Giving this place 4/5 stars due to the $27 per ticket cost I hadn't visited the flower fields in probably over 5 years. The field is beautiful but I wouldn't say worth the $27 cost. I liked that they have food/drinks vendors.

Loved everything about this place! Expect to spend a couple hours here and get those steps in (shoes recommended). Online only to purchase tickets. Stamp activity for little ones to go around to the stations and stamp their "passports" which they can take to the mining station once completed and receive $1 off a mining experience. $5 to sift through a tin of dirt and get a couple rocks to take home. So many different areas to take pictures and grab a seat to rest. Not overly crowded, theres a store on the way out you can purchase flowers or any planting needs. Also note there is vendors ( kettle corn, ice cream, lemonade stand, cotton candy, agua frescas, hot dogs and so much more) and seating is never ending. Bathrooms are conveniently located throughout the walking trails as well as hand washing stations. This place is amazing!

The Flower Fields is one of those iconic must-visit spots in Carlsbad. Flower season is in the spring, so there's only a few months in a year where people can visit. Although tickets weren't the cheapest at $27 per adult, I thought it was well worth it. There's so much to see! With live music, flowers everywhere, a sweet pea maze, glass sculpture garden, orchid green house, and a massive field with rows and rows of ranunculus flowers, it took me a few hours to explore everything. The sunflower field are to the far right of the fields and was walkable. The tractor ride and butterfly encounter are a separate cost. If walking long distances is a concern, the tractor ride for $8 per person is a great option. The flower field is also connected to an Armstrong nursery for those who want to purchase some plants to bring home. Overall, I had a fantastic time here. I'd love to come back!

I absolutely love going to the Flower Fields. This is the 4th time we have gone. It's a beautiful place with rows of gorgeous flowers. They have the sea of sunflowers too if you go in the second half of the opening season. They have food trucks on site and lemon afe, popcorn and cotton candy. There are many spots for beautiful photo opportunities.

Socal's most beautiful flower farm! Located about a half mile from the 5 freeway in Carlsbad, on a little hill where the colorful flowers pop, and from the top have ocean views, it is always worth a visit. This time, a friend and I planned a tea day. 3 days a years (I believe all Saturdays), they offer high tea in the barn. This is an elevated ticket that must be purchased in advance but does include your entry to the flower fields. These tickets always sell out! At first we thought it was a bit pricey, but after spending the day at field, it was more than worth it. A visit to any local tea house is in the range of $50-$75 plus tip and tax & can even go up from there. The flower fields entry is $27. So, for $100, it felt like a steal! First off, the Tea experience was wonderful. It was definitely more casual with less people dressing up. It was very well organized! The staff was fantastic and very attentive. The tables were beautifully set with matching tea sets. Keep in mind, a local tea house is the partner and brings in all the table settings, food, and staff for the event. We would definitely do this again! We left the sitting satisfied, but the portions could have been a bit bigger. (Ie: and extra sandwich and/or scones per person) After a lovely meal, we spent hours in the fields. First up, a tractor ride ($8 ticket). I had never done this before and it's an absolute must. Why? The fields are way bigger than I thought. Without the tractor ride, we never would have seen the sunflowers or found out they have Monday blueberry picking. There is also live entertainment, food vendors, items for purchase, butterfly farm (extra $8 ticket), and the list goes on. So many picture perfect spots! By far, this was my best experience at the fields as my friend and I spend about 6 hours total. So, for the price of the tea ticket, we definitely got our monies worth, plus tons of beautiful pictures.

