The Flower Fields is one of those iconic must-visit spots in Carlsbad. Flower season is in the spring, so there's only a few months in a year where people can visit. Although tickets weren't the cheapest at $27 per adult, I thought it was well worth it. There's so much to see! With live music, flowers everywhere, a sweet pea maze, glass sculpture garden, orchid green house, and a massive field with rows and rows of ranunculus flowers, it took me a few hours to explore everything. The sunflower field are to the far right of the fields and was walkable. The tractor ride and butterfly encounter are a separate cost. If walking long distances is a concern, the tractor ride for $8 per person is a great option. The flower field is also connected to an Armstrong nursery for those who want to purchase some plants to bring home. Overall, I had a fantastic time here. I'd love to come back!
Socal's most beautiful flower farm! Located about a half mile from the 5 freeway in Carlsbad, on a little hill where the colorful flowers pop, and from the top have ocean views, it is always worth a visit. This time, a friend and I planned a tea day. 3 days a years (I believe all Saturdays), they offer high tea in the barn. This is an elevated ticket that must be purchased in advance but does include your entry to the flower fields. These tickets always sell out! At first we thought it was a bit pricey, but after spending the day at field, it was more than worth it. A visit to any local tea house is in the range of $50-$75 plus tip and tax & can even go up from there. The flower fields entry is $27. So, for $100, it felt like a steal! First off, the Tea experience was wonderful. It was definitely more casual with less people dressing up. It was very well organized! The staff was fantastic and very attentive. The tables were beautifully set with matching tea sets. Keep in mind, a local tea house is the partner and brings in all the table settings, food, and staff for the event. We would definitely do this again! We left the sitting satisfied, but the portions could have been a bit bigger. (Ie: and extra sandwich and/or scones per person) After a lovely meal, we spent hours in the fields. First up, a tractor ride ($8 ticket). I had never done this before and it's an absolute must. Why? The fields are way bigger than I thought. Without the tractor ride, we never would have seen the sunflowers or found out they have Monday blueberry picking. There is also live entertainment, food vendors, items for purchase, butterfly farm (extra $8 ticket), and the list goes on. So many picture perfect spots! By far, this was my best experience at the fields as my friend and I spend about 6 hours total. So, for the price of the tea ticket, we definitely got our monies worth, plus tons of beautiful pictures.

We enjoyed really liked them. To Red Oven blueberry pizza & lemon pizza brought me back to Italy so fresh ingredients And Ranch 45 and puddings & gelato all the tasty drinks Tiff was great I met such nice people here, from San Diego. What a great time
I really love the Flower Fields at Carlsbad. They have ample parking spots. The staff are very sweet, friendly and genuinely warm. Once I arrive at this place, I feel that I am walking in a magic land surrounded by breathtaking and colorful flowers. It is endless beauty. The field is about fifty acres. . The visit usually starts in the beginning of March and ends on the second week of May. We purchased our tickets online. It included wagon rides and parking. The ticket for the butterfly encounter was not included. You will find many nice food vendors around if you are hungry. There were pizza place, hotdog, tacos, burritos, cotton candy, ice cream, popcorn and more. There are also numerous seating around the field if you are tired. The field is a unique agricultural experience. It is really a great place to relax, and get surrounded by heavenly flowers. Every time I go there, I wish I could stay longer or come more frequent. We had such a wonderful and joyful time.
Giving this place 4/5 stars due to the $27 per ticket cost I hadn't visited the flower fields in probably over 5 years. The field is beautiful but I wouldn't say worth the $27 cost. I liked that they have food/drinks vendors.

