The Fish House is my favorite fried fish ever, and no matter how many years I have been coming here, the quality never dips! I love the vibes: outside, picnic tables, summer heat. The service is always friendly and the food is truly made to order because it comes out steaming, burn your mouth hot every time! It's always cooked to perfection. It never disappoints. I have recently been getting the hogfish and shrimp combo, and I'm obsessed. Even after years of living in FL, I had never tried hogfish. One day, a couple months ago, I went for it. Light, perfect texture, flaky, mild, and sweet. The Fish House lightly breads everything in the most delicate way. I've always loved this place, but this fish somehow elevated my love of this spot! I feel like I never talk about how amazing their cornbread is. Light and airy with the perfect touch of sweetness. Either way, I'm clearly a fan. They have limited hours, so check their hours before you go. read more

Julian and her staff are outstanding! Such a great contributor to the community. We love the fish house.

Delicious fresh fish ! Absolutely every fish we had was outstanding! Perfectly fried, cero oil , nice classic taste , shrimps combos are good but the fish plates dinners large are bigger in portion . Snapper and hogfish wow You get definitely more fish . The sandwich is big enough, nice portions , grouper was very rich 4 or 5 pieces of fillet inside . The cornbread was also great homemade flavor fresh spongy soft moist bread just wish it was bigger:) New England clam chowder was to die for! Very unique recipe creamy and rich like a dip . Great quick service at the window they are easy to order and explain the menu , give you a ticket number to wait for your order , have a huge bench there to sit and enjoy the show around you lovely beach fish camp ambiance, on the side of the road, picnic tables with umbrellas shaded area , extremely clean and organized looking spotless! No bugs ! No flies no fishy smell ! Just amazing ! read more

The seafood was fried to perfection. My only complain is there was seasoning in anything.. the baked beans taste like canned pork-n-beans. Everything was cooked fresh and only about 10ish minutes to get food. There is no indoor seating. Food was not greasy which was a huge plus. read more

Great food! Seafood boil was fantastic! We would definitely visit again. Great service.

How is fresh and flavorful. The clam chowder is the best in the area. I wish it was closer, I'd eat there more often.

I am a hugh cook, and this is the best fried fish around Tampa. Not cheap but great quality. The oil is the most impotrant thing in any restaurant and The Fish House is fresh and never burnt or old tasting. It is a light not greasy fish coating, without a heavy batter. Enjoy, never had a bad meal. read more

Friendly staff. Overheard the owner telling her story of how she obtained the shop. Very interesting. Glad I stopped by. Happy to finally find a fish & chips spot that's affordable & good. Hard to find a decent fish spot in the Bay Area (weird)! Food was good. I got the clam chowder and also the fish & shrimp combo w grits. The soup was soooo good. I wish they had a larger size! An amazing staple in the Ruskin and Apollo Beach area. We love the freshness of the products along with the always consistent customer service! You can get pretty much any seafood you're craving at a great and reasonable price here! I have a picture of my whole mullet on my photos but it was soooo good and brought me back to my childhood! The oysters and shrimp was seasoned perfectly so we also appreciated that! If you're in the area, make it a point to stop by and get some great food! read more

We loved everything about Tge Fish House. Everything was fresh and delicious. We went back everyday they were open.

Food was exemplary and for coming from such a small kitchen I was blown away by the speed of service. I ordered a "soup of the day" (lobster bisque). It was creamy and delicate. I also ordered the soft shell crab combo with catfish to accompany it. The small size was a fairly large portion. The batter was light and tasty. I enjoyed both, but the soft shell crab was the star of the show. They have free refills! I recommend the sweet tea. It was delicious. Was skeptical, outdoor... order and sit at a bench (we're obviously out of towners). Places like this are often just heavy deep fried gut bombs. So happy we drove here and got over our reservations. Absolutely delicious grouper sandwich. Got a sampler platter as well. Instead of heavy and greasy. It was light, and so flavorful. No doubt this is a new staple when we come down to the area. Also, really want to thank the staff for being helpful and offer suggestions. All the ladies working were very friendly and helpful. read more

As an 18 year pescatarian, I am always on the look out for seafood restaurants. I decided to stop by The Fish House on a Thursday evening. The restaurant is a small hut like building with an overhead cover. There are plenty of spaces to park in the large dirt parking lot. But be sure to not come after a car wash. Upon my arrival there were 2 people in line waiting to place their order and 3-4 parties were seated waiting to receive their order. After scanning the menu, I decided to select the Basa & Shrimp Combo which came with two sides. I selected the fries and coleslaw. The total cost of the meal was just over $16. The order came with 4 pieces of fish and 10 shrimp. The fish portions were very small, essentially they equated to 1 or 1 and a quarter pieces of fish in total. The fish was fried decently however, it was as if no seasoning was utilized during the preparation process. I ended up adding 2 or 3 condiments to the fish to add a bit of flavor. It appears that my search continues to find a go-to seafood restaurant. read more

