This truck comes to Brandywine Outfitters once a month. The food is decent, but unfortunately the owner's attitude overshadows the experience. He has little sense of customer service--he has yelled at customers and their children, comes across as condescending and rude, and creates an uncomfortable atmosphere for both customers and staff. On the other hand, his female employee is consistently kind, welcoming, and professional. She does her best to make up for his behavior and is honestly the saving grace of the customer experience. read more

Parked outside the Newtown Brewery, in accord with Wolf's orders, can't drink a beer unless food is purchased. We went in ordered some beers then came back out to select some food. I got the bratwurst which was served in a paper boat with a giant pickle and a slice of French bread, toasted. Others got various items. The bratwurst was outstanding. The pickle was excellent. $9.50. Reasonable. Service was good and the food was prepared to order - not warmed up. A fine meal to accompany our beer tasting. We have been to the brewery many times and I have reviewed them separately. Mark. read more

I ordered before the truck opened at 4p despite it being announced on the venue's website the food truck would be available 12-9p (Friday afternoon and the venue was pretty packed). I was told to come back at 4:15p. I arrived at 4:13p to hear the owner cussing me out to his assistant because I hadn't returned. By name, in front of other customers. I pointed out I was in fact early and then he fished my ticket out of the trash to see what I had ordered. (I actually thought he'd pitched my order but he hadn't.) Owner was extremely rude, still yelling that I was late when I wasn't, and ultimately didn't even give me what I ordered. I specifically ordered ala carte items (brat + 2 full sides) for multiple people but he decided to make me one platter with two sides. The sides on the platter were smaller than ala carte, hence why I'd ordered them separately in the first place. I would have waited for a new order but the scene was chaotic ... and they had already given the orders for two customers waiting by the food truck to other customers who just took them and went inside the venue with their bonus food. The owner blamed the customers from whom the orders had been stolen for not yelling back at him when he supposedly called their names. It was really hard to understand what he was screaming due to both strong accent and pitch. That poor unfortunate woman who works with him ... forced to tolerate his chaotic, unnecessary rudeness. Food was bland and in small portions. A brat, half a cup of potatoes, and a quarter of a pickle for $13.78. We should have ordered delivery from one of the restaurants (permitted by the venue). read more

Truly delicious restaurant quality food comes out of this food truck. It rivals a lot of meals I've had at brick and mortar German spots, and all their stuff is very authentic. The owner is actually European and it shows; his meals definitely taste home cooked in the best way possible. If I ever see this truck around I won't hesitate to order again! read more

Our swim club had a "German" beer fest and the most authentic German thing we had there was the Flying Deutschman food truck. We ate here twice during the weekend and really enjoyed the offerings. Sadly, on Day 1, the staff didn't offer us an upgrade to a platter with sides. We were happy with the food, but a bit bummed that we missed out on a few sides. The next day, the Chef was the only one working the truck and he offered us platter upgrades. Ugh... Wish he cloned himself, so he could work the front and cook. Seriously. This chef is hilarious. Screaming, dancing, singing, and just having a good time. On day one, we went with wiener schnitzel and a jaeger schnitzel with a nice mushroom sauce. I always thought wiener schnitzel was veal, but maybe that's just Austrian... I dunno, but the pork schnitzel had a fantastic crunchy crust on them. Day two, we went with a special with a wienerwurst that was boiled with the red cabbage and home fries? We got our sides! We also went with a bratwurst. Both were great, but the special mustard sauce on the boiled wurst was amazing! A solid offering and I hope I see this truck again at some point. I won't be able to miss it. read more

I was too late booking this truck for an Oktoberfest party last year, but was super excited to do so this year. It was well worth it! The owner has a very charismatic personality (it really irks me seeing someone else calling him 'condescending' -- not at ALL my perception of him), and was able to serve a large number of guests in a very short period of time considering the high quality of food. All the guests I spoke to after raved about their orders. I got the chicken cutlet with mushroom sauce, sauerkraut, and German homefries- all delicious! The chicken cutlet was prepared perfectly. From a business perspective, he showed up on time, gave us exactly what we asked for, and helped us when one of our other vendors dropped the ball on something. I will continue to sing their praises and will not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for a high quality food truck. DANKE! read more

I was so excited to eat here but then I got food poison from this man and his truck! Do not eat here! I can't leave a review without giving a star. I tried the jagerschnitzel and was throwing up for two days straight. Stay away!! Not worth it! read more

I had a wonderful meal here at a winery near Doylestown. Excellent schnitzel, and wonderfully executed side dishes. The convivial company of the proprietor was also excellent. I highly recommend this food truck! read more