[Admission]: $27 per adult. Tickets must be purchased online before arrival and I was able to purchase tickets on the spot via my smartphone. [Activities]: Activities haven't changed much since my last visit a decade ago. *** Lookout area *** Expect waiting lines to take pictures with the colorful ranunculus flower fields. I would recommend paying for and taking the tractor wagon ride as it goes around the field and drops you off on the other side which is less crowded for taking better pictures. *** Sunflower field (expect full bloom in mid-April *** The field is on the opposite side of the entrance and it is worth seeing. I highly recommend taking the tractor rather than walking. *** Antique Tractor Wagon Ride ($8 for 11 years & up, $4 for 3-10 years old, and free for 0-2 years old; payment is made before the standby line) *** The tractor takes visitors around the Flower Fields AND the sunflower field. Highly recommended to pay for the tractor as it saved our party time and energy. *** Stamp Passport *** Visitors can ask for a stamp passport and get stamps at eight different stations. Once the passport is completed, visitors can receive $1 off at the Sluice Mining Attraction. *** Sculpture Garden / Don Miller's Garden / Fountain Garden / Demonstration Garden / Orchid Greenhouse / Historic Poinsettia Display *** Many spots to take photos with beautiful flowers. There are also 2 giant chairs at Illusion Garden. *** Main stage *** Live performances and check the website for a list of entertainment and performance events. *** Sweet peas maze *** The maze wasn't too difficult to navigate, but expect some frustration from looping around the maze. *** Butterfly Encounter ($8 for 11 years & up, $4 for 3-10 years old, and free for 0-2 years old; payment is made before the standby line) *** A greenhouse filled with hundreds of live butterflies. *** Pop-Up Market / Strawberry Shack *** Various snacks and bites with a new weekly vendor (check the website to see which vendor). The Strawberry Shack is home of the famous strawberry shake and Dole Whip. *** U-pick blueberries *** Check The Flower Fields' social media for updates on when picking will be available. [Conclusion]: Our party ended up staying for approximately two hours and this is certainly one of those places worth checking out for those visiting San Diego for the first time. Personally this is probably a once-in-a-decade visit for me.
I absolutely love going to the Flower Fields. This is the 4th time we have gone. It's a beautiful place with rows of gorgeous flowers. They have the sea of sunflowers too if you go in the second half of the opening season. They have food trucks on site and lemon afe, popcorn and cotton candy. There are many spots for beautiful photo opportunities.
It's a huge field of flowers! 55 acres of rows of different colors of ranunculus flowers to be exact. It's definitely a San Diego spring staple. The window of opening is small. March-early May. Put it on your calendar because that time goes fast and then it's closed. Besides the flowers there are other attractions like a butterfly pavilion, maze, and food stands. If you want a quiet time to relax by looking at a beautiful field of flowers you won't get that experience, at least not on a weekend. The weekend is busy with lots of visitors which can be fun but it's also a rough time to find parking and it can get overwhelming with all the people focused so intently on Instagram photos and not respecting the boundary ropes set up. There are a couple of places where you can go further in the fields to get that photo that makes you look like you are in the middle of the field but those tended to have a bit of a line.
This place is magical! The flowers are just amazing like walking through a rainbow so many rows and rows and they just go for days and days... I went on a Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM and it was perfect time. I spent about four hours there walking around looking at all the really cool displays going in with the butterfly habitat just sitting and listening to the birds. There's a lot of little benches everywhere you can go and sit and then I got on the tractor ride that was eight dollars and worth it because they take you kind of far up the farm to see the sunflower fields and you can get off and get back on and there was a field of lavender. It's just beautiful. Highly recommend going here and just taking pictures walking around and just taking in the day. You can also see the ocean from the flower fields as well. It's just kind of hard to explain how beautiful it is. When you leave, you also go through a giant nursery, and you can buy flowers for the way home!
