We were booked into the inn by a client who wanted to make our first visit to Suffolk a memorable one. The home is a true Southern belle - a grand dame of historic mansions. It has been so lovingly restored and is perfectly appointed. We had so much fun exploring every inch of the home and absorbing its character. The proprietor (and very talented chef) Ruth has mastered the art of hospitality, inviting us to truly make the home our own. She didn't mind one bit that we planted ourselves in the reclining leather chairs in the stately octagonal library with another couple and yakked enthusiastically until the wee hours. After a blissful night sleep, breakfast the following morning was a marvelous affair. We prepped a coffee for ourselves at the Nespresso machine (fantastic!) and meandered around the grounds until the heavenly smell of baking croissants lured us to the elegant, light-filled breakfast room. Usually an eat-and-run proposition for us, we lingered for over an hour enjoying the delectable food and the conversation with the other guests. The charm of the house and its gracious owner had worked its magic - we were refreshed, satiated and inspired. We departed with great reluctance but the spirit of the Truitt house hung about us for the rest of the day and onto the next as we traveled home. This place has that without losing its original charm from 1909. Because I'm here for work, I'm purposely spending all my time at the house when not on location and I love to be able to move from study to library to the atrium and other rooms in order to read and for a change of atmosphere. Every room is unique and has a story. You'll love Ruth who will make your stay feel like you've come home to the family estate. Breakfast is made to order and she loves knowing what you like. The Shine Suite, with a queen size bed and a twin bed, was perfect for me, my husband and our 14 year old. The room was spacious and also had it's own sitting room and large bathroom. The sitting room had tons of cookbooks which I love to browse through. Nell was so sweet and friendly and made us a great breakfast at the time we requested. The price could not be beat. Only negative was the wonky shower faucet but there was plenty of hot water. It was just hard to regulate. If we're ever in the area again we'll stay here!

Very run down houses, very desolate town. But, when you pull into the driveway of this house, you totally forget where you are and only focus on the huge house with the inviting front porch and bright, red door. We have never stayed at a B&B before, so we weren't sure of the protocols, so we just walked on inside and started looking around. The house is old and southern, and that is exactly what I expected. There is a huge sitting room, and a very cozy den/study that has a nice TV, leather couch, huge leather chair, desk, fridge, and thousands of books. The dining room is also cozy, and the kitchen is small but nice, but not really part of the guest experience. The real stunner is when you open the back door and see the huge porch, and gorgeous yard and gardens. A little slice of heaven in tiny Enfield. Suzann, the owner, was in the kitchen when we arrived, and she came out to greet us with huge smile on her face. She started showing us around, and led us upstairs to our room for the weekend - a very good sized room with a very nice bathroom, and a comfy, soft bed with amazingly soft sheets. The upstairs also has a huge deck so you can enjoy the view of the gardens from there too. Breakfast both mornings was delightful, and you can really taste the love and care that goes into Suzann and Wayne's cooking. The first day we had yogurt parfait, an egg fritatta, bacon, sausage, and fresh baked biscuits. All were great, but the biscuits were the star....so good!!!! The second day we started out with the yogurt parfait again, then baked apples, bacon, and strawberry lemon pancakes.....heaven! I am not a huge fan of baked apples since I despise cinamon, but these were not overloaded with cinnamon at all, and were not overcooked. This woman can cook!! Overall, I highly recommend coming here for a weekend getaway if you live within an hours drive. There is a nice State Park near by, and a very cool Waterfowl park, but other than that, not much going on within 50 miles. But, to get away and relax in a beautiful home with wonderful service, and being forced to really take everything slow and just enjoy nature and your partner is a blessing. I cannot conclude this review without mentioning Cozy. Cozy happens to be the word's sweetest golden retriever alive, and he will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside the whole weekend. He is so well behaved and loving, and I am pretty sure he knows his job is to give love to all guests so they feel right at home. Love that dog!

They do not cook a full breakfast in the mornings but there were bagles cream, cheese, other pastries, coffee, tea, and juice for us in the morning. We never ran into the owner until just before leaving on the second day, but felt at home the whole time. We will definitly be back again the next time we are in the area, it is definitley a home away from home kind of place and was a great value for quality of accomodations.