I got hooked when the truck used to stop by our Job site. Sterling's food was hands down Amazing! We've introduced family and friends to the truck at various events around the area. Vicky and Sterling are fantastic people! Their food is hands down the BEST. Also super cool to pair their food with different local brewers and get them exposure. Cannot wait to hang with them again this summer! read more

While visiting a local brewery, we tried some of your dishes. We had nothing to say other than how delicious, well made and fresh all the food tasted. Anyone who sees your truck needs to try it out. They will love it too! read more

I made my way back to the The Flying Deutschman. I had to get the bratwurst again, because it was so freaking good. I also got a pork schnitzel, potato salad and fries. The schnitzel was super tasty. I forget the name, but was with a red sauce. They have several kinds. I'm sure I will try another some time soon. The potato salad was pretty good as well. It was certainly of the German variety. The french fries were disappointing. They were under cooked. I'm not sure if this was bad preparation, or how they are done in Germany. But I like my fries crispy. These were on the soft and raw side. They were cooked, so not totally raw. Just not cooked enough for my liking. Not to be hung up on the fries, I will be back because they do a lot very well. read more

Ate here yesterday at Wissahickon Brewing. I've never had schnitzel before so can't compare it to anything...hence 4 stars for now. First off, the owner is awesome. High energy, engaging, clearly having fun cooking while jamming to good tunes. Actually, I'm adding an extra star now because he looks Like the love child of Adam Clayton and Billy Idol. I got the eggplant schnitzel with curry sauce- massive, delicious portion. Hubs got the traditional Wiener schnitzel with a side of potato salad. He loved them both. Will definitely stalk upcoming locations and try to take my BIL, who is schnitzel aficionado. read more

This is my first time eating here so I'll only give it 4 stars (for now!), but I'm already impressed. Besides the fact that the food was awesome, the guy in charge is the coolest dude ever. It's 90 degrees out today and while I was busy rethinking all my major life decisions bc I was dumb enough to wear all black and wander outside on a blacktop with no shade, this dude was laughing it up and singing along while taking everyone's orders and seemed to make a personal connection with every person that ordered. Even if the food was mediocre, I'd come back because of the way this guy interacts with people, plus I grew up in the suburbs, so the idea of a food truck to me is like the coolest thing ever. As far as the food goes, I ordered the Jäger Schnitzel (idk if that's spelled right) which is apparently a pork cutlet with some sort of mushroom sauce on top. It's not something I would typically order, but I really liked it!! In all honesty, I ordered it bc it's what the guy in front of me ordered and I kind of panicked under the pressure when they asked me what I wanted, but it was a good decision bc it was delicious! I never would think to eat German food, but I'm glad I tried this place! I'd definitely recommend trying it out! read more

The Flying Deutschman is a Philly food truck that we love to see visit our local area. The Flying Deutschman is an awesome food truck that serves up some fresh and delicious German food. We really appreciate that it's unique food and not the same old food truck fare. The truck is currently a Pirates of the Caribbean theme, with a flat screen t.v. that is always playing some kind of music. Head Chef & Owner Stirling Sowerby is always full of energy and engages with all of his customers. Stirling is usually dancing around, making jokes, or once I actually saw him climbing up a billboard ladder, true story! Solid food all around! 5 Stars for this one! read more

You have to try this truck. I had Jägerschnitzel and it's the best I've had outside of Germany. The sauce is amazing. My friend got one of their special schnitzel that had a fried egg on top, it looked delicious. Ate here when they were at free will brewing, the food goes perfectly with beer. They also have eggplant schnitzel for vegetarians. Can't wait to try the Currywurst! read more

Good sausage. Delivers what he promises and its a true German experience. Food, service is all great, but deducting 2-stars for inconsistency. One star deducted because he's built up a following in the South Philly area in 2014 but failed to return in 2015 (concentrating instead on the burbs). That's fine, its his decision but he has left his South Philly customers stranded for sausage a little bit, which is not acceptable. Second star deducted because of his poor location communication - some times he'll provide no updates for days and/or just 10 minutes before arriving at his destination. IF he gets his communications act together in the South Philly area for the rest of the year and I might bump it up one star. If you manage to find this car somewhere recommend the sausage with German potato dumplings. Perfect size sausage for lunch. read more

I've only had a chance to try the Bratwurst. I've tried them all over Philly and this one is definitely the best. I can't say if it's authentic German, but I'll definitely be back for more when they are in Love Park! read more