It's official...the flowers are in full bloom!!! It's been a minute since I visited the Carlsbad flower fields and they did not disappoint. The property has a lot to do and see beyond looking at the fields and there's sooo many photo worthy spots! They have an few tented areas with various flowers to see, there's the butterfly pavilion & tractor ride (for an extra charge), lots of seating with live music, and various food stands, ice cream and dessert! They even have an Armstrong Gardens onsite where you can buy flowers and gardening supplies. It was really hot today, but I'm happy to say the ocean breeze made it really nice and they have lots of shady areas and even have a vendor selling cute paper umbrellas. We finished the day with some refreshing soft serve and dole whip!
Such a beautiful place. Yes, it can get very crowded, but that's to be expected since the season doesn't last all year. I know so many long time SD residents who've never been. You should go! I've been there on a weekend and parking can be tough. They have a new paid parking option that gets you in the back way. Might be worth it if you don't want the hassle of fighting for a parking spot. Go during the week if you can. Parking is easier and lines for photo ops are shorter. Pay the extra $8 for the tractor ride. It loops around and you can hop on and off at every stop. We rode around a complete loop just before we ended our visit. A recording plays that gives you the history of the farm. The flowers were absolute beautiful. The ranunculus were so vibrant. There is also a sunflower patch. There's so much more than just the fields. There are poinsettia displays, a sweet pea maze, an aviary, beautiful stained glass garden, an orchid greenhouse. So much to do!
My wife and I had such a great time at Yelp in Bloom 2026! This was my first time attending a yelp event and it was also my first time visiting The Flower Fields. I've driven past the The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch® more times than I can count, but standing there, in the middle of all those Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers, at sunset was an absolutely amazing experience! The Flower Fields was the perfect venue for this event! Not only were the views spectacular, but the all of the vendors that participated in the event were so great! If you haven't visited The Flower Fields in the spring, you need to. Thank you Audrey, Hannah, The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch®, and Yelp for hosting this fabulous event! Loved the businesses showcased, their offerings, and the event!
ALWAYS such a beautiful destination! The flowers are gorgeous! I am always happy to visit. They have affordable prices, multiple photo opportunities, food trucks/food options available, a PLAYGROUND FOR KIDS, tractor rides, and a gift shop. I enjoy coming here and I try to come once a year! I am always amazed looking at the flowers (: Unfortunately it's just a far drive for us and I wish there were more activities for kids to be involved and to do here.
This is a seasonal fun tour next to the outlets You must pay on line. We did the tractors and wagon You can get off a few times to see the flowers. Parking by the way is crowded. A must visit is the butterfly area you just need to make sure you do not take any with you. They do have a food and shops think carnival foods. If you love colors and flowers, well this is a must destination to visit. Walking through fields of thousands and thousands of flowers is surreal. The ambience there, peaceful and family friendly. I am truly amazed at how beautiful those flower fields looked. The photo opportunities are endless. The butterfly encounter is a must for adults and children alike( disclosure if your kid screams and cries every time a butterfly flies past them or clinches to your leg! Then it's your cue to exit) any how there's food, shopping, and fun at this location. Definitely wear light clothes and hair up as it is dirt roads hence it's a flower field. This was overall such a surreal and beautiful experience. Recommend 1000%. read more