*** 2026 Season - March 1, 2026 to May 10, 2026 *** It has been more than a decade since my last visit and it is as popular as ever. [Parking]: Free parking, but expect a packed parking lot. [Admission]: $27 per adult. Tickets must be purchased online before arrival and I was able to purchase tickets on the spot via my smartphone. [Activities]: Activities haven't changed much since my last visit a decade ago. *** Lookout area *** Expect waiting lines to take pictures with the colorful ranunculus flower fields. I would recommend paying for and taking the tractor wagon ride as it goes around the field and drops you off on the other side which is less crowded for taking better pictures. *** Sunflower field (expect full bloom in mid-April *** The field is on the opposite side of the entrance and it is worth seeing. I highly recommend taking the tractor rather than walking. *** Antique Tractor Wagon Ride ($8 for 11 years & up, $4 for 3-10 years old, and free for 0-2 years old; payment is made before the standby line) *** The tractor takes visitors around the Flower Fields AND the sunflower field. Highly recommended to pay for the tractor as it saved our party time and energy. *** Stamp Passport *** Visitors can ask for a stamp passport and get stamps at eight different stations. Once the passport is completed, visitors can receive $1 off at the Sluice Mining Attraction. *** Sculpture Garden / Don Miller's Garden / Fountain Garden / Demonstration Garden / Orchid Greenhouse / Historic Poinsettia Display *** Many spots to take photos with beautiful flowers. There are also 2 giant chairs at Illusion Garden. *** Main stage *** Live performances and check the website for a list of entertainment and performance events. *** Sweet peas maze *** The maze wasn't too difficult to navigate, but expect some frustration from looping around the maze. *** Butterfly Encounter ($8 for 11 years & up, $4 for 3-10 years old, and free for 0-2 years old; payment is made before the standby line) *** A greenhouse filled with hundreds of live butterflies. *** Pop-Up Market / Strawberry Shack *** Various snacks and bites with a new weekly vendor (check the website to see which vendor). The Strawberry Shack is home of the famous strawberry shake and Dole Whip. *** U-pick blueberries *** Check The Flower Fields' social media for updates on when picking will be available. [Conclusion]: Our party ended up staying for approximately two hours and this is certainly one of those places worth checking out for those visiting San Diego for the first time. Personally this is probably a once-in-a-decade visit for me.

I came here once and was amazed by how beautiful and huge it was -- there's so much to see that one visit definitely isn't enough. It is a bit expensive, but the colorful flowers and scenery make it worth experiencing at least once. It's also conveniently close to the Carlsbad outlets. They recently had a Yelp event there, and if I didn't live 6 hours away, I would've loved to see it at night too. But even during the day, it's absolutely gorgeous.

This place is magical! The flowers are just amazing like walking through a rainbow so many rows and rows and they just go for days and days... I went on a Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM and it was perfect time. I spent about four hours there walking around looking at all the really cool displays going in with the butterfly habitat just sitting and listening to the birds. There's a lot of little benches everywhere you can go and sit and then I got on the tractor ride that was eight dollars and worth it because they take you kind of far up the farm to see the sunflower fields and you can get off and get back on and there was a field of lavender. It's just beautiful. Highly recommend going here and just taking pictures walking around and just taking in the day. You can also see the ocean from the flower fields as well. It's just kind of hard to explain how beautiful it is. When you leave, you also go through a giant nursery, and you can buy flowers for the way home!

I really love the Flower Fields at Carlsbad. They have ample parking spots. The staff are very sweet, friendly and genuinely warm. Once I arrive at this place, I feel that I am walking in a magic land surrounded by breathtaking and colorful flowers. It is endless beauty. The field is about fifty acres. . The visit usually starts in the beginning of March and ends on the second week of May. We purchased our tickets online. It included wagon rides and parking. The ticket for the butterfly encounter was not included. You will find many nice food vendors around if you are hungry. There were pizza place, hotdog, tacos, burritos, cotton candy, ice cream, popcorn and more. There are also numerous seating around the field if you are tired. The field is a unique agricultural experience. It is really a great place to relax, and get surrounded by heavenly flowers. Every time I go there, I wish I could stay longer or come more frequent. We had such a wonderful and joyful time.

