Working away from home I was in need of a bite to eat and the first place I came to was the Ferry Boat. Excellent, I thought, a bit of pub grub always goes down well. So, in I went and was greeted by a fairly standard pub scene with a bit of olde world charm and a nice patio seating area out back. I took a seat and looked at the menu then I got up off the floor, took my seat again wondered whether I could afford to eat here (I am, after all, a Yorkshireman)
I decided that I should treat myself and ordered the main and starter from the Sunday offer. To start with I went for Salt and Pepper squid which was tasty but not over familiar with the salt and pepper, it wasn't a massive portion.
I went for Roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, cabbage and seasonal vegetables which was reasonable (the roast potatoes were delicious). Although the beef was a little fatty and in short supply it was cooked to perfection.
There was table service and my server was attentive but not intrusive. In conclusion, the only thing that made this meal stand out from the many Sunday carveries was the price. read more