Yelp in Bloom at the Carlsbad Flower Fields was absolute perfection! I attended the Yelp in Bloom event at the Carlsbad Flower Fields and it exceeded every expectation. The fields were already stunning, but Yelp really took it to another level with all the special touches throughout the experience. From curated food and drink tastings to interactive pop-ups and beautifully styled photo ops, every detail felt thoughtfully planned. It was such a fun way to explore the fields, walking through rows of vibrant flowers while discovering local vendors and unique bites along the way. The atmosphere was lively but still relaxed, and everything was super well-organized. I loved how it felt both exclusive and welcoming at the same time. It's the kind of event where you can just wander, take in the views, and stumble upon something new around every corner. Huge shoutout to the organizers for creating such a memorable experience. If you ever get the chance to attend Yelp in Bloom, don't hesitate! It's the perfect mix of beautiful scenery, great food, and good vibes. read more
My review got lost... I didn't know about this place until an acquaintance posted a photo on social media. That inspired me to visit with my SO but little did I know they're closing in just 2 days! What a bummer!!! Maybe that's why the flowers aren't as vibrant as expected, but I still really enjoyed them. We walked around, took lovely photos, and made some great memories. There's a wagon ride you can take around the garden (for a fee), but if you're walking, comfy shoes are a must. Your feet will thank you later! There's also a shop at the exit, though nothing really caught my eye. Parking was super easy. Free and plenty of it. You can even park at the Outlet and walk over to the flower field. Public facilities are available and are okay. They give discount to veterans and more.. read more
Omg... Wow, excitement, simply Amazing, Truly Grateful, is how I felt here at the Flower Fields. After seeing all the social media post, I told myself I must make it here, I am thrilled to be surrounded by flowers and all things gardens and plants! I had to make a special stop here, made some adjustments to my trips just to make this visit possible. Thank you to the wonderful love ( my uber driver) for bringing me to this place, I feel truly blessed, my heart is overflowing with joy just being here! 48 acres of breathtaking florals! The Flower Fields located at Carlsbad, San Diego is incredible venue for visit to see the blooms, nature and Spring. Book your tickets online, there are some discounts during the weekdays. General admission tickets are $27. comes out to $54. total for both of us including taxes and fees. Entering the premises, there are so much flowers, even in the parking lot too, I loved seeing them while walking to the entrance. We went during the weekday and select our entrance time of 2pm, so it wasn't too crowded. I saw the huge signage "Wish You Were Here" thinking of my momma, my sister, and daughter, I wish they could experience this incredible fields of colorful florals, by the hardworking farmers toooo. The flowers in season are ranunculus, they are so beautiful seeing them live! We paid $8. additional for the wagon ride which is 20 minute ride and they are unlimited. We hopped on and off the wagon tons of times, walked around the fields, explored the acres of ranunculus, took tons of photos, creating manu floral memories together. I truly enjoyed The Flower Fields moments, This is not a dream!! Totally recommend, go before the season ends: May 11, opens daily from 9am-6pm. ** & We just had lunch before stopping at The Flower Fields so it was perfect to spend all the time I wanted here, we didn't rush because somebody was hungry & grouchy hehe..., there are food vendors here but I feel having meals before helped ** read more
Flower Fields ...forever! The Beatles song 'Strawberry Fields Forever,' melodically played in my mind every time I reminisce of my day trip at the Carlsbad Flower Fields. Located next to the Armstrong Nursery, the Flower Fields has been here for over 50 years and is the largest growers of Rananculis, aka Persian Buttercup and Tecolote Giant. In Spanish Tecolote means owl, possibly called that as some of the flowers have a dark hugh center, like an owl's eye! Open to the public for a fee, tickets can be purchased online or at the window. There are 50 acres, produce 80 million blooms during it's peak. More information on its history, ownership and details/specifics are available to read on the pics I posted with headings: Carlsbad Ranch, Flower Fields and Ranunculus. Rows and rows of vibrant flowers in bands of colors are spectacularly a visual treat. These flowers do NOT have any fragrance, NO scent therefore, No bumble bees around. It's quite funny to see people trying to get close to the flowers to get a scent, but No fragrance at all. Lots of colors from white, to the pinks, reds, oranges and multicolored...beautiful! There's a wagon ride with a prerecorded narrated info as you're driven to a couple stops on the field. Strict instructions not to walk into the fields except to designated areas which were taped allows visitors to enter and look closer and take pics. My visit included my service pup Fendi and my friend, who currently uses a medical cane for mobility. The staff were very accommodating; boarding the wagon had a ramp, no steps which facilitated anyone with similar physicality and difficulty. There's a lot of walking of dirt fields, which are essentially farm grounds, no paved paths so wearing comfortable walking shoes, clothing and a hat for sun protection is advisable. I wore my Valentino rockstud espadrilles which are casual and comfortable in my book, but they got dusty. My long sleeve floral silk cover duster over a silk sequins tank top, jeans and straw hat was perfect. My pup Fendi likes flowers and enjoyed seeing them up close. My friend especially liked the wagon ride and also liked the 50 acres rows of flowers, such a spectacular sight. Overall a very lovely way to spend the day. Went here with my Tita (aunt) and my cousins for a birthday! Really stunning views, especially with the glimmering sunshine that made the blooming flower shimmer even more. Made for such wonderful pictures. Weather was perfect, as it always is in San Diego, that I could sunbathe on the many benches or the picnic table at the top. I really was in awe of the water bodies nearby and the pier city-like look that you see from the top. It made me appreciate the beauty of San Diego in its entirety. I like that there are different photo op locations at the Flower Fields with the butterfly benches, foliage arches, etc. they even have unique activations like the mini kid park, butterfly garden, greenhouse, film view tent, etc. the fact that you can even host occasions, like a wedding, here had my jaw drop because this location really does it all! Many different vendors...thank gosh for those who sold cold beverages and dessert in this sunny weather. A bit pricey, but expected for a function like this. Got to try to freshly-picked Carlsbad strawberries, but it was $15 omg !!! Also, $27 admission is crazy D: it was a smaller flower field than what I saw at Mount Vernon in Washington State. Loved the flower field arrangement there more than this one. Admission there was $20. Oh .... Parking was plentiful, even on the busy days! read more