Such a beautiful place. Yes, it can get very crowded, but that's to be expected since the season doesn't last all year. I know so many long time SD residents who've never been. You should go! I've been there on a weekend and parking can be tough. They have a new paid parking option that gets you in the back way. Might be worth it if you don't want the hassle of fighting for a parking spot. Go during the week if you can. Parking is easier and lines for photo ops are shorter. Pay the extra $8 for the tractor ride. It loops around and you can hop on and off at every stop. We rode around a complete loop just before we ended our visit. A recording plays that gives you the history of the farm. The flowers were absolute beautiful. The ranunculus were so vibrant. There is also a sunflower patch. There's so much more than just the fields. There are poinsettia displays, a sweet pea maze, an aviary, beautiful stained glass garden, an orchid greenhouse. So much to do!

    Joan W.

It's a huge field of flowers! 55 acres of rows of different colors of ranunculus flowers to be exact. It's definitely a San Diego spring staple. The window of opening is small. March-early May. Put it on your calendar because that time goes fast and then it's closed. Besides the flowers there are other attractions like a butterfly pavilion, maze, and food stands. If you want a quiet time to relax by looking at a beautiful field of flowers you won't get that experience, at least not on a weekend. The weekend is busy with lots of visitors which can be fun but it's also a rough time to find parking and it can get overwhelming with all the people focused so intently on Instagram photos and not respecting the boundary ropes set up. There are a couple of places where you can go further in the fields to get that photo that makes you look like you are in the middle of the field but those tended to have a bit of a line.

    Vanessa T.

The Flower Fields in Carlsbad has been one of my favorite seasonal attractions for several years now. As the age of social media grows, The Flower Fields have adapted. Offering more Instagram-able photo-ops: a glass installation, a butterfly bench, deliberately placed back-drops. Aside from the crowds and fighting the line for a picture, the fields are still as impressive and well-maintained as ever. I'd recommend you reserve your time-slot in advance. They do offer a military discount online. Your visit would be best made earlier in the season. Flowers do start to dwindle, and the orchids go brown in the last few weeks. I wish I'd paid extra ($8) for the butterfly exhibit, but it didn't seem worth the time in line. Keep an eye on the site for the live performance schedule. Decent vendors each year. Plenty to do. The Flower Fields will keep anybody of any age entertained for hours, if you do it right. Don't forget to pack your camera and sunscreen!

The Flower Fields Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - The Flower Fields

Is it ok to use or bring umbrella?

Yes, it's okay to bring an umbrella to walk around with to protect yourself from the sun

Are 11-17 years of age considered adults when buying tickets?

Hi Joyce! Our children's tickets are for ages 3-10 so ages 11-17 need to purchase the adults ticket.

If I bring my own lunch, will they make me toss it?

Never tried that myself. When you enter they do check your bags. I'd be surprised if they asked you to throw it away.

Is there a lot of bees at all times?

Fun fact: The flowers don't produce a smell so there are no bees and they are toxic to them. I learned this on the tour.

What's on the menu for the Tea in the Garden package? I saw 1 picture posted but the menu is blurred. Just curious if it is worth the $78 price tag. Thank you

How do you get tickets? Their website confusing and sucks

You'll have to go there and buy tickets. They extended the field passes until May 15th. If you call or leave a message, it's impossible to get ahold of anyone. I'm still waiting for a callback from March.

    Are you guys allowing dogs?

It's best to call them directly.

Are canvas wagons for kids allowed inside?

    Yes!

Are there restrooms and changing station or only portal potties?

    There are regular restrooms

Can we take strollers inside the field? Are there any signs which says not to pick flowers. I just wanted to confirm it before i plan to go as my 22 month old is super active and goes crazy for flowers.

We took our stroller in and used it on the paths around the flowers. No one is allowed to wander into the fields themselves.

