The '53 uke was in rough shape--old, rustic, and covered in decades of grime. Matt transformed it completely. He finely detailed the body until it was shining like a mantle piece, fixed the tuners, and recommended Nylgut strings that make it sound incredible. It went from a dusty relic to a daily player that I can't put down. For my Walden guitar, Matt performed "wild work." The action was high and the strings were dead, but he used a "cold clamp" technique on the neck and hand-carved a perfect unbleached bone saddle. He even recommended a spectacular cocobolo bridge to match the guitar's aesthetic and tone. Both instruments came back sounding "shockingly fantastic." If you have an instrument that has lost its "soul" or just needs expert engineering to sing again, Matt is the man to see. A true master of his craft and a total professional.

Even though they were two hours from my home in New York, they were absolutely worth the drive. Before making my purchase, I called with a few questions and found them to be more than helpful. When I arrived, my bass was ready and set up perfectly. The entire staff -- including the owner -- was amazing. They took the time to talk with me, made me feel welcome, and even offered me a cup of coffee. I honestly haven't received this level of service or felt this appreciated in a music store in over 25 years. Their selection of new and used guitars rivals the legendary guitar shops that once lined 48th Street in NYC. There was no signs stating the store was closed. In fact, the lights were on and people were playing some instruments. I must say though, the woman who asked us to leave was very kind and not rude in anyway. But, it would have been helpful to put a sign stating the store was closed or even write the hours on the door. At the least, they could lock the doors, because from the outside it looked open.

He absolutely mangled my guitar with the re-fret I had him do; lots of sprout and the fingerboard was trashed. Amidst all this, he had my guitar on some half-assed jig with clamps that wore the finish down to the wood. Allowing this man to touch my guitar (which he mangled and then stole after ghosting me) is one of the greatest regrets I have from the past bunch of years.
