When we went to an automotive chain store, they installed 5-, 6-, and 15-year-old "new" tires! But we didn't realize this until 20 months later, when we started having issues with the tires. SimplyTire was just as angry as we were at the situation. They highlighted the dangers of such old tires: the rubber breaks down and the risk of a slow leak or blow out increases drastically. This posed a danger to us, as well as others on the road! Thank goodness my dad doesn't drive on the highway. SimplyTire installed tires manufactured less than 5 months prior, and showed us the DOT and date code for each tire! They were considerate of our time and our situation. Today when I change winter time, my mechanic noticed one of the wheel is obviously different from the other three (has different # of holes), which will cause safety issue if the different wheel has a different offset. I did experienced car swerving issues last winter on some type of highway road (e.g. if on grooved surface) after the change of winter tire. Thought it was the winter tire but now it is clear the different rim could very much be the reason. Called simplytire and their attitude was rude. Blamed me why I didn't notice it after the change last year instead of reflecting on the reckless work their shop worker mixing different Rims and putting customers in danger potentially. Said they don't care about any negative review new customs will come anyway...Has been a loyal customer with them for more than 15 years ever since Allen worked there and did the annual redflagdeals sale... The ship or wheelhouse is located in an industrial zone in a free standing building that looks more like an office space then a tire or shop space ..there office space was very professionally set up nothing like you would expect from a tire shop but more in line with a tech company. I arrived early at 12:45 and receptionist asked me to have s seat in there lounge (waiting area) they seemed to be following all Covid protocols. After 30 minutes waiting I approached the receptionist again and asked if she had forgot about me and that my apointment was att 1pm . Her english was very poor hard to understand and not sure how much she understood me to be honest , not the best person to work your reception greeting and managing your front line customers ...anyways after approaching her she said she would be right with me . I sat for another 15 minutes and she finally approached me and had my order confused from a tire rotation instead of tire purchase what I actually required . After the confusion was settled they finally took my car into shop for the tire change ..they did the tire change fairly quickly about 15 minutes . Had the front/rear rotors & pads done on my 2009 Odyssey back in July 2022 for approx $700. Ivan…read moresaid he used Akebono coated parts which are suppose to be a premium product that I've used in my other vehicle with excellent results. The following spring, with only 10k km on these rotors/pads, I started to notice brake performance decline with it not really biting and needing to apply a lot more pedal pressure to stop properly. Brought it back for Ivan to inspect. He said rotors had a lot of rust, however, they were all suppose to be coated which greatly increases the time for rust to form. So, for rust form so quickly and so severe to affect performance in just 8 months and with only 10K Km since install....that just doesn't add up and Ivan wasn't able or willing to offer anything (possible defective warranty etc) other than to resurface them for an extra $100-200. That really didn't make any difference. So, I ended up going back to my regular guru who replaced all the pads with Power Stop shortly after. Fixed it and it was 100% better. Not sure if the issue was with the parts, the installer or a bit of both. Things just didn't make much sense to me and Ivan wasn't really taking any initiative or making any effort help me other than charging extra to hopefully remedy my issues. Lesson learned...Will keep to my guru from now on.