Is this a great place for engagement photos? (1 photographer w/ a couple?) The schedule time seems to be at 4pm-6pm (on a friday). Have you noticed how difficult/easy it is for a photographer to take a picture here or is it too difficult to do it her

I actually did see couples and individuals getting professional photos done when I came last week! I think it would be a lovely place to do it.

    Service animals are allowed,correct?

    Yes! Only Service animals

With COVID, are people allowed to picnic at the benches right now? Also, any tips or suggestions for a family with a 1 year old and 5 year old? Thanks in advance!

Yes, tons of people were sitting at the tables and benches, eating, talking, resting. Tip for kids: if your kids get tired of walking you can always pay extra for a tractor ride around the flower fields, and there is also a cool kids garden for them… Read more

I try to buy tickets online for tomorrow 4/24 but it's sold out. I join the waiting list.. What are the chance of me getting the tickets? Does anyone know? I just drove from North Cal almost 8 hrs and my first activity was this place.

I don't know what the chances are, but if you go to Armada dr (above the flower fields) they have look out points directly over the flower fields.

    Are small dogs allowed?

    No dogs allowed

If I buy tickets at a certain time so you think they will allow me to go a littler earlier that my slot time for that specific ticket?

Yes! Especially if theres nobody waiting. I bought tickets for 12pm but there was so much traffic the day that I went that I didn't get there until 2pm and they still let me in. As long as its not overly crowded, you're good.

Do children have to pay if so what ages?

Children under 3 are free. I think tickets are discounted for older children.

Will you be open on Easter?

    Yes!

Are there places there open for snacks or drinks at this time inside?

There's a Strawberry shack that has Strawberry desserts, a lemonade stand, an ice cream stand and a pizza stand. Just FYI, they usually close/wrap-up about a half hour or so before the fields close.

    Is this place stroller friendly?

Its semi stroller friendly. There are a few paved areas but mostly it's walking amongst the fields which are dirt. You can take the optional tractor that drives along the fields. Hope that helps.

It's more of a make-your-own-spot situation on a dusty lot, but it wasn't too bad overall we were still able to find a space without too much trouble. Cons: The parking setup can be a little tricky, especially if you have a bigger car like an SUV since you kind of have to squeeze into spaces. Also, the farm ride is definitely more kid-oriented, so just keep that in mind if you're expecting something more adult-focused. I also wish the brewery operated more like a full bar setting, but it was still nice to try the beers. Verdict: If you're looking for something different and a little more interactive, this is a really fun spot to check out. It's great for a casual day outdoors, especially if you want a mix of activities, animals, and drinks. I'd definitely come back and would be interested in trying the restaurant there next time!

The Woodshed ended up being an awesome space for it and we couldn't recommend it enough. First off, Anndrea was a pleasure to work with. She toured the venue with us, answering all of our questions the day of and afterwards. She was quick to respond and very friendly throughout the entire time. Shoutout to Tiffany as well, who was able to help us out on the day of the event, and helped to bar tend. The venue itself is also such a fun space, with fun accents, such as the live plant wall and the fun tap handles. We created a Spotify playlist that we were able to play using the venue speakers, and we even used the projector screen that they had to play our Nintendo Switch games during the welcome party. Street parking was plentiful and our guests ended up loving the venue as well. We would highly recommend the Woodshed for anyone looking for a fun space to host a gathering or party!

From day one, she made us feel so confident, cared for, and completely at ease. Maddy (Megan's assistant) was just as incredible -- the two of them together are an absolute dream team. Even when we sadly got rained in, Megan and Maddy went above and beyond to create the most beautiful, graceful indoor setup. We completely forgot about the weather because everything inside was so stunning. The food was incredible, the communication was seamless, and every detail felt next level. On top of that, we had to make some last-minute modifications due to my dad's health, which understandably brought a lot of stress and big emotions. We are beyond grateful for Megan, Maddy, and the entire team at The Crossings. They made our wedding day feel effortless, deeply personal, and unforgettable. We could not recommend them more.
