I visited this pub for lunch on Tuesday, with my parents and sister after reading the review in the Echo. We were firstly a little bit disappointed with the fake grass and plants outside the pub, it felt like we had come for a round of crazy golf rather than to eat. Anyhow, we continued with our visit, sitting outside in the sun. We were very disappointed with the lack of vegetarian options for my sister, a choice of cheese and onion baguette or salad was all that was on offer and when we asked if we could have something else, the reply was that there was nothing else prepped. However, we ordered 2 steak and ale pies, a cheese and onion baguette and lasagne, waiting over 45 minutes, which I felt was unacceptable. It didn't help that I saw the 'chef' coming outside and into what looked like a shed, and exiting with a baguette (which I presume was for our meal!) We found the steak in the pie to be mostly gristle, the lasagne very water logged, and the cheese and onion baguette to be lacking cheese, and to say we were paying nearly £7 for it, was disgraceful. Unfortunately,we were short of time after having waited so long, so we left in a hurry, £40 lighter and very dissatisfied. I work in hospitality myself and if I were foolish enough to produce such food, I would want to be told, hence this review. I only hope that this menu is improved dramatically before you lose anymore custom. The one star I have given for the 2 waiting staff that were polite, if nothing else. read more