One of my favorite places to visit in the spring is The Flower Fields in Carlsbad. It includes beautiful ranunculus flowers, a butterly habitat, an orchid nursery, pointsetta nursery, stained glass/metal artworks, dove and finch habitat, various food stands, a play area for kids, a tractor ride for those farther to reach fields and a sweet pea maze. Each year I take over 100 photographs. I just never tire of the endless color varieties within each flower. At this point I could probably wallpaper my entire home with my flower photographs alone. read more

Super beautiful spot! If you've never been, this is your sign -- just go for it. We booked tickets online for a Friday, and the crowd size was very manageable -- busy but not overwhelming. You cannot buy tickets at the window. Must be online and saw some folks scanning the QR code outside. The views were absolutely stunning. So many flowers -- unbelievable and beautiful. Definitely take your time and snap lots of photos! Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a hat or umbrella, along with plenty of water. There's also an optional tractor ride for $8 with three operational stops you can hop on or off (at least during our visit). You can bring a picnic and there's tables available. Lots of folks brought outside food. They also had a few food trucks on-site, a bit on the pricey side and nothing special. Across the street is a Costco if you need to fill up on gas like we did -- and also across the street is a food hall inside the Windmill structure, which is great for grabbing a bite or cooling off after your visit. read more
Gorgeous spring activity in Carlsbad. It had been several years since I last visited the flower fields and my most recent trip reminded me just how beautiful it is. That said, I would say it's primarily just a photo opp. There aren't really any activities beyond just walking around and snapping some pictures (albeit very pretty pictures). Admission is also $30 which I think is exorbitant but it's always very busy regardless. If you appreciate some natural spring beauty then it's a must visit. Nice location near the outlet mall to get your shopping fix before or after too. read more

Today, On 27APR2025, I took my girlfriend on a whole date day! This being the 2nd and our favorite stop! At or around 1000AM, we got arrived to this beautiful area and enjoyed every second and every step of it! The FOOD. We didn't eat here but there was a bunch of snack spots from popcorn to cotton candy to ice cream and some fresh squeezed delicious lemonade! The SERVICE. We entered at the "Main Entrance" next to the gardening store and the ladies that scanned our tickets were so kind and patient as I was downloading my tickets to my cellular device. We loved that! &when we were inside, the workers asked to take our pictures and gave us fun facts about the plants and it was an amazing time spent! The AMBIANCE. It's OUTDOORS! Clear skies, far views, ocean views, all of it was breathtaking and such a sight to see! I would back everyday if I could! The ONLY "downfalls" to this place is 1) the green cutouts you walk onto to get to the midst of the flowerbeds are old and could potentially be a hazard if not taken care of and 2) $27 per adult and $25 for seniors/military; don't get me wrong I appreciate the love they show for us military but I still feel as if it's pretty pricey all around. Nonetheless, if the opportunity presented itself to go, I strongly recommend taking advantage of the opportunity to go! Whether it be a family outing, a date, or even a casual stroll for yourself, you must go! There's mazes, tractor rides, a butterfly encounter, and a venue hall for event! I recommend to not wear shoes you. Are about because the majority of it is all dirt and muddy depending on where you walk. Overall recommendation: 9.5 of 10! read more

Such a beautiful place to visit and a great place to add to your San Diego itinerary!! You can book tickets online, and even if you make a last-minute trip the day of, for the most part, you can still get tickets. This field is HUGE, and that is what I love. It is bound to happen that you will see a lot of people taking pictures, so having a huge space where you don't have to worry about long waits to take pictures or walking side by side next to people is great. Not only does the Flower Fields have their famous field of colorful flowers, they have different flower stations, activities, and food vendors. There is also a line for the field truck to drive you around, but honestly, it is so nice walking the entire thing. I could imagine the truck being helpful on a very hot day, as the UV levels in San Diego can get very high. read more

Wow!!!! What a refreshing place. The day was beautiful and the flower fields were really beautiful. Tickets bought online. Thursday is senior day and the ticket price is 7$ less than the rest of the days. 27$ and 20$. Child is also discounted. There is a truck that rides but around the field. It has a few stops so youcan get off or on. The truck ride is another 8$. Walk is manageable and there are spots where you can take pics. The sweetpea maze was very cute. Butterfly encounter requires an extra ticket. The cafe has food and there is an ice cream shop too. Its a myst if you visit San Diego from March 1 till the mothers day in May. read more
The Carlsbad Flower Fields was a worthwhile visit, offering plenty of activities and opportunities to take amazing photos to capture memories of your time here. I took my cousin who's visiting from outside the US, and we absolutely loved it. There were various activities you can do once you're inside that usually costs extra; the ones we did and recommend are the tractor ride ($8) and the monarch butterfly house ($5). The tractor ride gives you unlimited rides around the larger flower fields, taking you to the sunflower fields, u-pick organic blueberry patch, and north of the sweet pea maze/orchid greenhouse which makes seeing everything here a less of a slog and more of a fulfilling fun filled day. I've tried walking it out the first time I was here with my partner who's a professional athlete and it can get pretty tiring walking through the whole park. The butterfly house was magical! You can feed them nectar with soaked q-tips, allowing you to get up close and personal with them. 10/10, would come again. It's a great place for family and friends especially in spring when everything was in bloom. read more
Simply lovely! I've always wanted to visit and finally got the chance--and it didn't disappoint. The staff were absolutely sweethearts and though we didn't have time to walk the full round, the $5 tractor ride (with two hop-on/hop-off stops) was the perfect solution. A bit bumpy, but slow enough to soak in the flowers, sunshine, and charm. Scattered throughout are quirky photo ops--benches, oversized chairs, even a rustic tractor. We lucked out with a light crowd, though I've heard those photo spots can draw lines on busier days. Perfect for a date or a family outing. Not usually a dress girl, but I did find myself wishing I'd worn one--this place is made for twirling. read more

