(Children allowed if supervised) food is served until 7pm. A quiz is held weekly on a Monday with free food served whilst answers are checked. Staff are friendly and happy to help. The other is over a little bridge across the river and in though The Haven Mill. The pub is a part of the old mill and has a kind of industrial building feel to it with metal girders and a wooden terrace overlooking the river. Great for sitting out on in summer but the river can be a bit smelly in hot weather. It is L shaped and bands set up in a corner. Good music from Blues and Folk to acoustic nights, open mike and general. A mix of ages in the clientel. Good food to be had here and the drinks are well priced. The staff can be a little rude sometimes though. A great place for atmosphere and good music.

I did have some decent meals there though..usually 2 meals for £6 or something. However having lived in the south for a year I almost fell over when I was asked for £1.35 for my pint of real ale last weekend. There is always a good selection of ales. It was quiet and they allowed my friends 16 year old daughter to sit with us while we had a drink. The Yarborough was owned by Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway Company and, eventually, by the LNER. After the Second World War, the British Transport Commission owned it. In 1951, it was bought by a brewery from Hull. In 1960, it was nearly demolished. The hotel, which is a symbol of the town's transition from an 18th-century fishing village into a great Victorian port, is now a listed building. It is one of the town's best-known landmarks . It was purpose-built in the mid 19th century (1851) to serve Grimsby's first railway. The hotel took its name from the second Earl of Yarborough, who was a director of the railway company and lived at nearby Brocklesby. Mostly DJ's but occasionally live music and Rock Nights with bands. The dance floor is not huge and usually packed. It bounces too especially when groups of Goths in New Rocks are jumping around. This is the third floor too. Not designed for the disabled as lots of steep stairs to the free cloakroom and ticket office. Loud, friendly and jumping this is an established place having been there around 25 years or more and just as popular now as it always was. Drinks and cocktails are reasonably priced. Plenty of room to circulate if you are good at pushing. The long bar can involve a wait or misheard orders but not much of a problem. One corner used to be called Goth Corner as it was where they all congregated but now the students seem to have discovered it too. You can often find a seat there or else you will stand. Once upon a time you always stuck to the bar floor but they seem to have solved that problem. A shame as it was famous for it. A good night out but your ears will ring for hours.

I was told that it is currently being built up into a real ale pub with background music allowing us older folks the pleasure to go somewhere and have a decent pint in decent surroundings. You can have a game of darts or a game of dominoes without youngsters yelling and shouting in your ear all of the time. Gone are the days of the old P and M for those of us that remember those days, welcome to Walters, a traditional old style public house where you can get a pint and a sandwich. I bought a pint of real ale and a sandwich and only paid £3.50. Certainly value for money. I have certainly recommended this pub to all of my friends.

They decorate and get into the spirit at Halloween and Christmas. It is a Rock pub but mainly in the evening. In the daytime it gets an eclectic mix of shoppers of all ages, being in the town centre, and older people. In the evening it changes and the music really is too loud to hold much of a conversation. Mainly heavy rock and metal. There are usually a bunch of middle aged rockers, sat at the bar, but they are a friendly bunch as are the stuff. Tues night is the night to go as it is Student Night and £1 a pintthe best thing is you don't have to be a student to get the prices. Always queues for the ladies which are entered through victorian glass window style doors. You can have a good chat in the queue as it seems quieter there. On other nights the beer is still reasonably priced.
