Tonight we tried something different! Sumo wrestling and sushi at The Fields complex (shows Sumo and Sushi).
The location is in a somewhat rough neighborhood. So the $25 parking fee at the venue may be worth it even if there was plenty of of street parking. The venue looks like a decorated old warehouse. Kind of cool. Felt like I was going into an underground pit fight in a Jean Claude Van Dam movie lol!
Once you get to the venue, it is a little disorganized. Mass confusion of which lines to stand in. Good thing is the bar stands had tons of bartenders with small lines.
Once sat, we noticed we were 2nd row. 1st row premium prices is not worth it. There isn't a bad seat in the house. The alcohol is expensive. $100 for 2 sake and 2 diet cokes.
The show starts with a the MC, a professional Sumo wrestler, teaching you the ins and outs of Sumo wrestling. I learned a lot! The flexibility and balance is incredible in these huge guys!!! After the demonstrations on drills and exercise demonstrations the tourny started. They were awesome! You quickly learn strength of the huge guys can be beat by much smaller and faster wrestlers. The production was very very well done.
The sushi was good but the rice was a little dry and fell apart. Over all the whole experience was AWESOME!!!if you have a chance check out this show but don't pay the upgrade fees. It doesn't seem worth it. Just be ready to pay high prices for drinks. read more