Easy to find, lots of free parking, and okay prices. Monday is buy one adult ticket and get a child free (up to age ten). They have food options inside but I didn't try any - pizza, tamales, tacos They also have desserts - ice cream sundaes, cones, shortcakes, cotton candy , etc There is currently a butterfly pavilion (not sure if it's seasonal) and it's $5 additional. We didn't go in because it looked quite small and I didn't want to pay the additional money to be honest. There is a tractor that will take you around the massive farm to see all they have to offer and give you some facts and information along the way. It's $8.50 per adult or $4 per child. You can get on and off as many times as you'd like. It was really a good deal because the farm is massive. It is walkable but it's truly huge. They plant their ranunculus in waves so they don't all bloom at once and die. They start blooming in mid march and bloom for about ten weeks. They are 13 gorgeous colors and many photo opportunities. We even saw someone get engaged. All in all we spent about 3 hours there. read more

Got in early within 30 minutes of the fields opening and glad I did that as the crowd swarmed in closer to 11am to noon. Easy ticket purchase and instructions online. Plenty of flowers still in bloom mid April and it was COOL out today, hallelujah! The ranunculus fields were colorful and bright, you can buy a fresh cut bunch for $11.99 right at the exit as you walk through Armstrong Gardens center that's attached to the fields. You do have to pay an extra fee for the tractor ride, butterfly exhibit, forgot if there was a fee for the sweet pea maze but not sure as I didn't go in. They do have finches and doves in open cages around the small garden, a stage and covered seating area with love music. A few small vendors selling merch and I bought a cute Chinese style fabric parasol. There was plenty of shaded benches, yummy soft serve ice cream, fresh and zesty lemonade and piping hot kettle popcorn. There's also some food trucks selling tacos, tamales, and hot dogs. A nice family outing location, photo ops w the flowers in every nook and corner. Parking could be a little difficult to find as it gets packed fast during the spring season. read more

I absolutely love flowers and I had a great time. There were so many photo opportunities. There was a playground where my little ones could play which is so appreciated by parents. This is my first time visiting the Flower fields in Carlsbad. The flowers, the colors, the birds and activities were all so beautiful. I enjoyed walking around the fields of flowers, seeing the beautiful orchids, the USA flag , the cages of birds, the art decor around the grounds and the activities available to everyone. There were lots of school kids learning about composting and planting. It was a little overcast so the weather was perfect for walking. Great place to visit, learn about the flowers, get your steps in, and spend the day with your friends. My favorite plant/flower was the Chinese Lantern tree. So beautiful! read more
Beautiful! We spent over 3 hours at The Flower Fields. There are lots of photo ops with the beautiful fields of ranunculus. They also have a fun small maze, a sunflower field, butterfly garden, tractor ride, food trucks, playground, and face painting. Tickets are sold online and check in was a breeze. Parking lot was packed and we ended up parking next door at the outlet mall. There is no re-entry so we are inside but next time we will eat at the outlet mall. Food was a little pricey and not so great. I paid $10 for a bone dry sandwich for my lunch. The restrooms were clean and once you get into the field, it didn't feel full at all. The tractor ride was a nice and easy way to see the entire field. They also play an audio about the field so you get to learn more about it too. read more
It's a beautiful San Diego annual staple, however, $81 for 2 adult and 12 year old (11 and above is considered an adult) is too much. It's a place where you can take photos and people watch for maybe an hour. Tickets are only online. We had a question regarding timing of the tickets and went to their customer service booth. There was no one else in line and the lady was rude - no customer service. No smile. No, "have a great time." I specifically wanted to visit the butterfly encounter. And it was small or perhaps felt small because there were too many people. It's an extra $5 to enter. When you purchase the tickets you're not told there's 10-15 minutes maximum time. You go to another line to get a QTIP with butterfly nectar and again not told the time limit. It wasn't until 5 minutes in the exhibit you hear a voice yelling over the time limit. And by that time, people were obviously not paying close attention because they were already focused on the butterflies and taking photos. And it was packed. Too packed. It was a weekday when we went, so can't imagine how packed it gets over the weekend. They need to rethink how to do better for the butterflies. I mean for the encounter to be in a "flower field" there weren't much flowers for the butterflies to rest on. Sad. Last time I visited was 2016. Would I visit again...I'm sure. For my love of flowers and bright spring colors, I will make it back again 2034. read more