Oh wow! I am so surprised by how amazing this truck is. Why haven't I tried you sooner?!?! I was extra hungry today and everything sounded great. They had a watermelon cucumber gazpacho which turned out to be super refreshing and flavorful. I need the recipe!!! I also got the currywarst which was cutup bratwarst covered in this tomato curry sauce. Amazing!! I wish it was 2 bratwurst instead of 1 but I'm feeling quite satisfied after pairing with the pound cake and gazpacho. The pound cake was a bit dry in my opinion but I'll definitely be back to try some of their other menu items. read more

My family ordered from this food truck recently at a local brewery. We found the gentleman to be rude and condescending. We ordered the Bockwurst and the Schnitzel. Side of "German home fries." The food was average at best, and served luke warm. The sausages are served with a small baguette on these tiny strips of cardboard that are not ideal for having to walk from the food truck to your seat in the brewery. Between the poor customer service and the average food, we will avoid breweries in the future if this is the featured food truck. read more

The food was really tasty. By BF got a pork cutlet with mushroom sauce on top, although it was fried, it was really good and not that greasy at all. Just need to burn the calories later, haha. I also got the wurst, which is also tasty. There's no need to get a bun, because the wurst is good enough. I got the curry one, the curry tastes like the mix between ketchup and mustard, but not too strong. I am definitely come back here again, though it is rare to see them at Clark Park. read more

This truck is fantastic! They pay great attention to detail and it shows. I've had their specials each time I've gone. Food consumed: 1. Oxtail soup- Amazing! Came in a smaller cup than expected, but was delightfully filling and came with bread. 2. Tomato Bisque- Delish! Came with bonus fresh mushrooms! 3. Watermelon Salad- Had mozzarella, basil, and vinaigrette. Creative, pretty, and super tasty. I really need to try their regular menu items, but it has been so hot lately that I've been going for lighter items. I also want to mention that their customer service is outstanding. The owner really cares about his product and it shows. He is highly energetic and very engaging. Pleasant truck to visit. read more

I was in Germany a few years ago and loved how different everything tasted over there. This food is delicious, and the most authentic to Germany I've found in the states. As an added bonus, the owner is one of the funniest people you'll ever meet. The combination of flavor and fun personality make this my favorite food truck in the area! read more

My favorite food truck in Philly! Love it every time he comes down to Clark Park on a Saturday afternoon. I haven't tried any of the larger specials, but the bratwurst and bockwurst were amazing. He even gave some samples to our puppy. (: You can pay by credit card, so never have to worry about whether you have enough cash to stop by. read more

I don't even like eggplant usually but that schnitzel changed my mind! Love how they had a vegetarian option for my girlfriend as we run into that issue a lot and it can be very stressful for me read more

My wife grew up enjoying German food and introduced me to it many years ago. Through all the years and all the trips we have taken and enjoyed German food, I've never had a wienerschnitzel as tasty as the ones prepared from the Flying Deutschman. My first taste was at a Food Truck event at Chaddsford Winery. My second was at a community event in Eagleville. Both schnitzels were worth the drive. Soft, flavorful and almost juicy, they were a real treat. My wife tried the curry schnitzel, the bratwurst and the sides and enjoyed them all. The service was fast and friendly, the price reasonable. I will be looking forward to more drives for this enjoyable food in the time ahead. read more

Sterling and his crew provided outstanding and delicious food to our 100 friends at our wedding. Two years later folks remember it being a fun and relaxed party, and specifically how great and fun the food trucks were. (We also hired Nina's Waffles out of New Hope) Even the vegetarian offerings. This truck was at Free WillBrewery today. Went to have a beer with my wife while sitting outside in the beautiful weather. What we didn't like was the food truck owner's loud music , his loud obnoxious voice and whistling. Stop it, we don't need to listen to your taste of music, nor follow you conversation from 15' away, please stop with the loud talk. You're there to sell food, do "just" that. read more

We were lucky enough to sample this truck's fare on NYE. As you can imagine just by the name we are having the cuisine of the Fatherland. The personality is a great as the food by the way. In any case we tried multiple wursts as well as the sauerkraut and red cabbage. Fantastic. Pricing is great. Service was wonderful. Finished up with the Nutella pound cake. Great finisher. read more

Visited the truck at the Manayunk Streat Food fest. The Jagerschnitzel was extremely tasty and it was made very well. The coating was crispy and light and the meat was juicy. I was hesitant to order because it required a fork and knife which makes for difficult to eat street food. But I certainly recommend taking a few minutes to find somewhere to sit if you come across this truck. read more

For a food truck, the quality of his food is amazing. The schnitzel is never dry, the sauces have great flavor. I love his Kraut and his cold Green Bean salad with mustard seeds (seasonal). His specials are always good and the wursts are awesome! He has a great attitude and you never wait long for you food. Great music playing. read more