If you like all things deep fried you'll enjoy the food here. We were pretty sure the food would be good when we saw the place filled with locals & they were waiting in line to get their food - 30 minutes no less. We got the soft shelled crabs & the platter. The BASA fish was cooked well but didn't have much flavor - the oysters & shrimp were flavorful & cooked perfectly but the scallops were the small ones giving you basically a small bite. Soft shell crabs were very tasty! We weren't looking for eat in but wanted fish/seafood & this place fit the bill. Better than burgers in the snow. read more

This place has been on my list to try for about a year, but my family and I finally had time today. Since moving down to Tampa from Virginia, I have been on the prowl for a great seafood place. With the Tampa area being right by the water, I have tried a great deal of seafood restaurants that have just been down right bad to meh. They either are not fresh, mediocre, overpriced, or a combination of these. The Fish House blew my expectations out of the water and has given me some hope that I just need to look harder for gems like it. There is no inside seating but ample space outside. Luckily, it was breezy and sunny so we did not mind. The place was actually a bit packed and had a good sized line, which we discovered was usual for this time of day around lunch. The staff (I believe it was the owner?) was extremely friendly and made sure everyone knew what the wait time would be before and while in line so no one was disgruntled, which is rare around here. When ordering, she explained what the fresh catches were and what she recommended based off of what we were looking for. I got a great deal of food for $40, which was honestly cheaper than I expected from my previous seafood experiences in other places in the area. After about 25 minutes, we had our food and everything was fresh. I will repeat that again, EVERYTHING was fresh. We ordered the shrimp dinner, basa fish sandwich, catfish sandwich, baked beans, and fries. The shrimp were a 10/10 and extremely light and perfectly fried. I am extremely picky with eating fish not made by someone I know, so i was delighted to have liked both of the fish sandwiches. My wife, who will literally throw something fresh away if it is not good, cleaned both her shrimp and fish sandwich plates. I followed suit and did the same. Everything tasted fresh and was not heavy, which is rare for fried food. I have finally found my go-to seafood spot, and it was 10 minutes away this entire time!!! read more

Always a great meal with the friendliest owner and her team! A lot of the items are fried but don't have a greasy taste. There are so many great options to choose from: shrimp, soft shell crab, oysters, different fish, etc. read more

This place is so good, and so popular. You really will need to be patient about being seated. I don't even think you can make a reservation. They are always so busy. And yet after the first hurricane Helena, and then again after Milton, they still somehow managed to spend the time and energy to help people in need with food, water, and cleaning supplies while dealing with trying to run business as usual. I was so impressed, this time I wasn't there as a customer but as someone in need. And was just very impressed at how much they helped all of us, their community ,while still doing business as usual. Very good people, running a very good business. It is so sad that, that has become as rare as it is now. But I sure appreciate them. read more

This is probably the best seafood restaurants in the Tampa area. The food is delicious and that is because the owner only uses limited quantities of the freshest food. If you want to make sure you get something on the menu get there early. Service is fast but you meal is prepared after you order. They don't precooked and have food sitting under heat lamps. I had their catfish basket which was 8 pieces of catfish, fries and cole slaw. It was absolutely delicious. The food is fried but their secret is to lightly batter it so you can still taste the seafood. They also fresh brew the best sweet tea and have free refills. read more

They're back. Stopped for lunch today and loved the new look. The tables were refinished and white shells on the floor. They have bounced back from the hurricane. His catfish sandwich was hot and crispy. My shrimp was perfect. It was hot from the fryer, the fries too. The service was quick and friendly. They know many of their customers by name. You won't be disappointed. read more

Finally made it to The Fish House. Staff were friendly and working hard. They are understaffed due to the economic conditions. We got our food in less than 10 minutes. The food was very good. I had the grouper sandwich, sides of cole slaw and fries. My wife shared these and had the green beans. She loved them as they were fresh and homemade. I also had the NE clam chowder as an appetizer. It was hot and delicious and I saw real clam pieces. Total bill was about $28. We ate outside under the cover awning. It was windy but that made it comfortable. There were no issues with insects (as others pointed out), and all was clean and in order. This is a safe place if you have COVID worries. We will go back. read more