How could you not love the flower fields? As a lifetime local, I love to come visit every few years to see the new blooms up close! I grew up coming here for field trips to learn about their flowers and growing process and loved every second of it! I'm so glad they still offer this program. Now, they offer even more at the flower fields with glass art installations with flowers, the butterfly enclosures, the strawberry shack, food stands, face painting, live music, etc. It's great for all ages alike and enough activities for the entire family! The flower fields are always breathtaking with their mixture of different color ranunculus flowers. I love seeing the mixed flowers (multiple colors in one row) and any rows of purple flowers. They grow the flowers around designated photo areas so you don't crush any flowers when taking photos. You can always go to other sections of the flower fields if the section at the entrance is busy as almost each row has an option for its own photo entrance. Be aware it does book out, so make sure to book your tickets for a designated time slot ahead of time online! Also parking is very scarce, so make sure to arrive about 20-30 minutes ahead of your selected time to find parking. It's all worth it! read more
What a breathtaking place to stroll and take in the beauty of San Diego (Carlsbad to us locals)! I would suggest going on a weekday afternoon to avoid the crowds of school tours and family weekends. You can easily spend 2-3+ hours there with all the different places to visit, aside from walking amongst the gorgeous flowers. The butterfly encounter was fun ($5/person) and the glass sculpture garden was a highlight. This nature spot that celebrates the start of Spring and ends on Mother's Day weekend is a unique San Diego gem. It's as iconic for the N. County residents as the Coronado Bridge is to the Downtown folks. read more

Had a great time here with family and the flowers were really beautiful! Got to see a dance performance by kids from a school too. The tractor ride is a fun ride to see the entire field. The USA flag was a little underwhelming because you need to be at a good height to see the pattern. The butterfly place inside was also fun and there were many different varieties of butterfly and we got to see so many up close and they come sit on you. Lots of food options were present and washrooms too. Would definitely recommend to start early as it gets crowded from the afternoon. There is plenty of parking space available too and you can buy tickets directly from the website or on the spot too. read more

Where do I start? Came to see the color variations as there is a huge field of a flower variety and all it's colors. Before getting to the field there is interactive and educational content that you can read, see, feel and hear. The dove enclosure, the butterfly cage and the orchid greenhouse was the most impressive. I didn't mention the poinsettia display of colors I never knew existed. Their website does say to bring a hat, wear sunscreen and wear closed toed shoes as walking by foot to the flower fields is on a dirt road. There are bees, I'd say duh! Don't wear fragrant perfume or lotion as you will attract bees! There is a food garden and a pop-up business from Leucadia I had a matcha latte, they had little boho stickers for $2.00 and the girls working were super cute and kind. As always I took ton of pictures... of flowers and me in the field. read more
it's spring time which means the flowers are starting to bloom! i've been seeing this place so many times on the internet so i decided to surprise my partner whose birthday is in march and is obsessed with flowers. tickets were $27 per person and parking is free. they do have other little activities that are extra and a good variety of snacks and food for you to enjoy. the flowers were absolutely beautiful! such a beautiful sight to see. get your sunscreen and comfortable clothes and shoes because you're in for a long time outside just walking. i do admire how careful they are with protecting and preserving the flowers. if only i didn't live 1.5 hours away i'd be here so much more often this season but there's always so many other years to come back. read more
We had a wonderful time at The Field of Flowers Yelp event on Thursday, the 27th of March!! Our group of six took our time chatting with vendors and absolutely enjoyed the conversations, foods, drinks, and desserts. All the attendees we spoke with were enjoying the event as well, and the Yelp folks were very accommodating, fun, and friendly. We will definitely have this on the social calendar for next year! This is a wonderful family fun event - I recommend going there early in the morning before the crowds come and you can see the sun peak through and warm up. Take the kids, get dressed and have some really cute. Amazing pictures. During the day it does get a little bit busy, but there are some photos up areas with the fields of flowers in the background. When it gets busy, there's a line so make sure you have your photographer or camera ready. There's always workers walking around to make sure you're not stepping on the flowers or getting in too deep of the fields - they are stickler about this I like that there's a butterfly area and there is a wagon ride for the kids - you could even buy flowers bulbs on your way out. If you forget, you can always order the flower bulbs online. Just remember, you have to book your tickets in advance for a timeslot to enter. Staff is very friendly. We can plan on 3 to 4 hours here easily if you want to take a ton of pictures. You can definitely do blueberry picking from end of March to May as well-separate ticket. Definitely recommend this near Mother's Day or Easter for some cute pictures. This is a great place to visit in Carlsbad from March to May. Make sure you purchase tickets online before you come. The Fields cover an area of fifty-five acres, so wear good shoes. They also have wagon tours for an additional $8 for adults and $4 for children. The flowers are absolutely beautiful. You can take very nice photos with such views. The flowers are clearly blocked off in some areas so people don't step on them, but there are designated areas with benches for photo opportunities. However, I did see two very annoying girls going over the line (these people can cause damage to the flowers!); they should be charged a fine! read more

