The other is over a little bridge across the river and in though The Haven Mill. The pub is a part of the old mill and has a kind of industrial building feel to it with metal girders and a wooden terrace overlooking the river. Great for sitting out on in summer but the river can be a bit smelly in hot weather. It is L shaped and bands set up in a corner. Good music from Blues and Folk to acoustic nights, open mike and general. A mix of ages in the clientel. Good food to be had here and the drinks are well priced. The staff can be a little rude sometimes though. A great place for atmosphere and good music.

However having lived in the south for a year I almost fell over when I was asked for £1.35 for my pint of real ale last weekend. There is always a good selection of ales. It was quiet and they allowed my friends 16 year old daughter to sit with us while we had a drink. The Yarborough was owned by Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway Company and, eventually, by the LNER. After the Second World War, the British Transport Commission owned it. In 1951, it was bought by a brewery from Hull. In 1960, it was nearly demolished. The hotel, which is a symbol of the town's transition from an 18th-century fishing village into a great Victorian port, is now a listed building. It is one of the town's best-known landmarks . It was purpose-built in the mid 19th century (1851) to serve Grimsby's first railway. The hotel took its name from the second Earl of Yarborough, who was a director of the railway company and lived at nearby Brocklesby. Mostly DJ's but occasionally live music and Rock Nights with bands. The dance floor is not huge and usually packed. It bounces too especially when groups of Goths in New Rocks are jumping around. This is the third floor too. Not designed for the disabled as lots of steep stairs to the free cloakroom and ticket office. Loud, friendly and jumping this is an established place having been there around 25 years or more and just as popular now as it always was. Drinks and cocktails are reasonably priced. Plenty of room to circulate if you are good at pushing. The long bar can involve a wait or misheard orders but not much of a problem. One corner used to be called Goth Corner as it was where they all congregated but now the students seem to have discovered it too. You can often find a seat there or else you will stand. Once upon a time you always stuck to the bar floor but they seem to have solved that problem. A shame as it was famous for it. A good night out but your ears will ring for hours.

I was told that it is currently being built up into a real ale pub with background music allowing us older folks the pleasure to go somewhere and have a decent pint in decent surroundings. You can have a game of darts or a game of dominoes without youngsters yelling and shouting in your ear all of the time. Gone are the days of the old P and M for those of us that remember those days, welcome to Walters, a traditional old style public house where you can get a pint and a sandwich. I bought a pint of real ale and a sandwich and only paid £3.50. Certainly value for money. I have certainly recommended this pub to all of my friends.

The windows display plenty of information about the services they offer and there are some very good deals on - as always expected from an organisation that isn't pandering to the shareholders. Inside is well laid out and the staff are really nice and helpful. They are always welcoming and will engage in a little chat while dealing with you. If you need any assistance or information regarding products on offer there is always someone available that can help. The products they do have are far superior to those offered by the majority of the banks. Highly recommended.
