young man who brought us our meals,he was very nice,and very humble,and treated us respectfuly even though we had to leave by 9pm,if you want a crappy night out this is the place for you,,,,, i wouldnt go back there even if it was for free, read more