When in Carlsbad , must see the The Flower Fields which run from March to May. Such a beautiful day to visit. Flowers were in bloom. Great walking exercises and so many varieties of flowers to take pictures. Wagon cost $8 per person drives you around this 50 acre field. Two stops and back to the entrance. Admission fee $25 per adult only booked on line. It's worth seeing the area and savor the beach fresh air. read more
I was surprised about the recent low Yelp reviews of the Flower Fields. I'm from the OC. I took my mom during opening week on a Saturday. I did my research ahead of time and purchased tickets online for the 9 am (opening) slot. YOU CANNOT PURCHASE TICKETS THERE!! It's $25 for seniors and $27 for regular adults. Not expensive. This was both of our first time and we freaking loved it! Keep in mind, not all the flowers are bloomed yet because this goes on until May. If everything was in bloom now they would die by then. But a good section is in bloom. I recommend going to the wagon first if that's what you're planning on doing. That's what we did at 9 am for $7 per person. It took us to the end where the bloomed flowers were. Mom and I had such a blast taking so many photos and videos. It was such a good day because the past few days had been raining but this day was sunny, clear and beautiful. The crowd was not insane at 9 am. As the day went on I can see why people complain because it did get crowded. I recommend going early and if you wait until later in the months it will get crowded and warmer. I would die walking in the sun in May. It's a great experience if you love flowers and love taking pictures. read more
Fun to stroll through beautiful flowers! At $27 per adult it can be steep but we had a good time. We weren't able to find any discounts. Expect to spend around 2hrs, just going through the different areas near the entrance then trekking through the flower fields. It was about 1/2 mile walk to the northwestern part where the flowers were in bloom March 2025. You can get up close in a few sections with benches. The tractor ride was recommended to see the fields but we needed a walk! We also grabbed kettle corn too which was a treat while walking and enjoying a clear day! Parking is free. Nearby is an outlet mall. read more

Fun fact: The flowers don't produce a smell so there are no bees and they are toxic to them. I learned this on the tour.

You'll have to go there and buy tickets. They extended the field passes until May 15th. If you call or leave a message, it's impossible to get ahold of anyone. I'm still waiting for a callback from March.

We took our stroller in and used it on the paths around the flowers. No one is allowed to wander into the fields themselves.

Yes, tons of people were sitting at the tables and benches, eating, talking, resting. Tip for kids: if your kids get tired of walking you can always pay extra for a tractor ride around the flower fields, and there is also a cool kids garden for them…
I try to buy tickets online for tomorrow 4/24 but it's sold out. I join the waiting list.. What are the chance of me getting the tickets? Does anyone know? I just drove from North Cal almost 8 hrs and my first activity was this place.
I don't know what the chances are, but if you go to Armada dr (above the flower fields) they have look out points directly over the flower fields.
If I buy tickets at a certain time so you think they will allow me to go a littler earlier that my slot time for that specific ticket?
Yes! Especially if theres nobody waiting. I bought tickets for 12pm but there was so much traffic the day that I went that I didn't get there until 2pm and they still let me in. As long as its not overly crowded, you're good.
Do children have to pay if so what ages?
Children under 3 are free. I think tickets are discounted for older children.
Are there places there open for snacks or drinks at this time inside?
There's a Strawberry shack that has Strawberry desserts, a lemonade stand, an ice cream stand and a pizza stand. Just FYI, they usually close/wrap-up about a half hour or so before the fields close.
