Don't let the friendliness and personable persona fool you...they're crooks. We hired them to install LVP throughout our entire house and was initially pleased. In the beginning, they told us that we had to have the LVP acclimate to the climate of our home, but they went back on this saying the flooring we purchased did not need to acclimate. However, before they finished we noticed a piece of flooring starting to break in front of our oven in our kitchen and noticed that the flooring wasn't laying down completely flat in all the doorways. They replaced the broken piece and assured us that the places that were lifting will eventually settle. They promised that we wouldn't have any issues and reminded us of the 1 year warranty they have.
Fast forward several months and we start to notice several places in our kitchen and one place in a bedroom starting to break off at the seams. I gave it several more months to see if it worsened or if I needed to reach out the The Floor Guys again. Life got in the way and prevented me from reaching out to them sooner than I would have liked, but I did eventually contact them within our 1 year warranty to let them know of the issues we were having. They had us send pictures and immediately scheduled to come out and assess the issue. There was a bit of back and forth about them coming to our house as they had reported they were sick with COVID and other dramatics, but they did eventually come.
They were quick to brag about the new, fancy moisture detector they purchased just for the purpose of assessing our concerns. Low and behold, they "discovered" moisture on their sensor machine and accused us of having a major leak in our house causing the issue. We attempted to tell them that we had no leak in our home and asked why they weren't measuring the moisture levels in other parts of the house before saying they knew this was the reason for the broken floor. Only at our urging did they start
"measuring" other surfaces and rooms in the house with only a slight difference. Knowing little about moisture sensors, my husband and I didn't believe they were using them right, especially since they had told me multiple times that they had specially purchased this machine just for assessing our house.
We kept questioning that this was the issue since we had initially had the same thing happen (and they had replaced) immediately after the installation.
Only after they saw we weren't accepting their explanation, they stated they could reach out to the flooring manufacturer to have an independent person come and assess the flooring to get their opinion. We of course took them up on this and The Floor Guy initiated this and a few weeks later I was contacted by this independent person to look at our floors.
He ended up doing a moisture reading in every room of the house and told us it wasn't a moisture problem, assessed how the flooring was laid, and asked us numerous questions about preparations on laying the floor, including if the flooring was acclimated. He was here for over an out and stated that he was not impressed with the craftsmanship of installation. This person would not give us his official opinion/results and after several months of not hearing from him or The Floor Guy about the findings, I eventually reached out The Floor Guy to see what they knew. They had no clue and no updates and asked why we never heard more from the independent person evaluating the floor. I explained that I had reached out to him and he referred me to them (The Floor Guy) but I never heard anything. They then fumbled around while talking on the phone and asked if I had received their email they forwarded and I told them that I had not received any email. I searched my inbox while on the phone with them and assured them that they had not sent me anything. I asked that they forward this email they were talking about but they never did.
The Floor Guy said they will play middle man and get more details and would be in touch. Several weeks have went by and they still have not followed up with me. I have texted them 3 times asking for updates and no response. My final text was stating that I will start spreading word that they were not upholding their warranty and I still did not hear back.
At this point, I guess I'm cutting my losses on getting the flooring fixed and now I just want to make sure no one else trusts them with their flooring needs. read more
